A MURPHY MIRACLE?

The Herald (via our Oh Susannah Nesmith) is reporting HERE
nothing short of a miracle!

Judge Murphy has accomplished something that legions of prosecutors, not to mention judges, have been unable to do over the years: he silenced Richard Sharpstein!!!!. And what really makes it a miracle, is that the Herald is reporting that Sharpie agreed to it!!!!

The Herald article covers the gag order issued in the Sean Taylor murder case. The the real shocker is the silencing of Sharpstein, who ironically is not directly involved in the case. (Sharpstein was murder victim and NFL star Sean Taylor's attorney in a prior prosecution in Dade County.)

Just when you think you've seen everything in the Justice Building...

In other REGJB news, the Herald reports HERE
that Judge Areces sentenced former Police Officer Paul Brosky to 50 years in prison for kidnapping and molesting a seventeen year old woman he stopped for a traffic infraction. Bill Altfield was the prosecutor, and the Herald reports that the former officer turned down a 25 year offer right before sentencing to cover the case he was convicted on, and a similar case that is scheduled for trial in the spring.

And finally our favourite federal blog has coverage all this week of the Padilla sentencing taking place before Judge Cooke. As Mr. Markus is wont to say he will be "standy by" and reporting on all the events as they unfold in Federal Court.

See You In Court, where maybe Sharpstein agreed to shut up, but us? Never, never, never, never. For we shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France...we shall fight in the fields and the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender. (Sorry, but when we get emotional, we get Churchillian)

Does anyone remember Jason Laeser? He is Abe Laeser's son. He worked at the Miami-Dade SAO for a while. He was a nice kid. Smart too. He and I worked at the SAO at the same time and went to law school together. We were both on the UM Law Review. Last I heard he moved to Washington D.C. Anybody have an update?

Alan Shuminer happens to be an excellent lawyer.

He is a natural in the courtroom.

If I ever get in trouble, I would call him to represent me in a heartbeat.

He is one of the best of the bar.

By the way, he also happens to be Rumpole.

not truey sarduy. thornton only gets out if he wants to go to dependency.

was there a note attached to the appointment that said "and those that applied who continue to apply, who always apply, please stop spplying?"

Rumpole said...

Thanks 1:07- I think.
Nobody wants to talk about Sharpie?

Jason is living in the D.C. area.

He is with the Department of Justice, as Associate General Counsel to the DEA - and the father to a terrific four year old grandson.

Rumpole guesser at 1:07, give it a rest, don't you hate being wrong all the time? Do you think if you keep accusing the same people of being Rumpole that you may eventually be right? Go hit your head against the wall over and over again and tell me when it stops hurting.

DEA= Department Entirely (of) Abes.

An entire division of no nonsense prosecutors who will rip you apart in court.

RUMPOLE IS SARDUY.

AS HIS CAMPAIGN SLOGAN SAID

"WHY NOT SARDUY?"

Anonymous said...

What was Freddy Moldovan still doing in town? The blog reliably reported he was a- a campaign manager for Huckabee; and/or b- running a small local casino in vegas for a cut of the take.

That Shumie is Rumpole is the biggets non-secret since the news that One Hour Martinizing was a fraud.
Shumie and his buddy Tannebaum that is.
Rump-de la dumps.

I am one of the obsessed Rumpole guessers. My modus is to keep guessing until the person says "YES, it's me!." Soon, I'm getting on a billboard and sitting there until the true Rumpole admits who he is

Anonymous said...

I'm glad to hear Jason (Laeser) is doing well. Abe, did you mean four-year old "son" or four-year old "grandson"?

To the person upset at Howard Pohl comments, please email me if you can, or see my response to your comment.

Anyone ever sit back and ponder how we are mostly criminal lawyers, prosecutors and defense attorneys, with practices based on open confrontation in courtrooms (not to mention the judges who anonymously comment here), but we are all too scared (myself included) to say who we are here? I don't include the "trashers," who are just miserable children.

What does it all say about who we are?

Somebody just wrote a comment in another section about Broward being full of "sockless, tieless hacks".

A wonderful phrase!!!!! I may very well steal it. Take a bow sir/madam. Well done!!!!

In Miami we wear sock, ties and jackets but, we still have a bunch of "hacks."

They are typically ticket lawyers.

Sarduy. He da man.

I used to write under my own name. Unfortunately, it drew anonymous comments from an equally anonymous moron. Quite frankly, I have worked to hard to earn my reputation to take anonymous shots from anonymous hacks. Make everyone have a verifiable name and I'll gladly join in but until then, I'll remain

HE WHO NO LONGER WISHES TO BE NAMED

Stan Blake For Public Defender! Thanks a great idea!

Sharpstein is bar none the best, and I mean best attorney in Dade county...State or Federal. And with Janice doing the written pleadings...no team better to hire

Barzee Brigade team leaders: only 36 of 85 have turned in their weekly T3 phone logs. Please we need the data for the transport team. Also most of you are behind on the neighborhood meeting reports. We can't designate push drives until we know where we need the push folks. Come on now- step it up please.

Has anybody heard if the conflict counsel appeal stay has been denied? If so does this mean that they cannot take anymore cases or must they shut down?

I removed a comment a few posts ago calling a prosecutor someone who looks like a pedophile. I sincerely apolozige to the prosecutor. That should have never been allowed up and I missed it and it was a mistake and it was removed and I am sorry. If it matters, and someone sends me his email I will send a personal apology. It was wrong and a mistake on my part. I missed it.

In Response to 8:27: 'Tis true. The Stay was vacated - in part, I'm told. The RCO have been told NOT to take anymore cases or spend anymore money. What a WASTE of OUR money!!

Dear Wed 6:22pm, why did you capitalize "HIS" when referring to Alvin Goodman ("His" relationship with God)?

Was this a freudian slip and you actually believe that Alvin was God of His Own World?

"Thou shalt have no god other than yourself" (Bacchus 3:16)

Ahhh, I love the "best attorney" discussion. Who is the best attorney, the winner of a murder case, the one who convinces the state through dna and other evidence that the guy is innocent, the county court dynamo who gets licenses reinstated daily, the guy who negotiates a big case to a no action? Who is it. I think its you, anonymous.

Hillary thrilled with her New Hampshire win!!!!

"Hillary is ecstatic with the New Hampshire results and is looking forward to the rest of campaign" said family friend Richard Sharpstein.

Sharpstein allegedly is also a family friend of Sean Taylor, Barack Obama, the Pope, Brad Pitt, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Margaret Thatcher, and North Korea president Kim Jong Il.

To 1:21 P.M. That's a good one. My stomach is about to explode from the laughter. Sounds just like Sharpstein.
