Would someone tell Judge Armas Bach that giving us only 2 months to be ready for a DUI case is going to get him major opposition in the next election.

At the first sounding, you get just one continuance on a DUI and he resets it two weeks later. On top of that you only get about two weeks to watch hours of BWC and be prepared.

His mother, Judge Mercedes Bach was great and never would have done that crap.

Memo to Judge Bach, WE NEED TIME TO GET PAID.

Bach = another guy who never tried a case before a jury and never had to represent someone faced with losing their liberty. In other words, "I'd rather collect a paycheck from the state" than run my own practice.

My guess is that if you come in and specifically detail the number of hours of BWC to review, the outstanding discovery, and the documents you may want to get via other avenues (breathalyzer docs, etc) that you can get more time. Even putting on the Blog that the reason you need more time is to make sure the client pays isn’t going to help things! There’s no constitutional principle, caselaw, or rule of Florida Crim Pro you can cite for that reason. Lay a record based on case specifics and anchor it to 6th Amendment effectiveness principles and you’ll have more success.

3:28 saying the quiet part out loud.

You don't need more time to prepare but to get paid. Bravo sir.

@ 11:54am, that's evident to all of us who are in private practice. You know who that's not evident to? Judges who've never spent a day of their life running their own practice. In other words, lawyers who prior to getting a robe, just showed up, clocked in and clocked out and collected a check at their firms and didn't have the balls to go solo. That's why they're clueless.
