NFL WEEK 11 STARWARS EDITION

3-0 last week. Having a blistering hot season. Come make some holiday flow.

Dolphins are a +2 home dog versus the cowpokes. Tony Romo Returns as the Jedi Knight for the Pokes, and right up until the time  Suh  knocks him in to tomorrow, Romo will be fine. Then he will regret coming back. Fins +2.

Broncos at Bears. Bruins are another home dog that is barking. Broncos have a clone at QB, and the clone wars movie was not that good anyway, so take DA BEARS at home +3.

Bengals at Cardinals. Are the wheels off the bus in Cincy? A bad week last week, and now the Cats visit the Birds as former Bungle QB Carson Palmer welcomes them to the desert of Arizona. No reason why the Bungles don't start "breaking bad" and begin  a prolonged loosing streak now. Cardinals -5 over Cincy.

Long shots:

Packers are also in free fall, and they visit the up and coming Vikes in Minnesotta doncha know. The Vikes are a small home dog, +1, but for a few bucks we like Minny to make the Cheese Heads miserable this holiday season.

Cheaters -7 over Bills. This is not a long shot. We just hate the cheaters. But the Bills just aren't that good, and Rex is no Yoda, while Belichick is Darth Vader reincarnate. But if you need the scratch on MNF, take the evil one.

TOMORROW:
Can it be? Does Rumpole say something nice about Broward? is the world coming to an end? Check in and see.

See You in Court.

Covering for fake Jay White who is out with a groin pull, a touch of Brucellosis, and a painful bout of plantar fascitis in the right foot, which is why FJW is limping around the office and courthouse.

Let me break down some of the key plays.

Cowboys pick six. Dolphins came out and spread the offense. Cowboys responded with what looked like cover three with a Will dropping back. Tannehill thought he saw the mismatch with the Will but failed to notice the cowboys actually were in quarters and had an extra DB who was a spy and stepped in and picked if off and Tannehill didn't even see him. Happens. Rookie mistake, but happens.

Cowboys first and third TDs were against same Fin coverage- cover 2 and both times the safety just got beat. You can especially see it in the last TD- the safety just got drawn from the center of the field and Dez hit the post and broke and the safety was out of position even though the CB had the inside, its a simple throw for a decent QB. But its nice to see that at least they are staying in a base D and not rolling the safeties down. They are just staying base in the secondary, running some dogs and stunts and basically turning their best d players- the d line and backers loose, and you can see the difference in the pressure and stats. The fins are in this game, and I think they will pull it out.

As an aside, Rumpole and I had a long email exchange over the under which I liked and he talked me out of. Thanks Rumpy. You da man.

Not to change the subject, but I've been carefully studying the Saturday Night Massacre in the Watergate case, and while it is apparent Elliott Richardson had to resign when Nixon fired Cox- who Richardson appointed- its not apparent why Ruckelshaus- the deputy AG, didn't listen when Haig told him to fire Cox.

On the following Tuesday, before Judge Sirica, Nixon's lawyers, based on the advice of co-lead counsel Buzhardt to turn over the original nine tapes Cox had sought. So, with the President giving in, there was no reason for Ruckelshaus to resign as well. And finally, they brought in Jaworski and made the same deal with him they made with Cox- unfettered ability to subpoena anything. The fact is that Cox was a Harvard law professor who was at Kennedy's swearing in, and Nixon just hated Harvard eastern liberal elites.

I think Ruckelshaus was the key. If he stayed, Nixon might have survived.

Cox was the key. He refused to resign. He forced the president and Haig's hand. Once they decided to fire Cox it didn't matter if Richardson or Ruckelshaus or Bork pulled the trigger (and remember it was Bork who did carry the President's water and can Cox).

The president had a great lawyer in Len Garment but alienated him which caused Garment to back out of the case and Nixon never got -or listened to the advice he should have. That's what caused his downfall.

Jaworski brought the president down. He should be ashamed of himself. That gave us Ford which gave us Cater, Reagan Bush and then Clinton. No Jaworski then Nixon finishes his term and Kennedy wins in 72 and 76 and maybe Howard Baker or Sam Nunn in 80 and its a whole different line in the presidency. For the better.
