The price of freedom of religion, or of speech, or of the press, is that we must put up with a good deal of rubbish.

Nice Rump...but, gossip is not rubbish anymore than playing in the trash is not fun!
amen...........
Like the rubbish we're hearing about Arab v. Jew--and Manno changing her name? poor thing. She should've kept the manno name-recognition that she once had. Now she's destroyed even that. Shnurr thing.
Dear Rumpole,
I always liked:
The Price of Freedom is eternal vigilence
T Jefferson
Vigilence in the Defense of Liberty is no vice
Barry Goldwater
Some would give up liberty for the sake of security, but they wind up w/ neither
B Franklin
D Sisselman
But, 7:59:08, Goldwater's actual quote is, "I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice." Had he said "vigilence," he might not have lost the 1964 election by the largest landslide in presidential election history.

WATCHDOG REPORT BY DANIEL A. RICKER IN EDITION DATED AUGUST 13, 2006
Circuit Court Judge Schwartz after 16 years on bench gets challenger, needs to chill in courtroom, and has net worth of $1.68 million through May 2006
Circuit Court Judge Lawrence “Larry” Schwartz after 16 years as a judge is facing opposition in former state prosecutor Gina Mendez and he recently got The Miami Herald’s endorsement but in the article the editorial board noted the judge was known for a short fuse in the courtroom and that caught the Watchdog Report’s eye.
There are many very smart people in the world, but is a person’s temperament that truly defines great leaders and jurists in particular. A judge should not let their self-importance define how they act in a courtroom and for this reason; I pulled up Schwartz’s financial disclosure forms. Mendez’s financials are not available until she is in office for a year.
What do we know about Judge Schwartz’s financials?
Judge Schwartz through May 1, 2006 had a net worth of $1.68 million and he had $125,000 in household goods. The judge lists $193,000 in savings and saving bonds and $28,000 is in a vested retirement fund with Sacramento County, Ca. His residence is worth $850,000, he has $395,000 in deferred compensation, and his wife has $95,000 in deferred income. A townhouse that is being built is valued at $130,000.
Schwartz lists liabilities as $103,000 with Wells Fargo Bank, $35,000 with Northern Trust, and $9,000 with Ford Motor Credit. His income for the year was $138,438 from the state of Florida and $7,351 came in from Sacramento County.
Hey Rumpole, can I get just a little bit of credit please? Yesterday you wrote "An alert reader posted a nice article on immunity of bloggers from lawsuits, for those of you who care about such trivial matters."
I told you about that case more than two months ago when you were trying to decide whether to moderate your blog. Look in the "KO KO'D" blog in the June archives, and my comment dated Sunday, June 25 at 5:09 a.m.
MORE HERALD ENDORSEMENTS:
This time it's Group 40 and 43.
GROUP 40
The Herald goes with the incumbent, Bonnie Ripingille, over the "qualified" Don Cohn, who ran unsuccessfully in 2004. They state that "Rippingille's passionate dedication to helping families and children in trouble is what makes her special."
GROUP 43
They give this endorsement to Jose "Joe" Fernandez. They mention that Joe is up for consideration by the Gov for an open seat and that if he gets it, their second choice is Michael Bienstock, a 22 year prosecutor with the Child Support Enforcement Division of the Miami-Dade state attorney's office. They also mention that Joe has been nominated by the JNC a total of seven times. The third candidate, Cecilia Armenteros-Chavez, barely gets recognition for even being in the race.
CAPTAIN OUT ......
That loud shrill you heard this morning was "Hey there, Georgie Girl" Bonnie Lano (you know that's a hispanic name - Lano, Lano, Lano) Rippingille celebrating her endorsement over Don "Yabba Dabba Do" Cohn.
The Herald again, like a fresh faced 7 year old, uses their new word "superior" to refer to the choice here, and call it an "easy" choice.
They call Don "intelligent and thoughful, but lament that he "has been down this road before."
They go on and on about "Hi, have we met? 19 times? Oh I'm sorry, I'm Bonnie LANO, LANO, LANO (you know that's hispanic) Rippingille," as if she is the finest choice this election.
Don, you're a nice guy, but this is Miami-Dade County. Stop spending your retirement on futile elections. You'll never get elected here, and that's too bad, because you're a good guy. "HI, I'M BONNIE LANO LANO LANO LANO LANO LANO RIPPINGILLE, HAVE WE MET, 56 TIMES? I GOT THE HERALD ENDORSEMENT" (Bonnie, I know I'm writing, please go re-introduce yourself for the 20th time to the others here.
I understand that if Rippingille loses, that she "HI, I'M BONNIE LANO LANO LANO LANO LANO LANO RIPPINGILLE, HAVE WE MET, 87 TIMES? I GOT THE HERALD ENDORSEMENT". Oh g-d, she won't stop.
Nevermind.
HEY JOE, WHATCHA GONNNA DO WITH THAT SEAT?
Gotta love Joe Fernandez. Low key, nice guy, and finally will get his robe after an almost Kevin Emas, John Schlesinger like run at a Governor's appointment. He's been up 7 times.
The Herald calls him the "standout," and spend a lot of column space touting him as a good candidate.
In another slam at the D'Arce cast of unqualified characters, the "HI, I'M BONNIE LANO LANO LANO LANO LANO LANO RIPPINGILLE, HAVE WE MET, 167,908 times? I GOT THE HERALD ENDORSEMENT" Herald says that, for no reason by the way, that their second choice is 22 year (child enforcement) ASA (c'mon, really, be serious) Michael "Jack and the " Bienstock." Why do they give a second choice?
Because the third person in the race is D'Arce's Cecilia (you're breaking my heart) Armenteros-Chavez. Actually though, I understand that she was not endorsed because her husband would not allow it to happen. I tried to call her to verify, but, well, you know.
For the record, I'm with Don and Joe. Translated partially in Spanish "Yo no con Lano."
Joe, thanks for your kind note. When you get elected, dont forget where you came from, bro.
you got it JB
what kind of idiot looks up a judges financials to post them on this blog like he has uncovered some important missing link. Get a life and talk about something important. Oh i am sorry, obviously you don't ahve anything important to say!
