THE FIGHT IS ON

DOM has all the juicy nasty details about the fight between Roy Black and former US Attorney Alex Acosta over the prosecution and defense of Jeffrey Epstein.

Recipe: Take one hedge fund billionaire with an appetite for underage girls; add one US Attorney who is not going to be pushed around; mix with a talented criminal defense attorney who attracts clients with almost as much money (and less debt) than the USA and mix.

As David points out, the Daily Beast broke the story here.

The Florida Bar's in trouble. Read the Broward JAA blog and "guess who" as a guest columnist.

SELL SELL SELL.
We think Japan is falling behind managing the nuclear crisis. The worst news is yet to come. As such we sent out a Twitter message the other day to our investors who follow our advice to start moving to cash and begin investing in vehicles that will profit from a sharp market downturn. Buying Puts is a wise move (and if you have to ask about what that is, take your money and put it back in the passbook savings account grandma left you.).

We're a bit busy, so that is all for now. We will address the 3rd DCA smack down issued to an REGJB judge the other day when we get a minute to read the opinion.

HR
Senate: State workers should pay more for health insurance.
State employees would pay about $500 a MONTH for the BCBS coverage we have now at $30/month. Oye Vey?

Rump, Arlene Kalish Sankel from the bar's Miami office is cut from the same cloth as Hoffman. Mark my words, she's going to be next.

I thought I respected Judge Emas until he ruled in the Judge Levine case. Horrible way to pay back a beloved brethern's family.

9:54 -- I thought he ruled in favor of the family (wrongly in my view)? how does that cut with your "brethren" line? Plus, why should the "brethren" issue matter AT ALL? He is supposed to apply the law fairly and justly, not based on personal connection or sympathy. Or did they not teach you that in law school?

the 3d DCA would have tossed the Levine case if it wasnt a dade judge. Steve was a great guy and his family deserves the $. But he should have carried a large UM policy to protect them. Also, dont drive fiberglass corvette. This case has CERT. written all over it with Raul on the defense and Well's dissent will give the supremes the last word.Look for a reversal, unfortunately in that United is the worst insurance carrier in the state/

With regard to 9:54's post. Emas is the ultimate faker. Very bright, but ambitious to a fault and ultimately will be exposed for what he really is, and it ain't pretty.

Actually, State emplyees with family coverage will go from paying $180 to $780 per month an increase of $600 plus contribution to pension plus possible pay cut. Single member without dependents, from $80 to $500.

AND as it applies to ALL State employees the State will save av=bout $800,000,000.

9:54, what are you talking about? Emas joined in the well articulated opinion written by Salter in favor of Levine. The dissent was by Wells, well-known for her pro-business slant.
