UNDERCOVER MOTHER

4:00PM Update- Courthouse still closed and meeting in progress about tomorrow. Stay tuned or check the Broward Blog which has their entire news staff covering this major story.

BREAKING BLOG NEWS: BROWARD COUNTY COURTHOUSE CLOSED TODAY !!!!!!!!!   A crisis of confidence? Nope. Self imposed penance for the way they treat lawyers from Miami? Are you kidding?   A burst pipe has shut down the "justice" system North of the Border.  The courthouse is flooded!!! Karma baby, Karma.

"The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him to His heart. So The Lord said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the ground, man and beast and creeping things and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.....For in seven days I will send rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground." " (Genesis 6:5-7)

And now.... UNDERCOVER MOTHER:

Live long enough and you will see everything . In 2003 John Guica was convicted in New York City of murdering another man.  Guica's mother- Doreen Giuliano was convinced he didn't get a fair trial.  Here's what she did:

She followed several jurors after the trial before settling on one of them. Then she dyed her hair, went to a tanning salon, went to a gym, rented an apartment in his neighborhood, and finally and literally bumped into the juror. Thereupon she established a relationship and tape recorded her conversations with him, eventually steering the topic to the jury he had sat on a few years before. The juror revealed he knew people on the defense witness list and didn't like them and never revealed it. He revealed he was the first one to want to convict the defendant and talked the other jurors into a conviction. Her crowning achievement: getting the juror to say "I should never even have been on that jury." !!!!

The title of the post links to the NY Times story.  The motion for a new trial is pending.  Thoughts? My initial thought- that's why voire dire is so very very important. Just watch Gene Zenobi pick a jury and you'll get an understanding of how to do it right.

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

See You In Court.

ps. It was 68 degrees this morning at 6:00 am.

I'm thinking of writing a school paper on "The Polemic and Neo Conservative differences between Fake Jay White and Fake Pannunzio On Miami's Legal Blog."

Any comments?

BREAKING NEWS: Holiday Shooting and Shots Fired at Dade Land Mall in Kendall!!

Go for it, 7:57:00 a.m! I'm sure you'll get an A+ and, maybe, even some extra credit.

Just a word of caution: lawyers be very careful NOT to give any gifts this year to judges or judicial assistants. Do not do it. Media is watching carefully this year.

Rump_ I have had a rare day. It seemed like the state was ready on every case at the REGJB. Every judge was spoiling for a trial. It was like they all wanted to try some cases before the december slowdown. I didn't get out of there until 1:30 for the morning calendar. Anyone else have the same problem? Anyway, I'm back at my office. Rent is due. So money coming in. I'm beat. I'm calling it a Shumie. 3:58 is kind of early but what the hay? I'm beat. I'm outta here.

Holiday season at a major mall in Kendall, undercover cops everywhere and what happens? A robbery of a guard from Dunbar Armored truck inside the Limited Store next to Cheesecake factory. The culprit's shoot the guard not once or twice but eight times. Now a robbery is a murder case.

The gunmen run through the mall in dark hooded seats during the 11-AM hour and get into a 2000 white Lincoln sedan and escape.

Just a thought. But how in the hell did they get in and out of Dadeland mall find parking, rob and shoot a man and dash out of the maze of the mall parking lot without getting caught? Have you ever tried to find parking there when its not the holidays? Have you ever tried to get out of that maze of a parking lot without 20 cars blocking you in at every turn? For god's sake what happened to the extra holiday police? The undercover cops hired for the holidays?

How did they get away? It cannot be that easy to do what they did in daylight, during holiday shopping, at a major mall, in a major city in the United States!?

IS IT!

No, I won a case this morning. They were not ready on all cases.

I cashed the check and went shopping at Dadeland and was not shot at in the mall.
