PLUS

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the Courtroom (cue Jaws music) comes...

The Delta Variant PLUS!

Yes, the CDC has identified an even more contagious Delta Variant which is spreading in the UK. "What does this mean?" you may be asking. We will tell you.

Regular old cuddly Covid19 had an R value of 3, meaning that for every person that became infected, they infected three other people, unless they worked in the White House under the prior administration, when their R value was double, because they didn't believe in masks, or Covid19 for that matter.

The Delta Varian has an R value of 9, which is not good and means someone with the Delta variant has 1000 more times of the virus than someone infected with regular Covid. What we know about the DeltaPlus is that it is more virulent than Delta, and binds even more strongly to lung cell receptors, which could well reduce the ability of the Covid monoclonal antibody treatment.

You can read more about DeltaPlus at  fake news CNBC here.

Enjoy your Monday and wear a mask and cover your damn nose when you wear a mask please.

Your supposition is not yet backed by any science. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/10/22/1048440310/people-wonder-if-they-should-keep-calm-and-carry-on-in-the-face-of-delta-plus-va

I will give $1,000.00 donations to the persons who run against: Seraphin, Venzer and Rebull.
I am sick and tired of all of them. There's a reason Rebull was booted out. Seraphin and Venzer are both bullies and the bench is no place for a bully.

Show of hands, were you surprised when Rumpole accepted continued government limitations on civil liberties after:

1) COVID-19 proved to have 98+% survival rate
2) Hospitals were not overrun
3) the CDC failed to address obesity as a leading danger
4) Vaccines were made widely available in the US (thanks Trump)
5) 70+% of eligible Americans were vaccinated
6) the NIH finally admitted the obvious: they funded the modification of bat coronaviruses in Wuhan, China, in order to make them more infectious to humans.

No, of course you weren't. Some "men" simply love to be bossed around and are aghast when others refuse the yoke. We should gather everyone who still afraid of Covid and send them, free of charge, to Australia, where they can be safely confined to their homes and continue to wear masks and diapers.

I should not have posted your stupid, insipid, and false news comment- but I have the time to refute it.

Hospitals were overrun you moron.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/hospitals-swamped-with-delta-cases-struggle-to-care-for-critical-patients-11630661403

#6 is just a lie.
#1 is a lie- 700,000 AMERICANS ARE DEAD because your stupid former president said it would "magically disappear." did it magically disappear? Did it disappear the day after the election like the Republicans said it would? Did it disappear the day after Biden was sworn in with a stolen vote?

Do us a favor - get vaccinated so Bill Gates and Dr Fauci can track you and send you to a California concentration camp. But if you do not get vaccinated, sign a pledge to die at home so we don't waste hospital resources saving your stupid self.
I'll survive with one less reader.
Now go eat some Pizza at the Hillary Clinton child trafficking pizza place you submoronic cretin.

And here's a story on a "super healthy" 19 year old student dying of covid. What a tragedy it was him and not you.

Your argument is that it has a 98% survival rate, so therefore, treat it like a joke?

Okay dumb fuck, think this one out:

You are invited to a assembly with 99 other people. At the end of the assembly, 2 of you will be shot dead, and another 5 will have their legs broken (although they will eventually heal). You get nothing for attending the assembly if you survive and do not otherwise suffer injury.

Now, you can reduce your chance of having to go to the assembly to 1 in 1000 if you 1) take a vaccination that is safe, and 2) wear a mask when you are around other people.

Of course, you say…”freedom”, and a bunch of other bullshit that has nothing to do with the issue.

You are not be free to force other people to attend or make it more likely that they do, because you are too stupid to recognize the best interests of your health and that of those around you. Well, wait a minute, this is Florida, and thanks to our governor restricting as much as possible measures intended to get people vaccinated as wear masks, you do have that right to be an asshole.

But what you really should do is take your tiny little dick and your assault weapons that make it feel bigger, put on your dirty red MAGA hat, and go get the shot. Because doing that will not only reduce your chances of dying or getting very I’ll, but will also do the same for your family, neighbors and friends (not to mention colleagues).

Hey it's your blog, and your choice which comments to suppress.

