WILL
by Elia Wheeler Wilcox, 1917.
There is no chance, no destiny, no fate,
Can circumvent or hinder or control
The firm resolve of a determined soul.
Gifts count for nothing; will alone is great;
All things give way before it, soon or late.
What obstacle can stay the mighty force
Of the sea-seeking river in its course,
Or cause the ascending orb of day to wait?
Each well-born soul must win what it deserves.
Let the fool prate of luck. The fortunate
Is he whose earnest purpose never swerves,
Whose slightest action or inaction serve.
The one great aim.
Why, even Death stands still,
And waits an hour sometimes for such a will.
Good Monday morning!
As you head out to do battle with the force of evil, we thought that instead of your morning triple cafe double-caffeinated whathaveyou at Starbucks, we would give you something to fortify your soul that is a little longer lasting and more meaningful than caffeine.
Enjoy.
Now go do something good.
See You In Court.
HEAT LOSE AGAIN.
PS. Sorry to start off a Monday on bad news, but the Heat lost their fourth in a row Sunday night, as the Chicago Bulls swept the Heat 3-0 in the season series. The Heat have now sunk to third place in the eastern division, one game in front of the fading Heat. "We have guys who can close," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. And Miami doesn't.

Unless they make the finals and don't get swept, Spoelstra is history. Visually speaking, he looks like a high school kid who is in over his head. I can't help thinking he is afraid of his players. No basis for this thought. Just what I surmise by looking into his eyes from the comfort of my couch.
The only evil I battle is the duplicity of the game and the players we play with.
WE WAS ROBBED. SIMPLE AS THAT. And Yeah, I don't mean we were. I mean WE WAS, DAMMIT. The refs want Rose to be a M*-F@^# STAR in the league. They should be investigated. They probably had money on the game. Hey, it's not like it hasn't happened before.
I bet the refs were very aware of when the nationally televised Laker game was supposed to tip off...phantom foul to avoid overtime?
