A grandfather in NYC is talking to his grandson in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
"You know, there are two wolves inside of me. One Wolf is angry and wants vengeance and retribution against the people who did this. That wolf wants to kill and hurt people.
The other wolf inside of me wants to try and understand why this happened and what can be done in understanding and forgiveness to make sure this never happens again. That wolf seek peace and understanding."
The young boy thinks about this and asks his grandfather
"What wolf will win?"
The grandfather replies "Whichever one I feed."
Something to think about in the New Year.
Happy Holidays from your friends at the best little Justice Building blog around.

Both wolves are inside me too. When it comes to keeping my family safe, I will continue to feed the former. How do I know this is the only way? Because the terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 only have one wolf inside them--the latter.
Rump, If you could correct my comment. I meant to say that the terrorists only have one wolf inside them and it is the former not the latter.

ABE LAESER would love to practice in federal court where the quality of everything is higher, including the judges. Abe, you should move to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The prosecutors are generally older and more experienced. The defense attorneys are more qualified. No inexperienced judges simply because they are from some minority group.
That story has been around a looooooooooooooooooooooong time. I'm surprised a well read guy would cite the parable as an example of this book's power.
Of course, the Trade Center wasn't part of the earlier versions...... usually the story revolves around an "old Cherokee man" speaking to his grandchildren. Jews tell a similar story involving a lion (or wolf) and lamb.
BTDT
you forgot jackie and shelly. alan is retired
Who misses Joseph Morris Gersten?
The wolf that will win is the one that Charlie Crist appoints.
Abe likes a challenge. He wouldn't like it in federal court where the prosecutors are given a tremendous advantage by the laws and rules. Abe fights for his victories but in federal court the government has to do very little fighting to win.
The prosecutors in the US Attorneys office are only older in age because they clerked for a judge. They are jokes compared to the State Attorneys, largely in part to people like Abe, Gary Winston, Laura Adams, Mary Cagle, and other greats who teach the young ASAs what it means to be a prosecutor. Abe, please don't ever leave. The US Attys do not need you, unless it is as the US Atty, under which circumstances, you could make a difference.
I am thankful that the ASAs have those folks there to set an example.
What should happen, is to rotate some AUSAs to the SAO for a little reality check and training on how to be diligent, aggressive and fair.
The below trend is hysterical!!!
Sometimes our readers just crack us up.

I think I know where we can find a nice used one at a good price. With the economy as bad as it is and the possibility of layoffs in the Judicial system, we should all try to save money where we can, and that includes gifts. Can someone please call Maria Dennis's staff and ask where Maria ordered them to hide their fax machine. I'm sure that Judge Miller won't mind a slightly used one.

Rumpole, kudos to your political writer, The Captain. I read an article in today's DBR that The Captain reported on your blog on Monday morning. He was right on with the news about Crist moving up the interviews for supreme court.
Any predictions on who the governor will pick
