GROUNDHOG DAY

For those of us up North, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow...six more weeks of winter.

Thought of the day: Don't you wish they picked Punxsutawney Phil the same way they choose the Dali Lama?

Alternative thought of the day: To our friends in Canada and Mexico and others in the rest of the world looking at us, we are sorry- about 50% of tried to avoid this.

For the Super Bowl you should be gathering all your money, calling in fees due from clients and placing as big a bet as you can on the Philadelphia Eagles money line. They are going to win ...Fly Eagles Fly.

Who was smarter?

Judge Alan Schwartz or Judge Mike Hanzman?

Better jurist? Greatest legacy?

Your President is a demented Circus Monkey. He expects everyone to bow down to him and do as he says. Wanting to make Canada the 51st state is beyond absurd. Canadian provinces are fiercely independent and protective of their powers in a way that would make even the most fervent “state rights” advocates in the United States blush. This is not only in Quebec – the centre of Canada’s large francophone minority, where the separatist Parti Québécois have a commanding lead in current polling. , for instance, that the United States would become a bilingual state. Even with Canada’s eight million francophones, there would still be more Spanish speakers in the United States. But would francophones have the right to speak French in Congress? Would citizens have the right to engage with the federal government in French? Or the right to federal court cases being conducted in French? Quebec is a water resources superpower, and Hydro-Québec is the world’s third largest hydropower producer. Is this something that the US government would be willing to give up once it had gained control? Alongside the rights of francophones lies the protections and agreements that Canada has made with First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. Section 35 of Canada’s constitution has been interpreted by the Supreme Court as affording a range of cultural, social, political, and economic rights to these peoples. Including the right to land, and fishing and hunting rights outside of other regulations. These groups would resist having to renegotiate these terms with another, more distant, state. To all the Maga-idiots who voted this maniac into office, your clown ass President has no understanding of these issues and their complexity. He simply points at what he wants and expects to get it.

He’s YOUR president too. Enjoy the Canadian dollar then.. . Hanzman was a much better judge then Schwartz.

How does Trump intend on taking over Canada? Is it going to be like the parachute scene in the film Red Dawn? @831 makes a strong argument. It's insane Also, let's not forget our neighbors use the metric system and sell milk in bags instead of cartons. Kilometers versus miles? It is all too confusing. Kidding aside, Trump wanting Canada to be the 51st state is nothing but a "salesman's pitch" It's embarrassing watching and listen to him each time he opens his mouth. I stand with Rumpole when I too say, I am sorry.

Sorry the comment above is way too long.

Who cares about Canada? French Canadians are the rudest people I’ve ever met.

To 8:31pm - I’ll put you down as a “maybe” that Trump will be considered the greatest U.S. President in our history.

Oh yes. And to 5:21pm - I put Hanzman down as the second best Judge behind Judge Milton Hirsch. Judge is a dedicated public servant who writes just brilliant orders and does not legislate from the bench.

In any event, Judge Ted Mastos is still - and forever will be - my favorite jurist.

85% of Canada’s toilet paper is imported from the U.S. things are about to get funny.

8:31pm you ever consider self deportation back to Quebec?

Who cares about Canada? You may not care but need i remind you that Canadians played a role in the Iranian hostage crisis? And what about 9-11? Canada hosted thousands of passengers who were stranded until U.S. airspace was reopened. Gander International Airport in Newfoundland, Canada, played host to 38 airliners, totaling 6,122 passengers and 473 crew, as part of Operation Yellow Ribbon. Gander has a population of 11.000. And you ask- who cares about Canada? Hmmm. How ignorant.

The same can be said about the US-- who cares about the US. As 831 points out- your President is a demented circus monkey. Starting a trade war for no reason. Trump has no effing clue about anything. He just expects whatever he says will be done. And don['t even get me started on Elon Musk.

Meant Judge Hirsch writes brilliant opinions free from legislating from the bench. Just a gem.

Everybody loves The Honorable Teddy Mastos. A true gentleman who cares for all at the Justice Building. Pure class. God bless you Teddy.

Other than Pamela Anderson and Rush has anything good come out Canada?