But, in case you actually let this response through, Rumpole hears me claim that Covid has a survival rate greater than 98%, then counters this "lie" by pointing out that 0.2% of Americans died of covid. Hmm, Im no math whiz... but did they teach basic division in Pittsburg grade schools? 330 million divided by 700,000....

He also calls a "lie" the fact that the NIH funded research efforts to make bat coronaviruses more infectious to humans -- and did so in Wuhan, China.

Vanity Fair, that notorious right wing media outlet, writes: "On Wednesday, the NIH sent a letter to members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce that acknowledged two facts. One was that EcoHealth Alliance, [on a grant funded by Fauci's NIH], did indeed enhance a bat coronavirus to become potentially more infectious to humans, ... carried out in partnership with the Wuhan Institute of Virology."

Wow, some lie I told.

Now, it makes sense that Rump would respond by invoking Trump, would find a statistical anomaly of a young person sadly dying, and would wish it were me instead.

That's what you do when you have no mathematical ability, no grasp of the facts, and champion the erosion of civil liberties -- you call the other side "trump supporters", wish they were dead, and count on that carrying the argument.

Have any friends in health care? Cardiologists, orthopedics, psychiatrists had to assist with COVID care. You are very wrong !

Rumpole said...

Once again my stupid Fox-watching reader you are not just wrong, you are dead wrong: But hey, keep getting your info from social media instead of thinking for yourself. When Gates tracks you and puts you in a camp, you'll be good at rock breaking:

CLAIM: If you are unvaccinated, you can get COVID and have over 99% chance of survival. If you get vaccinated, you can STILL get COVID and will still have over 99% chance of survival.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: Missing context. On average about 98.2% of known COVID-19 patients in the U.S. survive, but each individual’s chance of dying from the virus will vary depending on their age, whether they have an underlying health condition and whether they are vaccinated. While people who are vaccinated can still get infected, these “breakthrough” cases are rare and vaccines dramatically reduce severe illness and death.

THE FACTS: As of July 23, there were more than 34.3 million known cases of COVID-19 in the United States and 610,370 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. That means the case fatality ratio -- or the portion of known cases that result in death in the country -- is 1.8%. In other words, on average, 98.2% of known COVID-19 patients in the U.S. survive. Because the true number of infections is much larger than just the documented cases, the actual survival rate of all COVID-19 infections is even higher than 98.2%.

A popular tweet this week, however, used the survival statistic without key context. “Unvaccinated, you can get COVID and have over 99% chance of survival. Get vaccinated and you can STILL get COVID and will still have over 99% chance of survival,” reads the tweet.

The message is misleading. The average for the entire country cannot be used to calculate an individual’s chance of dying from the virus. The likelihood that a COVID-19 infection will result in death increases with age and if the patient has a pre-existing condition..

Dr. Thomas Giordano, professor of medicine and section chief of infectious diseases at Baylor College of Medicine, said the tweet ignores the fact that many people who survive COVID-19 have long-term symptoms, and that people who survive it can spread the disease to high risk patients who will not be as lucky.

“One in 500 people in the U.S. has died from COVID. To try to trivialize it and say it’s nothing, it doesn’t matter, I think it’s just a gross mischaracterization of what we are all living through,” Giordano told The Associated Press in a call.

Furthermore, vaccinated people are far less likely to become severely ill or die from COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated people.

Most vaccinated people with breakthrough infections experience mild illness, Dr. William Moss, a vaccine expert at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, told the AP.

Giordano said compared to the average COVID-19 death rate in the U.S., “you look at what the vaccines can do, they decrease the risk of death and severe illness by more than 90 percent, 95 percent in the randomized studies.”

Data from May showed nearly all U.S. deaths from the virus were among people who haven’t received the vaccine, AP reporting found. About 99.5% of all deaths from COVID-19 are in the unvaccinated, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has said.

Haha, okay final comment I promise. Then I will leave you all to your Zoom-dates and ordering masks sewn by slave children in Indonesia and carried to your door by Amazon drivers making poverty wages. Be my guest -- stay inside forever.

Covid is a pernicious disease and it killed wonderful people. It also has a 98+% survival rate.

There is no polity on earth that has been able to escape the virus, whether through more strident enforcement or more widespread vaccination. The respiratory virus, of course, has spread as all viruses do.

