The NBA finals start tonight. Our team- the Knicks face off against the current best player in the NBA and one who is going to re-write the NBA record books- Victor Wembanyama: The 7'4 Shaolin Monk trained, Washington Square Park-chess-playing-center who can bring the ball up the court like he's 6'2 and stop and pop the three. We have seen Bill Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem, and others, and we have never seen a player like Webby.

But the Knicks have our heart. They always have since we sat and watched (on a black and white TV) Willis Reed a/k/a The Captain limp out for game seven at the Garden (after being benched in LA in game five after injuring his knee and missing game 6) in May 1970, score the first two baskets and lead his team and a crazed Garden to the Knicks first championship. Reed's entrance and performance in game 7 may just be the most heroic moment in sports we have ever witnessed (even surpassing Lebron getting out of a limo in front of the Miami Arena). When Earl the Pearl Monroe dazzled the league and got them another in 73, it was just the cherry🌸 on the Sundae. More would surely follow...
And yet here we are more than 50 years later waiting for our 3rd. And during that time (Heat "fans" take note) the Garden was packed. Every game, every year. NY has fans, not front running phonies.
Take a read of Spike Lee's failing NY Times OP ED today and get a glimmer of what this team means to the City.
What else is going on?
The Straits of Hormuz, like the first-floor cafeteria at REGJB remains closed cerrado. You might catch us one last time in June on the 7th floor sneaking our fav REGJB morning snack- corned beef hash, grits, cuban toast, and a cafecito- not healthy- but indulgent and satisfying.
Every day it seems we see a headline like "Supreme Court clears way for state to ban voters of color".
Have you followed the CBS 60 Minutes Scott Pelley drama? He basically told the new head honcho of 60 Minutes to F off in a show meeting, and got fired Tuesday as a result. Here's a good read on the tea including the "you're fired" letter.
Count us on Team Scott.
Failing NY Times readers voted Bruce Sprinsteen the third best living song writer of all time in the Times review of the top 100. Dylan was first - can't argue with that; Paul Simon second- the Boss should be above him. You-know-who-Swift barely squeaked into the top ten (7), The article is here.
Have you followed our advice and made a small fortune in the market? It has been running crazy and did you see what Jensen (Nvidia) did for Marvel yesterday? Unbelievable for a stock we started acquiring at 25 a few years ago.
Knicks in Six.

Rump what about what is going in LA? A reality star, Spencer Pratt facing off against incumbent mayor Karen Bass. Thoughts? Donald Trump did not publicly endorse him but did mention when asked, "I hear he is a big MAGA fan" He launched his campaign after losing his home in the 2025 Palisades fire and has centered his message on criticism of city leadership, especially around wildfire response, homelessness, and public safety. Check out his AI ad-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki3cPUWLKgo Are AI ads the face of the future for politicians?
Not a big Knicks fan but rooting for them in the Championship series due to Illinois High School Basketball legend Jalen Brunson, following the footsteps of prior Land of Lincoln NBA all-star point guards Tim Hardaway, Doc Rivers, Derrick Rose, Isiah Thomas, Quinn Buckner, and Maurice Cheeks and maybe the best of them all. Also feel pity for long-suffering Knicks fans who will probably blow away all the empathy with their obnoxious behavior after they win the Championship.
Knicks in six or seven
Spurs 6 7
@ "Every day it seems we see a headline like "Supreme Court clears way for state to ban voters of color"."
That's one way to look at it, if you are referring to redistricting cases (gerrymandering) before the USSC. However, this is also an opportunity for voters, including "voters of color", to shake off the useless Democrat party and vote NPA, No Party Affiliation. George Washington warned against political parties in his Farewell Address. Washington urged Americans to always place the interests of the nation over their political and regional affiliations. https://www.history.com/articles/george-washington-farewell-address-warnings
Candidate Donald Trump exposed Joe Biden as incompetent during the presidential debate June 27, 2024. Trump exposed the fact that the Democrats were lying to the America People about Joe Biden's fitness to serve as president for another four years. In response, the Democrats finally admitted Biden was not a fit candidate, and without holding a primary election, simply switched candidates, and installed Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate. This scenario unfolded as the Democrats were calling Trump a "threat to democracy". Really?
On June 28, 2024, Vice President Harris could have invoked the Twenty-Fifth Amendment on sleepy Joe under section 4, because Biden was unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Harris would then immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President. From there Harris may have been elected as an incumbent president in 2024. But that never happened. Harris lacked the necessary leadership skills and was never up to the job. The Democrats set the bar low and enabled one of the greatest political comebacks in American history: President Donald J. Trump #47.
No, I am not MAGA. No, I did not vote for Trump. I cast a write-in vote for myself for president in the 2024 general election as a No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate. Since then I learned there were many write-in votes cast for president in Florida in the 2024 general election.

If you really wanna know what people especially musicians(and I know we have tons on this blog) think of that list, watch Rick Beato’s take. Bad Bunny but not Billy Joel? Lana Del Rey? Isn’t she the judge whose family owns all of the sex motels on 8st? Kendrick Lamar but not Donny Hathaway? I mean who are these millennial morons? We’re supposed to value their pimply opinions when their balls haven’t even dropped yet? Please!
Nutjob
Good shout out to the '69-'70 Knicks (or Knickerbockers as they were called then, I think). Lost in the nostalgia and deserving of greater praise are the '73 Knicks (which you do mention). They beat the Celtics in the semis 4-1. The Celts won 68 games that year. Then they beat a strong LA team in 5. While Earl Monroe was a key player, the players who put them over the finish line were DeBusschere (the only NBA player to pitch a complete games in the MLB), Phil Jackson, later a HOF coach, Jerry Lucas, a memory savant who wrote a book on the subject, and the great Walt Frazier, who did as much for Black fashion as he did for Knicks basketball. And finally, we need to honor Red Holzman, their HOF coach.
