THE START OF OUR FINEST HOUR

UPDATE. We asked and you delivered.  As of Wednesday morning the Go Fund me account for Greg Gonzalez raised over $50,000.00  Thank you.  We criticize a lot,  but the people who work in the REGJB and the Miami criminal law community are the best in the nation. Thank you for caring about a great man who needed our support.

July 16, 1969 was the culmination of a decade of work that would result in America's finest hour four days later.  The 1960's, and 1969, and Apollo was a time when petty people didn't cancel government programs because some other president started the process. Kennedy started the quest for the moon, Johnson continued it, and Nixon made sure NASA had the funds to carry the ball over the goal line.

It was a time when science mattered and was respected. When the laws of physics governed whether a rocket carrying Americans could get into space, leave earth orbit, transit space, enter lunar orbit, land on the moon, and then do it all in reverse and return safely. Prayer didn't get Aldrin and Armstrong to the Moon, science and hard work did, along with tens of thousands of government workers who did not have to fear being fired for doing their jobs.

The moon landing is the ultimate intersection of government support and capitalism. Only the United States of America had the entrepreneurial spirit to produce men and women who could design a plan to land two people on the moon and return them safely.  Fifty-six years later, we are still the only nation on earth to do so. It was a time when competence, science, and intelligence mattered. How times have changed. Sadly.

But enjoy the liftoff. And you can best expect our nerdy 1202 Alarm post on July 20.

My iPhone has more power by several factors than all of their computers. They had no computer network to speak of. No wifi. No bluetooth. Most engineering problems were solved with math by pencil on paper and a slide rule. They built the most complex machine ever made with over a million moving parts. They made it to earth orbit. Then left and successfully travelled in space to enter lunar orbit precisely correct. You can’t just look at the moon and fly to it. You have to fly to a point in space where the moon will be when you get there. They had to design engines and valves that HAD to work. No repairs or replacements were possible. And they did it all. We did it. When we have leadership that celebrates Americans and doesn’t terrify them we can do amazing things. Someday we will have this spirit again. Hopefully soon before measles or another pandemic rips into us and when we go to have experts help we learn they were all fired or threatened so they retired and we gave pseudoscience practitioners telling us prayer and codfish oil will do the job.

Don’t forget the command capsule pilot Michael Collins making sure they had a safe place to dock and return to earth

What’s a slide ruler? Fake news. They had WiFi duh. How can you live without WiFi much less send some rocket thingy to mars or wherever ? Stop romanticizing the 60s boomer. It sucked. Very few Starbucks. IG had like a few users. It was dark times.

Work abuse continues at the SAO.

The Trump administration deported five migrants from Cuba, Jamaica, Laos, Vietnam and Yemen to the tiny African nation of Eswatini on Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security announced.

Damn. I’m going to Eswatini in two weeks. They have a great spa experience and a museum with four rocks and three pencils from the 1950s. Their downtown tour bus completes the loop in six minutes flat. Let’s see one of those buses in London do that. And there’s one restaurant with ac and I managed to score a table. The special is mashed potatoes. Yum.

Buzz Aldrin had a doctorate in Orbital Mechanics from MIT. Gee we had universities that had exceptional professors and programs that thrived with government grants to allow them to create new areas of study to promote growth and meet the new challenges of the time. What an unusual idea.

Rump, I'm riding Meta stock to the moon. Instagram is addicting to teens and other weak minded folks. They simply can't put the phone down. How many people stare at the phone when crossing the street? They're looking at Instagram. And Zuckerberg has figured out how to monetize it. Just look at any group of teens who look at the phones like zombies. It's like investing in a cocaine cartel. Printing money. Shares were 90 bucks in November 2022. Now over 713. I know it kinda sucks to make money off of other people's addictions, but oh well.
Thoughts?

Ah yes. A time when government actaully paid attention to science. Then came daily warnings that the world would end unless we stopped using gas and electricity. Time to return to real science.

Comey, a Manhattan federal prosecutor who worked on the criminal cases against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, was fired on Wednesday, according to six people with knowledge of the matter.

The reason for Ms. Comey’s firing was not initially clear. Her dismissal immediately raised questions, given her involvement in cases that have roiled the White House in recent days, as well the fact that her father is the former F.B.I. director James Comey, who was fired by President Trump during his first term.

Ms. Comey was given a letter informing her of the termination, three of the people with knowledge of the matter said. Two said that the letter said that Ms. Comey was being fired under Article II of the Constitution, which describes the powers granted to the president.

Ms. Comey told several close colleagues about the firing in an impromptu meeting with the co-chief of the public corruption section of the U.S. attorney’s office, according to one of the people with knowledge of the matter.

Ms. Comey was also a prosecutor on the trial of Sean Combs, the hip-hop mogul known as Diddy, who was acquitted of the most serious charges against him earlier this month.

The move comes as some members of Trump’s base remain incensed over the Justice Department’s decision to backtrack on a promise to release more material from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.
Trump on Wednesday fired back against his own supporters who opposed the decision not to release more materials from the Epstein investigation, accusing them of buying into a Democratic “hoax.”

Time for a new administration at the SAO

Oh we landed on the moon. Aren’t we great? Oh we fought four wars in the 20th century and were 2-1-1 (Korea a tie, Vietnam a big fat L). And look what you dumped in our laps? A world polluted by micro plastics. Oceans dying. Fish populations collapsing not to mention the bees disappearing. And what are your leaders doing? Chanting “drill baby drill” and outlawing the use of the term global warming and firing and prosecuting those scientists who are trying to combat it. Well done boomers. You f’d the world and are asking us to save it. I’m going to Starbucks for a Strawberry Matcha cooler and sit on my laptop and doom scroll IG and post a tik tok of my drink while trying to recover from my deep depression over the state of the world you left us. But yea! You landed on the moon 🌒. A hundred years ago. Whoppee!!!

Oh I forgot one of the good things you did was create NPR and as of last night the boomer senate just pulled back all the money and defunded it. What the f do you people have against Elmo and the Cookie Monster and the Count? Like the Count f’ing taught me to count because my boomer rents dropped me in front of the tv to raise me. You guys make me sick. Die already will ya?

Yup. I did.

When Valerie Jefferson, 23, posted a video about the “Gen Z stare” on TikTok, she did not expect it to start a fight. Her video, which documented one interpretation of the meaning of the stare — the blank look of someone in a service job who is handling frustrating requests from a customer — unleashed a torrent of intergenerational debates.

“Millennials finally got something to say about Gen Z and I think they ran with it and Gen Z was not happy,” Ms. Jefferson said of the two generations duking it out in the comments section of her video, which now has more than three million views.

Ms. Jefferson’s video was one of dozens of recent clips racking up millions of views over the last few weeks on the concept of the Gen Z stare, which many social media users have said is the blank stare that members of younger generations give in situations where a verbal response would be more common. There are plenty of examples from retail, dining or other customer-facing jobs, but many social media users say it is a broader phenomenon, too.

Mr. "Excellent," what do you know about those five migrants, what "heinous" crimes have they committed against "real Americans"? I assume you do know about Eswatini's documented human rights violations.
