YOUR NEW FEDERAL COURT JUDGE

Your new federal court judge may just come from the following Miami State court judges who have applied and think they have the right stuff for Federal Court (Motto:        " The benefits include: Really big chambers; the guidelines are advisory; no idiot can run against you")

Antonio Arzola (Former Fred Moreno Clerk)

Mark Blumstein (Not been on bench long enough to find his parking spot)

Betty Butchko (Former ASA)

John Kastrenakis*

Peter Lopez (Well respected judge, often spoken of as Fed Material)

Migna Sanchez-Llorens (Former Fed PD)

Orlando Prescott (Former ASA, distinguished himself as Administrative Judge in Juvenile Court)

Thomas Rebull

Rudy Ruiz (Making very positive impressions during his short time on the bench)

Rodney Smith (Former ASA, very compelling personal story and journey to becoming a Judge)

John Thornton (Not his first federal rodeo, Fred Moreno connection which is not something to be overlooked)

Daryl Trawick (Former AUSA)

*Judge Kastrenakis sits in West Palm Beach, but he is a former Dade ASA, Former Southern District AUSA, and rumored to be a reader of the blog, so we include him in the list.

Roy Altman will Definitely be one.

Peter Lopez is a really great judge and I hope he makes it.

Good list. Now, who has the connections with rick scott and the Trumpster?

You forgot to list JUDGE MICHAEL HANZMAN.

Rudy Ruiz was also a former Fred Moreno clerk.

Judge Rudy Ruiz is also a former Fred Moreno clerk.

How you can include Migna Sanchez-Llorens on that list is beyond me. Really? And you do not include Judge Sasser? The latter is extremely well qualified and deserving of the position. The former should not be on any bench.

These are Ft Lauderdale and Palm Beach positions. Don't know why Miami judges are applying.

Blumstein would be a terrible addition to the Federal bench. if his time in Circuit is any indication of his abilities, keep him away from Federal court.

Blumstein? Isn't he still shadowing Judge Tunis?

EYE ROLL THEY WILL HAVE TO LIVE IN BROWEIRDDDDDDDD

8:32 am, this is NOT my list. This is the list of judges who have applied. I AM NOT endorsing anyone, merely listing who applied. That would seem to be very obvious based on the post and the fact that you missed that- didn't read it- or didn't understand it leads me to ask you this question: "Just how are things at the 3rd DCA these days?"

Kindly act accordingly

um Ruiz is very young, too young.

Blumstein is even less competent than Rodriguez-Fonts. And that is really hitting ROCK BOTTOM. The third floor of REG is a sad place indeed with these 2 on the bench.

Ruiz is very smart. Way too young.

RUMPOLE. when will we know more. Like interviews and such. John Thornton is very smart and should be a federal judge.

Those who think Ruiz is too young have obviously never appeared before him or seen his work. Not only is he ready, but he’s one of the strongest candidates on the list.

Butchko - no

My God that trailer was awful.

It is my understanding that there are FIVE vacancies to be filled.

Thornton, Lopez, Prescott in no particular order. No one else is qualified on that list or comes even close to these 3.

Anonymous said...

Interesting list. I heard there are phone calls being made to south florida Trump loyalists by some of these Candidates to get the inside track to the White House.

Butchko YES - make sure she never rotates through the circuit criminal division again.

If you want someone who always rules for the more powerful party with the deeper pockets.

Anonymous said...

Thornton, Lopez, Smith, and Ruiz would do fantastic job.

Ruiz is brilliantly smart and should be a federal judge. Is he young yes but that’s attractive for a President who wants someone on the bench for a long time. Did I say he’s brilliant?

Anonymous said...

Oh, Rump. What thin skin you have! And narcissistic to boot. Oh, by the way, Judge Martinez sends his regards.

Ruiz is the best of the bunch. Had a hearing before him last week and sat in on hearing before mine a special set and I turned to my colleague and said this guy belongs on the Federal bench. Any doubter should just sit in on his hearings.

Anonymous said...

Ruiz and Thornton, don't care about the other three spots.

Anonymous said...

Johnny K would be awesome as any of the old timers could attest.

Everyone knows Moreno is pulling strings for Ruiz, don't need to kiss his ass.

At a hearing in PB recently, the young ASAs seemed to have no idea of what Kastrenakis did in Miami. They all seem to think he's this brilliant jurist that fell out of the sky. He still seems to be right in the game. Can't see how anyone can top his experience.
