MANSFIELD INVESTITURE FRIDAY

The league of prosecutors may be a collection of super-heroes, but they need a good editor.

It happens to the best of us. We made a typo once. It was post #789.

Long weekend. Enjoy.

No excuse, that’s why you proof read and have others read it over before you publish. Not a very complicated announcement. Who is running things over there??

What about Judge David Miller? Who is running against him? It’s time to final remove him from the bench. He is weak and heavily disliked. Let us recruit a Hispanic Female to refresh that division!

9:32pm you’re an idiot! Miller is a great judge, who doesnt take shit from anyone. And.... the last time a Hispanic ran against him, Miller crushed him in the election.

Yes, please someone replace David Miller. What a flaming jerk.
While at it, can we please get rid of Jeri Cohen and Dava Tunis too?

I will back David Miller anytime against a young Hispanic fresh out of the SAO. He may be a bit arrogant but when he is reversed by the 3d he is gracious about it. Dava is fine. Jeri Beth has to go, but she is not in civil or criminal so she is harmless to me.

Is Jeri Cohen in drug court because she’s on drugs?! She is truly crazy and unhinged.

What? JERI COHEN is still a Judge? Has she gotten meaner and more nasty to all?

I don't get the animosity toward JB Cohen. You will NEVER find a judge who cares more than JB. She has extended herself time and again to help/protect the most vulnerable above us. Starting from the first day she took the bench, she has pushed the state to create programs that address offenders' needs instead of simply incarcerating them. I wish we had more like her.

You are wrong as to Miller but on point as to Cohen and Tunis.

David Miller is a good judge. He is fair and unbiased to a fault. Anyone who runs against Miller will find it impossible to defeat him in any election. Miller's support comes from a more politically powerful source than any group of attorneys or legal elite. Jerri Cohen and Tunis are a different story. They both seem to have angered powerful political forces which happens when you are arrogant or seen as bias and are oblivious to who you offend. The mistake of many on the bench is believing the elite in legal community alone will pull you through an election. One grass root group with hundreds of members in this County can dwarf all the support from the legal elite with a single email blast. Miller has that kind of support as opposed to Cohen and Tunis. Henry Harnage is an example. Harnage was the judge on Joe Carollo's divorce. His handling of issues in the divorce case along with his political naiveté cost him his Circuit Court seat to Peter Adrian. All the forces of the legal community eleite could not keep Harnage on the bench.

Jeri Beth Cohen is just plain mean. She has always been hostile. Zero judicial temperament.

She could take some lessons from Stan Blake about how a nice person is more effective on the bench.

Please. Please. Please. Retire her already.

Cohen is nuts. I had a case with her in dependency and she was abusing my pro se client prior to my entry into the case. I came in and she tried the same bullshit with me. She thought she was queen of the courthouse and could just run over anyone. I told her to do what she wanted and id appeal her. She said "Go ahead." I told her to pass the case. I pulled a court reporter from the hallway and brought her in. Then i put it all on the record and demanded a written order for her bullshit. She refused and I told her I wanted to put her bullshit on the record. I did it. She then passed the case and then reversed herself. Folded like a cheap suit. She probably hates my guts now, but who cares.

Miller was horrific when he first arrived. But he evolved into a decent Judge.

I never had a problem with Jeri Beth, although she's been out of civil for a while, so I have no idea if anything is different.

You couldn't be more wrong bashing David Miller. He is fair to a fault, easily the most accessible judge in the Eleventh timewise, and not afraid to reconsider his prior decisions if you show him new law. He also does not take being reversed personally. He was a real trial lawyer and gets what that means.

Maybe you don't like that he doesn't kiss the ring or take any shit.

Maximize Miller loves launching minority defendants in criminal court

Why was Maria Ortiz moved to the civil division?

Jeri Beth Cohen is doing a fantastic job in Drug Court with one of the lowest recidivism rates anywhere. She knows how to deal with substance abusers and their facilitators. I have been abused by her in Drug Court and deserved it, but my "clients": got through it and are doing great. I salute her dedication and persistence. I do agree that I might not want to marry her.
