REPORT FROM COUNTY COURT

UPDATE: Governor declares Judge Kreeger's seat open and asks JNC for names.
Candidates De La O and Kopko are currently homeless, election wise.
See our previous coverage on the Election Conundrum here.

We'll get to the Colonel of County Court in a moment, but first, courtesy of the Broward JAA Blog, comes this disturbing video where a defendant batters by expectoration, an ASA and a clerk in Broward. The spittle comes flying at the 8, 9, and 12 second mark.
When this individual is prosecuted for battery on a law enforcement officer (which ASAs are) it might be a nice gesture if a Dade ASA and someone from the Miami FACDL went to court in show of support for our colleague who was attacked.

REPORT FROM COUNTY COURT.

Prosecutors, patrons, police officers, and private attorneys were all greeted at the door of each and every county court courtroom with a written message from Chief Judge Sam Slom extolling the virtues of the new "no sounding" system to the extent that so many traffic cases are being closed that there is no need for the annual spring "Slom-athon" which is otherwise known as a Traffic Blitz.

For those of you who need a little brushing up in county court lingo, a traffic blitz was a week where there were no DUIs or crime cases set and every judge set hundreds of DWLS, NVDLs, LSAs and other traffic cases every day in an effort to reduce the backlog. And as Rumpole has reported in the past, the intensive work usually paid off, as a dozen or more cases were closed after inconveniencing thousands of clients, and many officers, private lawyers, and ASAs.

So no Blitz this year. But there's always next year.

And remember, there's gold in dem dere misdemeanors.

Just wait to the police departments get the bill for all this police overtime. I bet this saves only a few bucks for the clerks and costs the police budges dearly.

Did you see the New Times PDF showing what Beach cops made last year? Some over 200k. Wow!

EXPECTORATION

Class A-1 word Rumpole. Gotta love it.

A big polysyllabic word for sputum or the act of bringing up and spitting out sputum. From the Latin expectorare, to expel from the chest, from ex-, out of + pectus, chest.

I'm chowing down, baby. These eats are amazing.

KFC, which is owned by Yum! Brands(YUM), launched its new double down chicken sandwich in the U.S. on Monday -- instantly become a hot trend online.

The sandwich has no bread, instead consists of two pieces of chicken stuffed with cheese, bacon and sauce.

Yum is scheduled to release earnings on Wednesday.

Okay, to all those who doubted it (and that includes you Toy Story), the Governor has declared Kreeger's seat open and has asked the JNC for names. I guess De La O and Kopco will have to find another seat.

so let me get this straight, if Kreeger retires before a certain date, then she can be a senior judge, still collect a paycheck and fill in when there is a need. By doing that, then there is no election for a seat that was to have an election a few months away and the Governor gets to appoint a replacement after the JNC has their say. This is an archaic procedure that circumvents the people's ability to elect their judges. Of course, elections gave us Adrien, Butchko and Miller. Not sure which one is worst.

Yep, too bad for Kopko and De La O. Bats was right.

(And much like the many accusations against Rumpole that he is someone he is not, i.e. Phil R or any of the previous guesses. I am not Kopko nor De La O nor am I the self interested party Batman keeps thinking I am.)

The questions (not prayers as Batman described them, not a religious man) are answered in the negatory, my theory was off.

Life goes on. How about that Shumie time?

I love it when some jerk says that he is too important to go to Kounty Kourt. I saw Roy Black once in ticket court helping out a friend.

We all get there one way or another, pal.