Where do I begin? Let's see. Iran Hostage Crisis-- six American diplomats were able to escape and the Canadian Ambassador in Iran. The Canadian Government and the CIA, helped provide them shelter and eventually helped them escape. They even made a film about it. Perhaps you have heard about the Oscar winning film- ARGO? Hurricane Katrina- Canada was one of the countries to provide the most aid and relief for Hurricane Katrina. They provided ships, supplies, volunteers, search-and-rescue teams, and more. It also accepted some evacuees to stay in Canada. LA Fires- Canada deployed assets of the Royal Canadian Air Force to help fight the wildfires in and around Los Angeles, along with BC, Quebec, Alberta and Ontario firefighter volunteers. 911- Over, 38 commercial flights landed in Gander on Sept. 11 - a town with a population of just under 10,000. no towns in the surrounding area had enough hotel space for approximately 7,000 stranded passengers. Local residents responded after Community television stations put out a call to “lend a hand, do what you can" including housing and feeding the stranded passengers with whatever they needed. Because that is what Canadians and we stick by one another and are there in times of need, I suggest you do your research and you will see how important Canada is. But given the tone of your comment, you seem to lack empathy and common sense.

Canadians are interesting. They just had a leader who had to resign due to the economy and currently have a major cost of living crisis. This same leader who froze the bank accounts of truck drivers who disagreed with his COVID policies. They like us decided to open the borders and now are facing consequences from that. Out of all these things this guy is triggered by Trump.

Mexico sending troops to the border, tariffs paused. Another MAGA victory.

Meanwhile Democrats had their party election but it seemed they had issues voting on and under standing the appropriate gender representation rules. At this rate just hand Vance 2028. Gonna be a long two decades for democrats.

@5 10:22:35 AM Yes we are very interesting. We love poutine and pour milk from a bag and worship Bryan Adams and Celine Dion. Yes Trudeau froze the truckers banks accounts and yes we were endured the painful two year lockdown however I would take Trudeau over Trump any day. Your President came in with guns blazing and now Canada and now Trump has backed down for at least 30 days in regards to the tariffs. Could it be because he realised Canadians won't stand to be bullied by a complete moron? Could it because he realised that when you push someone into a corner, the other person will push back 20x more. He knows nothing and actually believes whatever he says will happen because he is President. Clearly he has no brain. Kudos to 831pm for mentioning the French and the First Nations of Canada. He's a laughing stock esp now that the tariffs are on pause. Could it because the Dow was significantly down. If he had any clue he would have known that was bound to happen. And if he knew the law he would also know --"The UN Charter was drafted in 1945 by people who had learned the lessons that the aggression, isolationism and tariff barriers of the 20’s and 30’s had led the world into a conflagration. Article One makes it clear: threats of annexation are illegal. So are unilateral tariffs in breach of a trade agreement." Look it up. Each time Trump mentions making Canada the 51st state.... its ILLEGAL!!

Hmm, your President literally caved after the stock market opened. If Trump didn't know, surely his sidekick Elon Musk must have known the market would tank with his threats. It was if anything a wake up call. Donald Trump just got PLAYED by Canada. That $1.3 billion border plan that Trudeau agreed to today with Trump was actually announced in DECEMBER under President Biden. Canada agreed to do things they’re already doing and Trump dropped the tariffs for 30 days. Wow! Trump talks about being a master negotiator. He caved. Here is how Trump operates--
1) He makes a stupid decision and tries to bully and threaten his his way to make it happen.
2) Something really bad happens- in this scenario, the markets tanked, every provincial leader ordered the LCBO to remove all American liquor from their stores, banned American companies from provincial contracts one of which included a $100 million dollar contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink in response to Trump’s new tariffs on Canada. 3) Trump convinces his followers he knows what is doing and attempts to convinces the world he is King of The World and will get what he wants. 4) Reverses the decision and still his followers are yet stupid enough to think he is the greatest leader in history. Know this, Canadians will never BOW to Trump or kiss the ring nor will we cave into anyones threats, or be intimated. We are a strong nation and our gvt proved it today. And btw, to the moron at 10:33:17 PM who commented, 'who cares about Canada?' I suggest you look up the six Iranian hostages, the passengers who landed at Gander on 9-11 for starters. Then make your way to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and while you're at it, swing by LA since our firefighters were sent to help...shall I go on because I'm sure all those folks care about Canada.

I do not think Americans are grasping how betrayed Canadians feel right now. I've never seen Canadians this angry. I didn't think it was possible to anger them. It's like Canada has two vibes-- 1)Hey buddy 2) Go fuck yourself

Trump is right on every issue

Feb. 3 at 11am, Mexico promised the 10,000 troops at the border in December to the Biden administration, they gave nothing new to the Trump administration to stop the tariffs. Same with Canada, they agreed to the extra measures at the border 6 months ago. Trump got nothing new nor additional in the tariff debacle

Hey this was all promised back in Dec. But you Maga-morons are convinced it was Trump. Hardly a Maga victory.
