NFL WEEK 16

BREAKING GATOR NEWS: For those of you that care, and we don't, UF Football Coach Urban Meyer has CHANGED HIS MIND AND WILL NOT RETIRE. He will announce this afternoon at a 4:30 press conference that he will instead take an indefinite leave of absence and the D-Coordinator will take over as interim head coach for the foreseeable future (IHCFTFF).

Second to last week of the regular season. Congratulations again to Rick Freeman for his record breaking Suicide pool win.

Denver goes to Philly with the Bronocs playing a win or out of the playoffs game. The Broncos will lose, but we like the over 41 for 700 Geno's Cheesteaks ("wit" of course)

The Texans come to cool Miami with both teams having a playoff appearance on the line. Basically, the Fins need to win out and the House and Senate need to vote for cloture on the final health care bill for the Fins to make the Playoffs. The Fins have been our savior this year and they are 1.5 favourites at home over the inconsistent Texans. One caveat- the Texans have a better road record than a home record. But with that being said we have only a few things to add: RUN RICKY RUN, and THROW CHAD THROW!
Dolphins -1.5 over Texans for a 1000 Ginns.

If the Dolphins win, if the Broncos lose, and if the Steelers beat the visiting Ravens (which is a huge IF) the Dolphins and the Steelers just may meet next week for the final AFC Wild Card spot (if Congress votes for Cloture.)

Pick Em Paulie said...

We're here mourning the resignation of Urban Meyer. But we must press on with our ho-hum football picks. Every time we ask the gambling gods for a 4-1 week, we get 3-2. So now I'm asking for an 0-5 week. Each pick for $500.00
Buffalo +9
Carolina +9
New England -9
Pittsburgh -3
Philadelphia -7
35-37-3 48.61% -$2850

Another reason why we're a happy and satisfied NETJETS customer: avoiding the riff raff and hoi polloi: You won't believe the cretins they let fly in First Class these days. Ivana Trump booted off first class yesterday. Herald Story here.
Trump showed her class by cursing at children as she was escorted off the plane. Good riddance we say.

While I know that I won, I figured I would try to run the table with two weeks to go.

This week I have lots of choices on the board. Next week, if I survive, is quite different.

I still have two divisions leaders and one wild card available: the Cardinals, the Patriots, and the Packers and all three should win. So, I'll go with the Cardinals.

Good luck to Pick em Paulie and Rumpole.

Rump_ after a delicious and well attended Texas-Style barbeque to celebrate the Houston Texan's arrival in the Magic City, (fake blake had more than his share of ribs) disaster has struck here as the Texans are killing us 24-0. I am live blogging with my phone and trying to lead the crowd in some favorite chants to fire up the Fins:

Happy to report that the dofus known as Real Fake Blecher was suspended from a popular Florida West Coast blog after he posted a "twas the night before christmas" poem about a judge who is well known for not working long hours-after I pointed out that he took it almost word for word from the famous Twas the Night poem posted every year on this blog about Shumie.

For those of you counting, that's three Florida Courthouse blogs that dofus is no longer allowed to post on.

As usual, my unoriginally named friend has most of the details wrong. Being wrong is what he does right. I will address this issue at a later and more appropriate time and forum.

As for now, all of us Blechers are Gator fans and we will be watching our ailing but brave coach at his 4:30 pm news conference.

Rump I believe it's the offensive coordinator who will run the team:

Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will run the team during Meyer's absence.

How pissed off Re Fins fans now. Broncos lost, Jags lost, Titans lost. Everyone that needed to lose, lost. All Fins needed to do was win two home games and they were in.

Oh well.

Source: Florida Gators' Urban Meyer changes plans, taking leave of absence

Change of plans. Florida coach Urban Meyer isn't going anywhere.

Meyer informed his football team on Sunday that he is not resigning but rather taking an indefinite leave of absence, according to a team source.

Meyer also informed the football team that offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will be the Gators' interim head coach. A timetable has not been set for Meyer's return but he could resume his position as UF head coach as soon as next season.

Citing concerns for his health and family, Meyer announced his resignation Saturday but said he would remain in Gainesville and continue to be involved with the university.

Meyer has an arachnoid cyst on his brain, which can become inflamed from stress or excitement. When inflamed, the cyst has caused Meyer considerable pain.

The Florida football team is scheduled to arrive in New Orleans at 3:45 p.m. A press conference is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The No. 5 Gators (12-1) plays No. 4 Cincinnati (12-0) on New Year's Day in the Sugar Bowl.
