Miami style....
Does the A-form say "an impaired woman was being escorted out and she took a swing at an officer and in a display of professional law enforcement technique she was punched unconscious by a law enforcement officer?"
We doubt it.
For all our black-robed readers who often deny motions by ruling "why would the police lie?", take another look at the video. For all those cases where clients said the officers beat them up but the prosecutors and judges didn't believe them... take another look at the video.
From Occupied America, where police beat up citizens, fight the power.
When you see something that is not right, not fair, find a way to get in the way and cause trouble. Congressman John Lewis

Maybe she should control her drinking at public events and not swing at cops....America, occupied by idiots
Don't get crocked at the game, disrupt everyone and smack a cop twice in the face and you won't have a problem.
She committed a felony by slapping the angry cop. Guilty as charged. He punched a girl in the face. His crime is worse. It’s a push. Case dismissed.
I am profoundly disturbed, not only by excessive force used by the cop, but by the comments on this video in FB, the Herald, and other social media. The vast majority of those comments are along the lines of "she deserved it;" "this is what equality gets you;" "this is what you get for hitting a cop;" etc. Very few commenters questioned why she had not been handcuffed (which would have been the smart thing to do) or the so-called "slap" that seemed to barely touch the head of the cop who punched her.
If this woman had actually punched or intentionally hurt the officer, I would not have an issue with him striking her. This was a gross use of unnecessary force. The fact that an apparently overwhelming amount of our fellow Americans applaud this is disheartening and alarming.
Woe to the republic.
Video cameras, cell phones, and police-worn cameras are just going to take all of the fun out of police work. These guys may just have to choose another filed of work, beat their girl friends, and abuse their children and pets. Isn't technology wonderful?
People are claiming that the officer "punched" the woman in the face, but the video doesn't show if his fist was closed. It may have been a slap to the face. The booking photo shows no visible marks on the woman's face. The darkness around her eyes is smeared make-up, not bruising. I don't see what's so egregious here.
The officer had no business hitting the woman. He was not defending himself, he was not using force for the arrest. He just got mad and hit back, a lot harder than he was hit. It's not ok to hit the police, but they are supposed to be trained to handle this professionally. This is not acceptable police conduct. I doubt the SAO will do anything about it though.
She video shows she was trying to high five a guy, swung and missed then tried again and hit the cop by mistake. Then, he clocked her. But, his back was to all that and didn't see it. It will be justified use of force for the cop. BDCC for her, maybe PTD, anger/alcohol class and community service.
You swing at me and I have a right to punch you back.
C'mon. Look at the video more closely. She clearly hit the police officer's fist with her face.
Keep in mind that the police unions have scores of folks who track all of these stories and write-in comments about how wonderful the cops are and how unjustified any resistance was.
Have we all lost our collective minds?
You hit a cop in the head, you get a head shot in return.
The police officers did not sign up to be a public punching bad.
That is not part of the job description,i.e, punching Bag.
Take a shot get a shot, OWN IT
Just so you know, that story about a mother killing her daughter and throwing her in a dumpster hits home for Miami Beach PD. The father of that child is Officer Leon Paige. He's a former trooper and a very nice guy.
If you see him, you will probably notice the pain he is suffering.
What a horrible tragedy.
2:25 Hope you are one of the police union ringers. Otherwise, you are a moron.
It looks to me like a swing and a miss on the girl's part and then the cop clobbers her.
But hey, I'm a former judge so wtf do I know?
Heartbreaking about Officer Paige. I see that the alleged murderer-mom was able to fabricate a claim that Paige abused his child and thus reduce his contact with his daughter to only two supervised visits a week.
Let that sink in for a minute. A woman can allege child abuse and even though there isnt even PC for an arrest, a circuit court judge will legally forbid that man to spend time with his child outside the presence of some social worker moron and then meanwhile the mother can murder the child.
Holy shit our family court system is so broken.
The drunk crazy idiot deserved what she got, probably worse. I would represent the cop pro bono.
You knew less when you were a judge. Which is why you're a former judge.
I'm a liberal hippy, I can live with, "Take a shot get a shot."
But, it should just be one.
Both the girl and the cop were in the wrong, for all of the various reasons already stated.
Girl is typical Miami sporting event drunk who probably made life miserable for everybody around her. Just somebody who walks through life thinking only of herself.
That being said, she was clearly extremely intoxicated, was pretty well restrained by numerous cops carrying her out, And stupidly and annoyingly decided to smack the cop on his head.
The cop was in no real danger, he was in no fear for his safety, And had no need to defend himself. Granted she committed a batt LEO The cops should have set her down gently and handcuffed her.
The cop did not defend himself, he reacted as an angry human being who has just been slapped in the face.
Both parties acted inappropriately.
Very disappointing to hear that the trialmaster would represent the cop pro bono ... I thought more of him/her ...
