Jail video visitation is almost here. Just as soon as you get your Covid-19 stimulus loan, the video system will be up and running. (In other words, do not hold your breath).
The visits will be MONITORED but no audio.
Hmmmm
Our visits in person are "monitored" ostensibly for safety. Anyone who has pushed the button at Metro West knows how carefully they monitor the visits.
"Hey that attorney in Room 3 pushed the button at 11:15 am"
"What time is it now?"
"3:10"
"This ain't room service at the Ritz. They can wait a bit more."
But assuming visits need to be monitored for safety, what can they be concerned about safety-wise on a video visit.
"Hey that inmate keeps flipping the bird at the camera."
Attorney: "Ok. Listen carefully. Put your left foot in. Now put your left foot out. Now shake it all about."
CO: "Hey you! Stop telling your client to do the hokey-pokey. There is a clear sign- no hokey-pokey on vidoe interviews."
So someone please tell us: why do they need to monitor the video interviews?
When you see something that is not right, not fair, find a way to get in the way and cause trouble. Congressman John Lewis
