OF PITBULLS AND LAWYERS

Can lawyers advertise they are "Pitbulls"?

Fluffy

Lawyer Robert Pelletier is facing a BAR complaint for doing just that.

Here is the ABA Journal reporting on the case and quoting our own expert Brian "  The Eagle" Tanenbaum:

Brian Tannebaum, who handles ethics cases and white-collar defense at Bast Amron in Miami, told the publication that he isn’t a fan of ads that use pit bulls or sharks. But he said restrictions can lead to questions of consistency.

“I believe in letting the clients decide who they want to hire,” Tannebaum said. “Some clients want a pit bull, and I think they know they’re not actually getting a lawyer that is going to bite someone.”

Personally, we like "Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!"

Is it trashy? Hell yes.

Should lawyers do it? No, of course not. It makes us all look bad.

Should it be illegal? Absolutely not. This guy should be allowed to make whatever trashy associations he wants in his advertising.

This is any worse than the former criminal defense attorney turned P.I. lawyer who advertises as the "Jewish Lawyer?" ABOGADO JUDEO!!!

You know what’s offensive? Those Morgan & Morgan commercials where he feels it is necessary to belittle any other lawyer or firm that isn’t his. There is the complaint that should be filed.

I agree with Brian. worry about things like this if the lawyer screws up. And maybe he represents pitbulls too.

Before that rule, there was:

A Ali Aba Ability Law firm of Robert Shithead.

He was first in the yellow pages.

Such BS. Pitbull in the public eye means aggressive lawyer who will protect your rights. BFD. For a little humor, what about instead of ARRESTED why not "HUSBAND CHEATING ON YOU" or "PISSED OFF AT YOUR BOSS?" I know commercial speech has a more limited reach but this is clearly protected speech.

I agree with 3:34. This blow hard from Orlando constantly insulting our local bar. Buying his way into South Florida. That southern accent really plays well around here-not!

What about our local “Sharky” lawyer that we all know? How does this not apply to him??

3:26 p.m. that attorney is trying to reach the old Cubans who only hire Jewish lawyers.

I remember listings in the yellow pages like AAAA ABA Aardvark Ability Law Offices of ............

Isn't Haber the "Shark" lawyer? I see his shark sticker on random cars often and it is all over his facebook page. I assume that 8:51 is talking about him. Seems he should also be in trouble with this?