The origins of the virus are still unclear. And the lack of pressure to make progress on this front is bewildering. The virus, very similar to a bat coronavirus -- but with some strange genetic sequencing that allows it to infect human cells, first exploded in Wuhan China. Wuhan China is home to a virology institute where Dr. Fauci funded research that aimed to make bat coronaviruses more infectious to humans.

The American response to the virus may have saved lives -- or not, there is no control group. What is certain is that it accelerated deep problems in the economy, mostly born by people who are not lawyers hanging out on an internet forum.

And finally, if disagreement about appropriate responses to the virus cause you to wish someone was dead, or lasciviously daydream about how big or small their dick is... you are not a serious person.

Wow. "What a tragedy it was him and not you." Expressing regret that a commenter did not die? Probably one of the most disgraceful things ever posted on this site. And the fact it was the moderator who posted it makes it even worse.

Zzzz... Covid is over for me since I already had it. Glad to be living in Miami Florida not NYC or LA or Australia. I don't wear masks and I'm never getting the " vaccine".

Rumpole said...

yeah 1:35 put on your big boy pants and let me tell you why I wrote that. The moron who is posting fake statistics is not limiting their beliefs to their own actions (which may well kill them- see all the right wing radio hosts who died of covid this summer and just before they were placed on a ventilator said they wished they had gotten the vaccine). No, the idiot is harming other people because a certain number of them will buy into this stupidity and get covid and die. But I could care less if someone does something stupid and kills themselves. No, the problem I have is that I have to share the planet with this moron and the others like him/her and their actions not only place their life in danger, but it endangers ME because when they walk on to the elevator or airplane with their mask pulled down under their nose shedding the delta or delta plus variant, they are going to infect me. so yeah, given the choice between an innocent child dying, and these assholes who are endangering me and you, yup- I surely do wish they died and their stupid and dangerous ideas died with them, rather than an innocent child dying. You bet I wish they died. And I sleep very well at night with this belief. Because those assholes are the reason why innocent people are dying from covid. As for you, take your fingers, erase the blog address and never come on here again and be exposed to real world beliefs. Try www.disney.com. More your style.

2:19 get your fing head out of your ass. There is a control group. All the idiots who did not get vaccinated vs the people who believe in science and did get vaccinated. The percent difference in who dies between the two when one from each group is infected is in fact the science behind why vaccines work. And there is also a control group for whether vaccines harm people. Over a year later with vaccines and there is NO difference between mortality or disease between those vaccinated and those not vaccinated when covid 19 is excluded, and Nicki Manaj's friend's brother's cousin's friend's swollen testicles.

Love the blog Rump. But I sorta agree with 7:02. You cant let antivaxxers in the clubhouse. These people have no life and will recruit other no lifers to post here. They will dominate the blog if you let them.

Obviously COVID and vaccines have a relationship with the happenings at the Gerstein building. But if you start having vaccine arguments with some bored housewife in Missouri, you've already lost.

Dear Monday, October 25, 2021 12:19:00 PM;

Shut the fuck up.

“The origins of the virus are still unclear.” No, you dumb fucking moron. The virus jumped from one animal to another; like viruses have been doing for millions of fucking years.

We don’t know a lot about viruses. We can’t make them in the lab. Fucking gain of fucking function is some bullshit we can’t do. But, here is something we do know. Viruses mutate. They sometimes hop from species to species, and have done so over and over and over throughout the course of human history. So, the origins of the virus are perfectly clear.

You want to blame China, because you are a dumb fucking Trump lover, and it fits right into your racism. Now, what’s more likely, that a virus jumped from species to species like viruses have done for millenniums, or that some genus in China did what no human has ever done, and created an infectious virus. Occam’s razor motherfucker.

“The lack of pressure to make progress on this front is bewildering.” No, it is not you dumb fuck. The whole idea is racist and stupid. No competent individual is going to waste a second of thought on what is a dumb fucking idea. This jumping from species to species is so common we have a name for it: zoonotic. Smart folks are looking into rodents, bats, carnivores and nonhuman primates, the kind of species most likely to harbor zoonotic diseases. Other smart folks are studying whether livestock acting as a bridge for transmission. Nobody is working on this front, ‘cause it is fucking stupid.
