44 YEARS AGO TODAY

Perhaps the greatest day in the history of humanity. And perhaps the greatest achievement from the greatest country the world has ever known. This is what free men and women, given the power and chance to achieve, can accomplish:

"Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed."

"That's one small step for man..."

Tiger is irrelevant, but Phil is charging on the back 9. Sad to see Westwood falter. Again.

Out of no-where Mickelson drops a friggin 66 and is in the clubhouse at 3 under with a 3 shot lead. His second shot at 17- an amazing three wood will go down in Open history.

Not as surprising if you consider that last week, Phil came from five down in the final round at the Scottish Open, sound familiar, to seize the lead from Henrik Stenson, and then beat Brandon Grace in a playoff.

That three wood n 17 was sick. 302 yards.into the wind.

Now he just needs to wait out the longest 45 minutes of his life.

FACTOID:

In the past 39 majors, 2004-2013, Mickelson now has five majors including three green jackets, a PGA, and the Open Championship. Only TW has more in that time winning six majors in the same stretch.

SPEAKING OF APOLLO 11 .....

Bezos Expeditions retrieves and identifies Apollo 11 engine #5, NASA confirms identity

By Emi Kolawole, Published: July 19 at 2:56 pmE-mail the writer

A team led by Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos has confirmed the identification of a Saturn V engine retrieved from the Atlantic Ocean. A NASA spokesman confirmed Bezos’s team’s find was accurate. The announcement comes a day before the 44th anniversary of Armstrong’s first steps on the moon.
The confirmation proves that the F-1 engine, engineered by the now defunct engineering rocket engine company Rocketdyne, was indeed used to carry the first astronauts to land on the moon.

It's just crazy watching that video of Apollo 11 landing on the moon and then seeing Neil Armstrong take those first steps.

To think how ridiculous it was for Kennedy to actually believe that we could achieve the feat of sending a man to the moon and bring him safely back to earth before the end of the 60's, and then actually do it, says so much about our country.

Despite the many issues we continue to face, we are still the greatest country on the earth.

That's one small step for man; One giant leap for mankind.

It has already been amply demonstrated that the "moon landings" took place in a sound stage.
