Retired Judge Ronald Friedman, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Judge Friedman served as Miami-Dade Circuit Judge for 26 years and 2 years as an Administrative Judge of the Appellate Division.
No matter how many cases a lawyer handles, it just seems that you end up appearing before some judges more than others. Such was the case for us with Judge Ron Friedman- we just did not appear before him frequently- probably because he was a civil law maven and spent much of his judicial career down at 73 West Flager. However, we know from speaking with others that he was well liked among both his colleagues and the lawyers who practiced before him. And he dedicated a large part of his career to public service, We invite comments about his life.
We know that Judge Friedman had a masters in Tax Law and practiced for many years in Beverly Hills, California, before returning to Miami where he followed his father- Judge Milton Friedman (who served on the bench for 30 years).
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel at Mt. Nebo at 12:00pm. The address is 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143

I worked on cases with him on a regular basis. He was a really nice guy and very fair.
I remember well when he was assigned to felony court that he asked us all to go into chambers and tell him what we REALLY wanted.

I tried my first case in front of Judge Friedman maybe 30 years ago. Three day bench trial dispute over commercial lease. He was (and is) one of the few judges who actually reads shit before the hearings. He also had an excellent temperament and treated everyone in his courtroom with civility. Requiesce in pace Judge Friedman.
I have fond memories of Ron Friedman as both a kind man and a fair judge. He was extremely thoughtful about every decision. Although I remember that caused a full docket, everyone knew they were getting a fair shake and a thoughtful decision.
Wish we had more judges like him today. Smart, kind, fair, even tempered. A wonderful man.

I had a special bond with Ron Friedman. I had tried my first case with his father Milton presiding, and over the years tried a number of cases in Ron’s division. He ran a tight ship but treated everyone fairly. When he was ready to leave the bench he knew I had transitioned to being a mediator and I encouraged him to do so, as he certainly had the right temperament. He will be greatly missed by those of us on the civil trial side
Treated young lawyers fairly. Still remember the egg timer on the desk during motion calendar.
