An older person, with decades of admirable service to community is seeing all they built crumble around them. They appear frozen in the headlights, unable to respond as they did in their younger days- when confidence and talent carried the day.

When did she surround herself with sycophants, all assuring her that her top prosecutor who goes by the initials MVZ knew what he was doing? When did the hallmark of honesty and integrity become replaced by a win at all costs attitude? For decades prosecutors had to deal with cops who stretched the line of truth because they “knew” the defendant was guilty and did not trust the system. Then, slowly, Miami Prosecutors (at least some of them) adopted the same philosophy. And now, faced with the biggest scandal in the history of the once proud Miami State Attorneys Office, our State Attorney stubbornly and steadfastly refuses to allow outside oversight over their convictions - not even the ones obtained by MVZ who has been proven to be a liar, and possibly worse. (There is a name for turning a blind eye to illicit drug use and sexual assignations). Where is the criminal investigation for obstruction of justice? The SAO is investigating two assistant PDs for possibly telling a witness to not appear. But they do nothing when MVZ coordinates the testimony of jailhouse snitches and then lies about it? Really??
Speaking of stubborn, as KFR says everything is ok, so does her aging counterpart at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Also surrounded by sycophants, his staff gaslighted the news media and the Democratic Party a year ago as rumors of his age, illness and infirmity began to circulate. And what have they wrought? Nothing other than handing over the White House to a convicted felon and party bent on destroying American ideals, unless your view of American ideals is isolationism, xenophobia, and a cult of personality.
We will be held accountable in both Miami and by the world, if we standby while the concepts of justice and America are torn apart.
Maybe a few judges and ASAs should read what happened to James Joseph Richardson - wrongfully convicted of the murder of his seven children and sentenced to death. He was exonerated and rereleased after a State Attorney and her staff proved his innocence.
That State Attorney? Janet Reno and the Miami Dade State Attorneys Office (with the investigation led by Asa Don Horn) back when justice was their highest calling- not coordinating the statements of jail house snitches.
In Europe world leaders fret and make plans for the next Trump Administration, with a vice president who wants to abandon Ukraine who is fighting Russia alone as England fought Hitler alone in 1939-1942.
It takes a lifetime to build a reputation. And it can be lost in a minute by the actions of MVZ or DT.
Churchill and Roosevelt and Eisenhower were men who met the moment. Janet Reno was the woman who time and time again told her prosecutors to go where the evidence led them- winning was at the bottom of the list. Justice was at the top.
Where are these people when we need them now?

The Assistant State Attorney who worked with Janet Reno to exonerate James Richardson for poisionin to death his 7 children was Don L. Horn. Every year he lectured the new prosecutors on “Justice Above All” where he details the crazy journey of that exoneration and others.

You are amazing. Up until the last few days, we heard nothing about Joe Biden's lousy performance. Now, you take a shot at him along with Kathy.
The fact is that Kathy is too loyal to people. She is not dishonest, but she is a public official, and when the public loses faith in your office, you have to clean house. That is what she needs to do.
How about the practice when you lose a CCF or convicted firearm carry, you ship the defendant to the feds. MVZ was no prize. All he wanted to do was win and to demonstrate that even though he could only function as an ASA where you can control the cards, he was still a world class lawyer. What he was and is is a crook and an unethical practitioner. It took someone with balls like Judge Wolfson to call him down even when the defendant was not a prince. And, Judge Wolfson was willing to put a Third DCA judge on the stand who was really upset, but that was the right thing to do.
All of us suffer if the State Attorney's office is not up to snuff. All of us suffer when the PD's office is overworked and understaffed. All of us suffer hen we allow colleagues that we know do not give a crap about their clients, but only their retainers. Line your pockets, take a plea. They are probably guilty anyway. All of us are responsible for that too.
As for foreign policy, I am far more concerned about Israel than I am the Ukraine because I know the government of Israel is honest an that Israel is the cradle of so many of our faiths. Whether you like Trump or not, when he was president there were no new wars, NATO partners were paying their fair share, he economy was good for everyone, not just Wall Street, and we were promoting and recruiting talent based on ability as opposed to which letter of the alphabet someone represents.
Kathy has some problems, but she has been a good and honest public servant. Those of us who have worked for her need to remind her that she has the ability and the power to emulate Janet and make the State Attorney's Office great again.

Next move - we are going to see Handfield, Fingerhut or some other loyal defense puppet named a “Rundle” consultant/staffer. He will come in once every two/three months, sit in meetings, not review a case file and get paid what Mary Cagle gets paid or more to be Rundle’s “employee apartment rental consultant” because Bowman was too lazy to do that as part of his recruitment and retention job and because a favor needed to happen. Every couple of months Cagle sends an email office wide with apartment rental information. Would be interested to see how many hours a week she is logging at 175$ an hour to research rental properties for staff. The apd to whom you refer is known to have problems with her cases and clients. If you talk to any supervisor off the record at the pd's office they will tell you the truth- there are people in jail that should not be there because of her poor performance. She has personality issues that distract her from her cases and make her ineffective at her job and innocent people are sitting in jail.

I wish someone would take a deep dive of all of the ASAs (and judges) who have dated cops over the years. Then take a closer look at all of these same ASAs who have listed random cops as "essential" witnesses just so these guys could get paid.

That case is in trial now in 4-1 before Wolfson. Abahoff is a joke. Defense team killing it. All of the witnesses have been impeached for changing their testimony days before the trial, 4 years after the incident. Every re-direct is Abahoff trying to convince the jury he didn’t tamper with the witness. I thoroughly believe any allegations of tampering the defense has lodged against abahoff on this case. It’s pathetic. “Win at all costs!”
