HE'S LOST THAT LOVIN FEELING

UPDATE:  He kept a pistol under his robes, a mini electric chair on his bench, and once said to me "How high can you count" when I asked him to set a bond for my client. Long time cantankerous Judge Daniel Futch has passed away.  Here is the Sun Sentinel Obit.

Phil Spector, music producer, member of the rock and roll hall of fame, founder of the "Wall Of Sound" music of the 1960's was found guilty of second degree murder on Monday in Los Angeles. He faces 18 years in prison.   The title links to the NY Times article.

Meanwhile, in Miami Federal Court, race car driver Helio Castroneves  is still dancin with the Feds as he and his lawyer Roy Black sweat out a jury verdict on tax evasion. If we were the defense attorney, we probably would have tried to avoid getting a verdict during the week of April 15. But what do we know?

And finally, in a move that signals the beginning of drastic changes in US/Cuban relations, President Obama eased restrictions on travel between Cuba and the US. US citizens will now also be able to send as much money as they want to family members on the Island.

Cuba will change. And change is nearer than you think. As history shows, as that is needed is one crack, and the walls and barbed wire of communist oppression will come tumbling down. Remember you read it here first.

We've seen a lot of change in this town.  During the riots, we entered the REGJB with National Guard troops standing guard. But nothing will compare to the day the communist regime in Cuba topples down.

See you in court practicing our Spanish.  As Fredo wondered, "How do you say Banana Daiquiri in Spanish?"

Rumour is Don Horn is in the REG trying a case this week! Can anyone in the know provide details?

I have it on good authority former Judge Jeffrey Swartz filed against Peter Adrien this morning. What a public service.

Don't get me started on how a small bunch of right-wing Cuban exiles in Miami have hijacked our foreign policy towards that nation. Had the U.S. taken the same approach with Castro that they did with Gorbachev in the U.S.S.R., the Castro regime would have fallen in the early or mid 1990s.

As long as we have these right-wing Cuban whack jobs spouting about how even thinking of easing restrictions on travel to Cuba or dialogue with the Cuban regime should result in summary execution, the Castro/communist regime will stay in place. And when the communist regime finally topples, I am getting the hell out of South Florida for at least a week. It will make the McDuffie riots look like a dignified tea party by comparison.

Futch was a sexist, racial, narrow minded idiot. one of the worst judges even in Browierd. His staff treated everyone like shit. How he passed the bar is beyond me. One of the worst ever.

How could Horn try a case when the water coolers need filling? What a joke...

According to the Fla Dept of Elections website, there are only four active races. 3 of them are open seats. Those candidates are listed.

Then, of all the sitting judges up for re-election, only one is listed on the site. That would be Peter Adrien. My guess is that someone did file against him and that person will be listed soon.

Adrien v. Swartz.
Lord help us.

SAW THE GREAT ONE himself chowing down on a massive piece of swordfish at Mortons today. Looked pretty happy. Probably thinking of hitting the links early today. Why not? he invented it all.

don horn try a case? That's priceless. I thought you had to be a lawyer to try a case. He's KFR's waterboy.

the trialmaster defeated Horn many moons ago. and Horn had a lock case. The trialmaster found he was a gentleman but definitely not a trial lawyer.

1:24.........you're a fool. Horn is an excellent trial attorney.

May the lord show more mercy and compassion to Futch than he gave to anyone who ever dealt with him in any capacity. The devil is shaking waiting his arrival.

It's true that DHorn is in trial, however word is that he couldn't find the courthouse. Perhaps he will lose again, as is his custom

John Blecher update- when I ask people where the famed DUI trial lawyer has been, I get the same variation on this answer- "he has married a European Heiress to (and then it varies from a Swiss watch company, to a Swiss candy company, to a French designer, to an English Viscount) and is closing down his practice. I tried calling his office today and got an answering machine.

Can this be true?

8:29:00 pm. Blecher was sighted in the REGJB within the past 48 hours. He had a big smile in his face, therefore, there's got to be some truth to the rumor.

I saw Blecher showing pictures of his Fiancee on his cell phone. Wedding in Paris in June, natch.

10:16 am, how could the U.S. taken the same approach with Castro as it did with Gorbachev when Castro acted in the exact opposite way as Gorbachev? Castro shunned Gorbachev and warned him that the openness of glasnost and the reforms of perestroika would lead to the loss of absolute power.

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

As I stated last week on this site, Jeffrey Swartz would file against Peter Camacho Adrien.

It is official and Swartz has filed his papers in Tallahassee.

to 8:56 PM:

The Fins actually play three night games in 2009; two on Monday night and one on Sunday night. Also, unlike last year where all eight home games started at 1:00 PM, only three of the eight are at 1:00 PM and none in September or October. No "heat" advantage for the Fins this year. Oh yeah, did I mention that they also have the toughest schedule in the NFL.

Sept. 13 at Atlanta, 1 p.m.
Sept. 21 Indianapolis, 8:30
Sept. 27 at San Diego, 4:15
Oct. 4 Buffalo, 4:05 p.m.
Oct. 12 N.Y. Jets, 8:30 p
Oct. 18 BYE
Oct. 25 New Orleans, 4:15 p
Nov. 1 at N.Y. Jets, 1 p.m.
Nov. 8 at New England, 1 p
Nov. 15 Tampa Bay, 1 p.m.
Nov. 19 at Carolina, 8:20 p
Nov. 29 at Buffalo, 1 p.m.
Dec. 6 New England, 8:20 p
Dec. 13 at Jacksonville, 1
Dec. 20 at Tennessee, 1 p
Dec. 27 Houston, 1 p.m.
