CUSTODY

Update: We may have a big blog-related announcement shortly. Stand-by and check frequently (which you should already be doing) for an important update.

Custody is in our world a four-letter word. A matter handled by family lawyers who wake up and bill for their time making coffee and then are off to the races.

Surprisingly for an award-winning criminal legal blog, the family contretemps involving an ER doctor, her daughter, and an ex-husband exploded on our comments section. Last week the Husband went to court seeking an emergency order revoking shared custody of the young child because the mother's job of treating Covid-19 patients placed the child at a heightened risk. Circuit Court Judge Bernie Shapiro agreed, and the comments section went hot as the news went viral.

The 3rd DCA (motto: "It ain't over till it's over") weighed in this AM, staying the trial court's order, which has the effect of reinstating the doctor's shared custody of her daughter.

David Ovalle (who else?) is on top of all the details with his latest article here.

NB to the legal participants who are posting in the comments section. BE NICE. No ad hominin attacks. This is NOT Civil Court. We fight here in criminal court about mundane things like people's freedom and lives, not about the important stuff like who gets the Tiffany Lamp and the dog. So be circumspect or we will not post your diatribes.

Trump's hydroxy cure doesn't clear the virus. May help alleviate some symptoms. China study in 16 med centers and 15o+ patients report

Why can’t I open anything on the JAABlog?

Fake news 1:43 pm. China misleading the world so they can keep the cure.

What is not fake news is the opening of the REN in Milan. That is very encouraging. Their homemade pasta is amazing. My GF and I ate there over a romantic Christmas trip not knowing the awful days shortly ahead. Their tagliatelle and linguini are breathtakingly simple yet superb.

Seriously? The REN?

I tried the meatball appetizer at the L.A. Ren outpost in the Beverly Hills Hotel. Way less impressive than I thought. I’ve had better meatballs back in 1987 at Mezzanotte! I do believe the Ren chef used too much breadcrumbs and the sauce? Well, it was watered down and salty.

Hey, don’t shoot the messenger.

The REN franchised world wide into territories. So the REN (A Wuhan venue) has a different menu then The REN (A Berlin venue). Not sure they ever went into LA.

Meanwhile, from his Lair on Penobscot Isle, Maine, the Big easy E plots his next legal bombshell from his safe and isolated estate.

For goodness sakes, The Ren uses sauce out of a jar that is bought at Costco. Don’t believe it folks. It’s a scam. The food is way better at Rao’s.

I’m so over the Ren. Plus, they don’t use precautions for Covid prevention. The Munich venue has been cited countless times. Moreover, the big time Executive Chef? Driving with a suspended drivers license.

Seriously? Eat more Fried Chicken. You’re better off. Even better? Get an air fryer.

The mother's attorney is my son in law, Steven Nullman and I know first hand he worked his heart out to get the 3rd to stay the action and in effect reversed the Judge. Good work Steven.

Ricard Baron - you should be proud. Anyone who puts the Leinoff's in their place has my admiration and thanks. This action was a money grab. Shapiro should retire and takes his antiquated ideas of fairness with him. Good work Steven.

Sandy Fox and Steven Nullman, who filed the petition for writ of certiorari, did a phenomenal job in having the Third District stay the orders that violated due process.

Let me try this again.
Lonely Covid-cutie, very smart public interest type lawyer seeks successful counterpart with their own place for snuggling, social distancing, fine wine and super fresh sashimi.
I am a Yoga-teacher type of person. Chill, tall, thin, flexible, and fun. It would be great if you had your own pool and place for morning Pilates. But most of all, you should be open minded and into healthy living. A "feel the Bern" type of mentality would make us simpatico.
Email our Rumpole and I will do the same and he can connect us.

Too-picky pain in the a$$ who doesn't want to practice law anymore seeks rich socialist who is willing to give his under-taxed salary to the worthy cause of his wife going to yoga and chit chatting with her girl-friends about anti-vax conspiracies. I promise to timely write checks to the cleaning lady and the nanny (from your account, of course) and to stay mostly fit as long as you keep the paying for the trainer to come to the house. Looking for a forever partner and dream husband (a "tasteful" 2ct solitaire at least please, and destination wedding in Napa with guest list of no less than 150). But, will gladly divorce after the baby is born and a presumption of alimony attaches!

The divorce attorneys did nothing special. They are not the caliber of those who try cases to juries, either civil or criminal. Those of us who do try cases to juries do not charge the BS hourly fees that are perfomed mainly by secrectaries. They exist solely to take advantage of emotionally involved couples. If we do not have jury trials in the future due to the virus I believe many of us will start doing family law, probate, or foreclosure defense. Then the family-divorce bar will see real talented lawyers entering these fields.
