JOSEPH MANSFIELD, Age 52. Joe has served as an ASA since 2001. He fills the vacancy created by Judge Victoria del Pino who was elevated to the Circuit Court.
RENATHA FRANCIS, Age 39. She is currently with Shutts & Bowen. She was previously employed by the First DCA as an attorney to Judge Scott Makar, a staff attorney, and a law clerk to Judge Peter Webster. She fills the vacancy created when Judge Jason Dimitris was elevated to the Circuit Court.

This Governor who is a disaster in most respects continues to make great judicial appointments with people like Joe Mansfield. Joe has paid his dues and will be a great addition to the judiciary.

I am very happy for Joe. A decent guy, a decent ASA, I am sure he will make a decent Judge [even if he is Republican].
As a former APD I had many interactions with Joe Mansfield. While I'm anything but a fan of Rick Scott, he hit a grand slam by appointing Joe. Intelligent, open-minded, and humble are words that immediately come to mind to describe Joe. Those are all key traits for anyone becoming a judge to bring to the bench. Joe has an excellent foundation from which to grow into being an outstanding judge. Good luck Joe.

this judiciary will continue to remain a cesspool of worthless talent until Dan Lurvey becomes a Judge.
I agree with all the comments about Joe. Let's make sure that when he comes up for election, and we know there will be a Hispanic named opponent, we give him the support and money he will need to win
11:13PM - be careful what smack you talk about law schools attended by judges. Judge Frances went to Florida Coastal Law. That's right up there with Apex Tech & Carlos Albizu University.
And it's good to have a Judge with the same name as a Civil War General (from the winning side, unlike all the old redneck Dade County judges named after Rebel Generals).
There are rumors that Florida Coastal Law School may be closing there doors due to accreditation issues.
Every time I have dealt with Joe Mansfield, I felt I was dealing with a very good and decent man. Good luck Joe!

The elevation of Joe Mansfield to the bench flatters the entire bar. he is the best of the best, a lawyers who believes that his role as an ASA is to do justice, not just pile up a bunch of wins. With Joe Mansfield, his word was like gold. He is a terrible loss to the office but a great boon to the people's court. I hope that after a few years, he becomes a circuit judge. It is nice to know that eventually we will get a replacement for Judge Murphy. Joe's investiture night should bring a great party.
I hate that I can't remember the case where Joe was on the other side, but I practiced in Miami-Dade for 30 years and he was one of the most decent prosecutors I ever encountered. Many, in my 30 years, were good, but there was something special about Joe. I'm quite sure that the qualities he possessed at that time will ensure his outstanding service on the bench. Whenever I hear defense attorneys lavishing endless praise on an ASA, I know that means he mostly gives them what they want.

Joe has a weak spine and character. Always has. However, with his addition to the bench, the quality of the judiciary can only go up.
