THE REST OF MY MONTH

Looks, and certainly feels like this. I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, the problem is I have this sinking feeling it is an on-coming train.

Anyone have a life preserver for a humble blogger?

See you in court; swamped, overwhelmed, and feeling the heat.

UPDATE: Here's a good thought: the Bush administration days can now be measured in single digits. Not a moment too soon.

The Broward Blog has coverage of the retirement roast of Circuit Judge Stanton Kaplan. Apparently everyone thought it was a great idea to make fun of the fact that Kaplan was a tough judge. Quite frankly, we always found him to be a square shooter, unafraid of the prosecution or the police, and quite willing to grant a motion to suppress if that facts required it. We wish him well in retirement.

Second losing week of football picks this year. Not bad for 18 weeks of picks.  Lost 3 of 4 after going 3-4 for first two weeks.

Back to the grind (sigh).

Be happy you have a job and a source of income. And use some of that income to pay off your huge losses to me from this weekend. Otherwise, you will be sleeping with the fishes. There are plenty of them around South Florida.

P.S.--I've decided to use my winnings from you to get that luxury box for the Super Bowl in Tampa. If you want a ticket (I need to sell a few), they are available at www.rumpoleisasucker.com.

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

from the DBR:

The race for Miami-Dade chief judge is officially down to three circuit judges: Jerald Bagley, the appellate administrative judge; Joel Brown, who administers the family division; and Ivan Fernandez,

The deadline for judges to apply to run for the Feb. 5 election expired Friday, and no last minute entries made it on the ballot, said court spokeswoman Eunice Sigler.

The contest will decide who will replace of Chief Judge Joseph Farina, who announced in October that he would step down from the position he has held since 1995. He will remain on the bench.

My money is on Fernandez for Chief. He is the most adept of all them and he is the only one with management experience.

who is training the new misdemeanor asa's. I know they are young and have no perspective (as we all did at that age). But the last two batches seem to have the worst training in many years. Who is teaching them?

Hang in there Rumpole, good days are coming.

First, blame whoever hired them in the first place. Next, blame the outgoing CTAs, Assistant Chiefs, and Chiefs of County Court.

The disposal is broken.
The fence needs painting.
And the dog shit in the yard is a foot high.

My 'honey do' list is long and keeps growing and you keep spending all our money on those pigskin games.

Now that Ive got myself all fired up, I need a cup of tea.

When Brown was admin at County Court Criminal, he was not very friendly and treated the defense Bar with very little respect.

I hope he got better since then.
