I LOVE MY LAW LICENSE .................

And in case you missed yesterday's post by Rumpole, read it again. "Protect Yourself".  And if you need further support for this mantra, just take a look at the latest Florida Supreme Court's disciplinary opinions published on December 31, 2014.  The Court disciplined no less than 22 attorneys in their latest Orders of Discipline and at least eight of those lawyers suffered the harshest of penalties; disbarment or revocation of their license.  You can read all about it here.

Happy New Year to all our loyal blog readers.  Looking forward to another great year of blogging in 2015.

Great lawyers are not arrogant jerks who steal from their clients. Don't care how many trials he won, F Lee is a criminal, just like those he represented. Lay down with dogs and you get... F Lee's.

Wasn't Ansley Peacock a character on the later years of The West Wing?

Lee Bailey is many things, but he is (to use a term popular when he was on the rise in the early 70's) not a crook. As Roy wrote, he walked into a vipers den otherwise known as the office of federal prosecutors and walked out with a knife in his back.

Lee is a warrior. The last of his kind. A man who walked into court and tried cases. He didn't back down. He fought for his clients. Hard. And he prepared like no other lawyer ever did. There is no secret to success in court. Preparation. And Lee wrote the book on that- which Roy read over and over which is why he is great.

Rump,

I am waiting; should I be waiting?
I am wanting; should I be wanting?
I am hopeful; should I be hopeful?

A few intersting new names among the usual suspects. Lody is a gem! She will make a great judge.

I have no quarrel with a person's faith or that it guides them in their life's personal decisions. I do have a problem with a judge wearing their belief of the Holy Spirit on their robe's sleeve as a guidepost in decisions. A judge should follow the law. Period. They should not be guided by Jesus, Mohammed, Allah, Shiva, Buddah, or Moses. Or, at least don't publicize it. They should follow the law. Period.

But, when I read the following "social media post" from newly-elected Circuit Judge Stephen Millan, I give pause.

" I ask you to pray that as I embark on this part of my life's journey that I will see with the eyes of Faith, have a Good Heart and be guided by the Holy Spirit to to hear the whispers on the wind and do the right as God enables me.

YBIC "

He's a nice fellow, and a family man, a good guy, experienced and will probably be good enough for the job. But, when it comes to being a judge, keep religion and your faith (or politics) out of the decision making process. Pray to God every day to give you the wisdom to make the right decisions. In private.

But I worry, is he not inclined to impose the death penalty, since, as a Brother in Christ, that would be a problem. Is he going to make his rulings on motions to suppress in a divine enlightenment session, where he takes a break to pray for guidance? Would Jesus raise that bond or ROR? WWJD- What Wise Judges Do.

Please, just follow the law. I'm hopeful. And clean up your FB page.

In addition to reading Roy's version of what happened to F Lee Bailey, read the Florida Supreme Court's opinion at 83 So.2d 683. He was a crook and if he was knifed in the back, he did somehow managed to do it to himself.

Griska a judge. No, she's too state oriented.

Rumpole, Lee is not the "last of his kind." there are many left. you among them. The tradition will never die. It thins. And, I can tell you first hand that he is not as heroic or saintly as you make him out. I like him. He made some mistakes that reflected poorly on his judgment. And that is all we have.

Some random thoughts Rump.

I watched Gov Rick Scott get sworn in today and give his inaugural speech. While I can't knock the job he is doing, is there any elected leader that is a worse orator that Scott. OMG. Isn't there anyone in Tallahassee that can teach that man how to give a speech.

But, let me answer the first question I asked with an emphatic Yes. And the elected leader who drives me more nutty than Scott is Miami Lakes weasel I mean Mayor Michael Pizzi.

Is there anyone more annoying in politics that this guy. How in the world did the people of Miami Lakes elect this nut job?. He is insane. That squeaky voice and that attitude he carries with him. It just drives me crazy. .

What say you Rump. Which one is more annoying to you.?
