SHAME ON YOU RENIER DIAZ DE LA PORTILLA .....

Update: We are going to start pounding for a Bar Complaint against Renier Diaz De La Liar

Check twitter. It's just the first of our responses. This cockroach needs to be squashed.  He is not fit to be a lawyer.

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

SHAME ON YOU RENIER DIAZ DE LA PORTILLA*** .......

We previously reported to our readers during Qualifying Week that Incumbent Judge Fred Seraphin drew a challenger in Group 5. That challenger is attorney Renier Diaz de la Portilla.

A little refresher on de la Portilla is in order:

He was elected to the Miami-Dade School Board in 1996 at the age of 25 and he served two years.

He was elected in 2000 at age 29 to the Florida House in District 115 in a special election and he served two years. He ran for re-election in 2002 and lost to JC Planas in the primary, 45-43%.

He returned to the School Board from 2006-2012 winning a couple more elections.

In 2012 he ran in House District 103 and lost to Manny Diaz Jr 55-39%.

In 2014 he ran for Circuit Court Judge against Veronica Diaz and he lost 57-43%.

In 2020, he ran for a seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission, District 5, against Eileen Higgins and he lost 53-47%.

Now, as reported on several news outlets, Team de la Portilla is responsible for a hit piece against Judge Seraphin that is vile, disgusting, dishonest, and could result in a Bar investigation.

On the same day that Absentee Ballots began arriving in mailboxes throughout Miami-Dade County, a political flyer attacking Seraphin also began arriving in mailboxes. The flyer accuses Judge Seraphin, falsely, of refusing to “release his arrest record” and of having a “criminal past”.

The flyer asks voters: “Should someone arrested for Armed Robbery be a Judge”? It goes on to state that: “No one who was arrested for a violent crime is FIT to be a Judge”. If that wasn’t shocking enough, the Flyer ends with “Call Seraphin at 305-xxx-xxxx and tell him to come clean” (The flyer actually prints Judge Seraphin’s cell phone number).

Anyone that knows Judge Fred Seraphin knows that he has been telling people for more than 20 years that the reason he went to law school, first became an Assistant Public Defender, and then applied to become a judge was because of his personal experience of being falsely arrested. Seraphin was a college student and the likely victim of racial profiling when he was arrested and falsely accused.  He was released from jail and prosecutors NEVER charged him with a crime.

When Governor Jeb Bush appointed Seraphin to the bench in 2001 Bush was well aware of the arrest.

The flyer was sent out by a PAC called Proven Leadership for Miami-Dade County. Who is behind that PAC - none other than Renier Diaz de la Portilla’s brother, Alex (a Miami Commissioner). In fact, Alex Diaz de la Portilla calmly admitted to being behind the information in the flyer.

Our readers have, in the past, called out Judge Seraphin, rightly so, for his courtroom demeanor on the bench. He once had to apologize for his refusal to let a female attorney take breaks during a trial to pump breast milk.

But, there is absolutely no excuse for a judicial candidate supporting the content of this flyer. The voters of Miami-Dade County have a clear choice, and those voters should speak loud and clear just like they did in 2012, 2014, and most recently in 2020, when they told Renier Diaz de la Portilla to go packing - we don’t need someone like you sitting on the bench in judgment of others.

*** Candidate de la Portilla’s Net Worth, according to his Financial Disclosure is NEGATIVE $91,667.

Fred has my vote. Unbelievable. Hope this becomes a problem for Alex too.

I wouldn't vote for anyone with the last name diaz de la portilla. They're all jerks.

Thank you for this CAPTAIN WELL DONE

I am not surprised. De la Portilla has always been a questionable character. He is always jumping around from different career positions. How can anyone take him seriously. I received the mailer where he puts PD Marissa Glazer by name on the flyer. I highly doubt she was contacted for her consent for this. How does she feel having her name plastered all over Miami on flyers? While the incident was unfortunate, I am sure Seraphin apologized. It's our duty to educate the community against people like this. I am team Seraphin all the way.

The fact that so many of our judges are willing to subject themselves to this type of character assassination is a tribute to their dedication to public service. Judge Seraphin has served us with distinction and ability. Hopefully, he will be vindicated in this election.

Treating the bar with respect will not get you re-elected, since 99% of the electorate has no idea who any judges are. But treating the bar like crap will get you an opponent. Seraphin treats people like crap and got his opponent. His opponent is well versed in politics and will likely beat him pretty good at the polls.

Treating the bar with respect is the easiest thing in the world to do. But Seraphin doesn't. It's worked for him for years, but it may hurt him now. And that is why I'm voting against him. The flyers really mean nothing to me.

Renier is the Fredo of the de la Tortilla clan.

I'm with 7:47.

When I read that piece of garbage I almost fell over from shock. That kind of campaigning cannot and should not be tolerated. Judge Seraphin has never hidden that episode from anyone. He has my vote and the vote of all my friends and neighbors,

This is a big problem for the candidate. See Inquiry Concerning Scott C. Dupont,
252 So.3d 1130 (Fla.2018), removing judge from the bench unanimously for running
a similar campaign.

I am not a fan of Seraphin but this is wrong. The advertisement should say the following but does not:

“Should someone arrested and convicted for armed robbery be a judge?

