COVID UPDATE

It has been a while since we did a simple Covid19 update, what with reports of pregnant JAs lugging furniture around the courthouse, things have been positively "Broweird" in Miami.

Florida's Dept Of Health Covid dashboard reported 5,520 new cases on Sunday. Miami reported 1,160 new infections and 12 more tragic deaths.

Statewide 7% of the tests administered were positive which probably means we are not doing enough testing.

The all important R rate in Miami-Dade is stubbornly staying above 1 at  about 1.06.  This tracks the number of people an infected person is infecting. Once the number falls below 1, the virus dies out because every new person infected is infecting less than one other person. The more people who get vaccinated and who continue to wear masks, the sooner that number will fall below 1 in Miami, Florida, and the world (except for some cities and states who believe the whole thing was scam designed to get the former president out of office. Those people will just eventually die out from covid19  and pure stupidity).

Have you gotten your first/second shot yet? We have our second on board and are feeling great.

No appointment necessary shots for people age 16 and up begin at the Hard Rock Stadium today from 8 am to 10 pm. Here is the Herald article covering it all.  For kids 16-17 they need a parent and a both certificate (it's not Joes so a folded up 50 isn't going to work).

Lawyers Only: Take our Vaccine Poll

I want to get vaccinated

I have been vaccinated (either first or second shots or the J&J)

Vaccines are for chumps/Trump Won/I don't trust the vaccines and Dr. Faucci.

Rump did you love the Masters? Did Schauffele's charge down the back nine bring back memories of the Golden Bear Nicklaus on a Master's Sunday afternoon, stalking his prey, or Nick Price chasing down the shark, or Al Geiberger or Fuzzy Zoller being the only first time player to win the damn thing 42 years ago?

Congrats to Matsuyama and his great win.

Just think for a minute.

Lawyers intentionally falsify documents about being on vacation to get a continuance. Do I hear contempt and jail?

Now, how do we forgive a judge for falsifying his vacation reports? Hey, don't taxpayers pay for him to work. Sounds like theft to me.

Martin Zilber needs to resign.

This is nothing but sour grapes by a disgruntled former employee. What he is accused of doing is nothing different than what every other judge does. Judge Zilber is one of the few intelligent 11th Circuit judges. He moves cases and gets his work done. Who cares where he does his work from.

If you think the FSC is going to rubber stamp a 60 day suspension, you're nuts. He's screwed.

I'm sure Rothman was hoping for a public reprimand, which the FSC could bump to a suspension.

Look how many judges they have booted.

Zilber has been a problem since he was elected. He was more concerned about attending events and posting about it then doing the job he was elected to do. Sadly, he is not the only judge. The bench is a mess. He should resign.

I for one, have NEVER falsified any document to get a continuance and I don't know anyone who has.

Zilber was always pleasant but he gave the impression whether true or not that he really could not give a shit about anything except planning his next vacation. He seemed like a guy who had a nest egg and was using this job for pocket money.

To his credit I heard a rumor that he did take a certain young judge who was having
serious issues under his wing for guidance.
