It is possible that those named by Governor DeSantis as replacements for each of the following judges that have recently retired mid-term will have to face the voters in 2024:
Judge Fine’s replacement
Judge Krieger-Martin’s replacement
Judge Enriquez’ County Court replacement
Judge Hanzman’s replacement (last day was March 31, 2023)
Judge Seraphin’s replacement (last day was April 30, 2023)
Nominees for Judge Fine’s replacement include the following six names. His replacement will be named by DeSantis by no later than May 30.

O.K. I bite. Other than Judge Janowitz, who are those other people? Are we rotating through judges so quickly that they do not have any name recognition before they get on the list? Or, are we proving why it makes no sense for all circuit court candidates to have to go through the County Court first?
Echarte will be in trouble. He has a nasty disposition and a short temper.

Judge Krieger-Martin retired from the bench back in January. Her replacement will be named by the Governor next week.
For those of you that were not aware, Judge Fred Seraphin retired from the bench last Friday. The JNC will be accepting applications for his seat along with applications to fill the open seat that occurred on the Circuit Court bench when Judge Michael Hanzman retired last month.

Judge Pedro Echarte will be 71 years old in 2024. It is my understanding that he is retiring at the end of his current term.

There are ten nominees for the two open County Court seats. I do not recognize most of the names myself. One, Kevin Hellman, is extremely well qualified. He is with the Public Defender's office in Miami and he is currently the Director of Training, Professionalism,
and Leadership Development.

Mariano Corcilli has never tried a case by himself but has a Hispanic sounding last name
Interesting that Cap and 1:18 p.m. say that they don't recognize barely any of the names. It just goes to show that the Miami legal community, while small, isn't that small and that different lawyers travel in different spheres. Apart from Janovitz, I recognize Jennifer Hochstadt and Jay Yagoda. Jennifer clerked for Judge Martinez on the Southern District of Florida and has been an assistant county attorney ever since. Jay is a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and clerked on the Florida Supreme Court. Both are certainly qualified for a county-court judgeship. It's good that we're getting a diversity of backgrounds, IMHO.
Yes, Luise Kreiger Martin retired. What a shame to not have her on the bench. What a nice decent person. I will miss her.
Heloiza Correa was an ASA here for a few years. Yara Klukas left Hogan Lovells for the US Attorneys.

Who????? This is their mentality: I've been practicing for more than five years and have argued countless Motions for Protective Orders...time for me to be a judge.
