BREAKING NEWS: US AIRWAYS PLANE DOWN IN HUDSON RIVER IN NEW YORK. EVERYONE OFF THE PLANE SAFELY.

Says the only Black Circuit Judge in Hillsborough County's history has stolen from her.

48 year old Christy Yamanaka has accused Tampa Circuit Court Judge Thomas Stringer of helping her hide the proceeds of her profession. The woman claims she and the married Judge had a relationship. The woman also claims that the Judge took her $450,000.00 and kept it went their relationship went south.

Here is the Borward Pulp article talking about Broward attorney David Bogenschutz who represents the Judge.

And to borrow a Woody Allen line from Annie Hall, Yamanaka was apparently doing to the judge what he was doing to the litigants who appeared before him.

See  You In Court,  pondering a universe that allows Ms. Yamanaka to make almost as much as we...never mind.

Here's an idea on the DWLS issue:

.....how about we all just goto trial!!!! No more dismissals, fine...blow us, we're ready. Bring in all the Pinecrest and Aventura doughnut dunkers and then we'll really see some budgets getting stretched....jury trials too! Let's see these puppy ASAs try to get a driver's printout into evidence without soiling their diapers....!

Great dissection of the DWLS issue Phil. You truly are the greatest ticket attorney around. I look forward to more in depth coverage of this hot button topic. You go boy!

Annie Hall rules. Rump, you've been waiting for just the right moment to say that famous line.

The JQC is having a meeting to discuss Judge Stringer's situation at 11 PM on Friday, January 16 in the big champagne room at Tootsie's.

Going to trial is a great idea. Most of the new ASAs still don't know what they're doing.

Sorry to disappoint you, but for the last week I have been before Judge Jordan in Federal Court in trial in USA v. Ethingor Warren (Hey Scott Saul- does that name sound familiar? Scott did a fantastic job and walked this guy on a murder charge in 1996.)

Anyway, while I think the post is dead on right- I have been a bit busy trying this matter. But let me be clear- my firm handles many many traffic criminal cases. And we make an honest living from it. And I apologize to nobody for it. I also handle felony matters and federal matters, and basically do whatever I need to do to provide a living for my family and my staff. I've won murder cases, federal trials, and DUIS and feel just as good about each and everyone of them.

PS- while the distinction may seem minute- we handle criminal traffic matters and send out our tickets to attorneys who just do tickets. WHo by the way do a fantastic job.

Having, through my wife, gotten to know all those lawyers who handle traffic and tickets, I have to say that most of them are laughing at the attorneys who think such things are beneath them. While they work hard, they have less stress, no one goes to jail, and they make quite a very good living- one which I think most of this lawyers with big egos would envy.

I find it very interesting that Phil R. makes NO APOLOGY for being a Tootsie's lover. Interesting.

Gee Phil you seem a little testy. Hitting a little too close to home? For someone so content with his practice and secure in his ablities you sure are making a lot of noise. Was it the bard who said " a hit dog will bark"? Chill out dude!

My friend Shumie tells me not to respond to the stuff on the blog. But I don't mind doing it. People seem to think somehow that because my wife and I run a firm that handles traffic matters, and because before I did that I handled a lot of death cases, that somehow they are insulting me by calling me a traffic lawyer. I thought my response was reasonable and somewhat lighthearted. I wanted to convey the fact that not only am I not ashamed of handling a large number of DUI cases, I am proud of the fact that one week - like this week- I can try a case in federal court and hopefully do a good job- and the next week try a DUI and do just as good job.

The real point of my comment is that among other things I did not write the post. I sign my name to the stuff I write- which is something I may suggest you should try if you're not too ashamed of what you're writing. But I do support 100% what the person wrote.

And just in case you're wondering, today is an off day in the trial. Closings tomorrow.

Phil's right- move the comments back to the real purpose of the blog- Shumie, Shumie Time, and the Q.

I'm writing about New Year's resolution: we give a hard time to REG judges we think are incompetent, rude or dumb. Here's what happened to me this week:

I was in court around 10:00 for a case where my client was out of custody and in court, at for 8:30, in front of judge Dava Tunis. I forgot to call ahead that I was running late. The judge announced in open court that I was late, saying I was in federal court with my client) and then
ordered me to chambers to eat eiither, 'Cuban or American'
coffee with donuts or guava pastalitos,

So I go into chambers for coffee and was "chastistized" in a nice way; the chastisement was eating extra calaries after New Years. Then next day, I voluntarily brought donuts for
the staff.

I really give her credit; if you're late her New Years resolution seems to be friendly, kind of coffee/ pastry eating repercussions. Not bad, right?

Give me a f--ing break Phil!

What round was Shumie drafted in for this blog?

Dava Tunis is a fantastic judge and a wonderful person. We can use more like her.

The negative comments about Phil are obviously written by the hand of one, not the many. Phil is the real deal.

Guess what? Your not entitled to a jury trial on these DWLS cases unless they are seconds and filed as such.

The reality is you will be out more business while in trial, you will probably lose a bench or jury trial, and then your client faces jail time.

I also bet a good many of the ASAs who just started in August have more jury trials this year than the majority of traffic attorneys. The only attorney who focuses on traffic that's actually picked a panel in the last year is Zambrana.

Rumpole:

R.I.P. Patrick McGoohan a/k/a number six, creater and star of the greatest T.V. show ever--The Prisoner. You, as an Englishman, should be familiar with this show--especially since your alter ego--Leo McKern--played the "new number two" in three of the seventeen episodes of the show. Apparently, AMC plans to remake The Prisoner later this year but is hard to imagine that it will measure up to the original.

what is this? A gang war between traffic attorney and felony attorneys!

Are you all nuts?

Y'all should be making the world a better place, advancing your craft (in a respectable way), getting laid (that's real important...it separates the good people from the creepy ones) , listening to good music, making your bodies' stronger, assisting the unfortunate and enjoying life.

Nobody should ever knock anybody for making an honest living.