Anyone can be arrested at any time, anyplace, anywhere for anything. If De La Portilla wins, he is likely to allow the state to mention and introduce prior arrests of defendants as evidence of guilt. No thank you. I will have to keep putting up with Seraphin somehow.

The Fredo of the family

On a similar note, I just saw a new sign of Blumstein in his uniform, even after being called out by the Herald. He has no shame and the voters should have no shame in voting him out. We don't need people like these on the bench.

Who cares Captain. Tell us more how the Surfside death trials are progressing?

Also - please do a retrospective on HANZY & COCO. Tell us about their early years when they were young surfers traveling the California coast searching for the perfect wave. And eating yummy churros.

The moron also can’t spell they misspelled public. Hahhaah

Anonymous said...

Wow they misspelled public!

Dana Santino ran a smear campaign against a well qualified challenger and won by a narrow margin. JQC investigation followed and she was booted. I worked in Seraphim courtroom and he sometimes acted like a bully and holier than thou but this should not be allowed to stand. Disgusting.

Sorry to say, the best case scenario here is that RDP wins and then gets booted of the bench by the JQC. Seraphin has been one of the worst judges on the bench for years and his behavior needs to have consequences. That said, RDP and his family are scum.

Seraphin is a pleasant saint compared to Fajardo Orshan

Anonymous said...

Does the advertisement say public or pubic??? Rumpole?

Anonymous said...

I would not vote for either of them but de Portillo should loose his license.

"Dana Santino ran a smear campaign against a well qualified challenger and won by a narrow margin. JQC investigation followed and she was booted."

Up until Santino's case, the JQC and Florida Supreme Court figured that slimy election tactics did not present an unfitness for office. Her case established the precedent of judges getting booted for stuff they did to get elected. Before Santino, judicial candidates followed the mantra "do whatever it takes to win and pay the fine later." And for a long time, that advice worked like a charm.

I’m glad this clown didn’t run against Hanzy and Coco. They both get 6 more years.

Look for upcoming episodes!!

And there are no disclaimers on his signs. Blumstein is a bad judge and intentionally misleading the voters with those signs. His opponent should file a complaint.

(Jingle) “Hanzy in the morning. 66 WNBC”
Hanzy- It’s Hanzy in the morning (sound effect “quack quack”). How’s your Donkey Kong baby? It’s 82 right now in Central Park going to a high of 91. The traffic on the FDR is backed up from Houston street to the Queensborough bridge. The Mets beat the Reds last night 6-4, with Doc Gooden getting seven strikeouts and Strawberry hit two. The Yanks lost again and Fat George Steinbrenner is angry. Coming up from 10 to 2 it’s the whole Soupala thing with Soupy Sales and then Howeird with that foolRobin from 2-6. (Sound effect “quack quack” )
Jingle “Hanzy in the morning. 66 WNBC”.

How it all began in 1986.

Our legal community votes are a drop in the bucket compared to the absentee machine and big white passenger van voting machine that the DLPs run. An August election has very low turnout. It’s how our Miami commissioners get elected with just a couple thousand votes. It’s all rigged to be this way.
Also, our eyebrow plucking’ boy mayor Francis has endorsed Renier. What a sellout. He is so scared of the Mafia on the dais that he quakes.

The DLPs are connected. The JQC won't do a thing.

I heard the Hanzy and Coco show this morning. What’s the deal with Coco this morning? He seemed exhausted. His speech seemed slurred. The trial must be taking a toll on this duo.

How do they preside over a tragic trial with 98 dead victims — and then do their comedy? I wish Hanzy would play his accordion again. Love his take on klezmer music. Is Hanzy from Prague? Budapest?

Anonymous said...

By the way. Which one is the tall one? Hanzy? Coco?

Anonymous said...

Why is everybody assuming that RDP ran the flyers? If his brother or somebody else did, they are responsible. Sometimes friends and family do crazy shit to support their relatives. I agree with the comment that if you treat the bar without respect or with contempt, you get an opponent.

Anonymous said...

Is it legal to publish a judge's personal phone number? Especially if it's done to harrass the judge?

Anonymous said...

Amen

Anonymous said...

Wrong. Seraphin is a horrible judge and not really a nice person. That said, the entire de La Portilla family is corrupt and dishonest. Either way we get a shitty judge.

Teressa Maria Tylman running under her new name Teressa Maria Cervera has a much bigger negative net worth than DLP. Tylman lied in her financial disclosure and did not disclose a $400,000 mortgage on her home and also lied and omitted a $500,000 note she is a debtor on in Broward. Add those two debts and then also deduct the fabricated $100,000 value she gave her two client UPS Store PO Box law-firm and Tylman is way way deeper underwater than DLP. At least DLP admitted he is a failure as a lawyer. The FL DOE is looking into this Tylman fraud. Her campaign is funded by her rich daddy who 'loaned' Tylman 93% of her campaign funds. Disgusting.

Ask the Captain. It’s his Post. Better yet, can you read 11:22 PM. Look carefully at the second AD. It says “pubic” instead of “public”.

Anonymous said...

I knew AlexDLP was behind the hit flyer before even getting to the paragraph where it says it. It's so typical of him.

Agreed.
