The Title of the post links to this disheartening story in the NY Times.
WHO SAID " We are the red-headed, jug-eared, freckle-faced, buck toothed bastard stepchildren of the federal government?"
Click here to find out. Hint: it was not Chief Justice John Roberts.
Where can a police officer rape a woman and not go to prison? Hint: Look about 24 miles to the north of our courthouse.
Lets try the over 42 for 100 tonight to get back in the game after a difficult weekend in the NFL.

IS THERE a rule when someone can call "Shumie time" for the day? Do I have to wait until after 4:30? Or can call the Shumie whenever I damn well please?
I'm kinda of new at this. Please advise.
fellow attorneys: It seems that some time ago there was a county court judge in Collier County who gave an east coast lawyer a difficult time when he failed to appear in court in Naples. Does anyone have any info on this ? any help is appreciated. thank you
I had the pleasurable occasion to meet "fake Blake" from this blog over the weekend at a quiet, neighborhood watering hole in Kendall.
he is a pleasant gentleman and nothing like the individual he portrays on this blog.
Rookie: "Call it when you feel it."
That's the motto of Shumie Time, Inc.
Any truth to the rumors: Adrien, Areces, Leban, Reyes, Schlesinger, Schwartz and Thomas to civil; Barzee Flores, Colodny, Cueto, S. Glick, Pineiro, Sanchez-Llorens, Sayfie, Trawick and Zabel to criminal; Eig to Dependency????
RIP Milton Ferrell. Never saw him and Desi Arnaz together.
Just wondering which So BE hack wannabe was quietly asked to leave the Fountainbleau Victoria Secrete's PArty this weekend because he was an embarassment, even when he was escorted to his Porsche (leased).
OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE SEND ADRIEN TO CIVIL- his total lack of legal knowledge and judicial skills is sure to make them nuts and create opponents.
Now just hold on here one cotton picking moment. They're moving judges. And next week is Thanksgiving. New years is almost here. Sounds like a great reason for a continuance, and perhaps it should be charged to the state?
It's almost over. The Moldovan crew has crushed the Gavaria crew. When Frank lost Mendy, it was inevitable he would lose this war.

I've received an extremely nasty and aggressive email from Real Fake Blecher. Anybody know this guy or do I have to tune him up myself?
anyone else get the sense that Shuminer, Blecher and Pracitto spend all day commenting on this blog?
Rump, I am an avid blog reader. As an "outsider" I must say I enjoy when you and your fans talk about national topics because just for those few precious moments, I feel apart of this blog. I love to read this blog, can not relate or understand because Im not in the biz...but feel like you and the bloggers are my close friends, because you are all smart as hell and really fucking interesting.
Anywise, Ive waited a long time to find the right topic to post on the blog that share's kind of a peice of my life. I am a fan from Cleveland OH, and after having lived in Miami for 2 years, and moving back to Cleveland ONLY because my family and a close friend needed me, constantly wishing I was back in Miami, Im really excited about sharing this post.
Rather than being bitter about not being in Miami, I've decided to embrace Cleveland...and I will tell you, its really hard! Take your neighbor home foreclosing reality, triple it, and imagine for one moment the reality here in Cleveland. What's worse, is that during this time of year...you REALLY wonder where the people will go when its 20 degrees and we are expecting 10 inches of snow. What's wrenching is the thought of the elderly and children. Check out this story. It, to me, epitomizes our current frantic financial state. It also, to me, makes me so proud to be a Clevelander (really wishing I was in Miami).
I hope you like my first "real" blog posting on the best fucking blog in the world...Justice Building Blog.
Elderly Couple Foreclosure
NORTH CANTON - With minutes to go until the Stark County Sheriff's foreclosure auction Monday, the home of an elderly North Canton couple was pulled from the sale.
83-year-old William Hammen and his 85 year old wife Bette, have lived in the same house they inherited from Bette's parents in 1965. But in 2006, William signed up for a $105,000 mortgage.
He says he only remembers that two people came to the house, telling him to sign some papers. Friends learned only recently the couple had defaulted. They say the couple lacks the mental capacity to handle their finances.
They also learned the couple had their car repossessed and the gas was shut off due to non-payment. To make matters worse, William had sent thousands of dollars to Nigeria in a lottery scam.
Aquaintances scrambled to prevent the couple from ending up on the street.
"I've been in tears over this. This has been so sad," says Maureen Morrell, a former neighbor who's known the couple for 30 years. She hooked the Hammens up with a foreclosure negotiator, Marshall Brown.
Brown, of Plain Township, volunteered his services. He says he made repeated calls to CitiMortgage, the company that holds their note. He's not sure why the lender finally agreed to withdraw the sale but he says in one of his last conversations, he told the lender he would involve Congress and the media.
An attorney for CitiMortgatge did not return Fox 8 TV's calls. Morrell says the Hammen's have no children. They do have a case manager with Adult Protective Services. "Hopefully, they will get them in a pay program where somebody will pay their bills and watch over their money."
Rump.........as usual, your attention to presenting balanced points is right on target.
We hear about the allegedly large number of innocents cleared all the time..........what most advocates (other than you) fail to mention is that a large numbers of those who are released are not truly cleared (of course, every innocent person's conviction is intolerable........but that's not the point). Rather, they are released because there is some modicum of doubt that convinces an ethical prosecutor to do something (thank God for those prosecutors). The truth is, our system is the greatest in the world. And, that's at least partially because there are enough of us around to discuss its strengths and weaknesses honestly, warts and all.
BTDT
BTDT- WE DO NOT have the greatest system of justice in the world. Far from it. I've been in the middle of it for a few decades now. First- this so called wonderful precious right to trial- how wonderfully American. Until you lose and a two year plea offer becomes 35 because you had the temerity to go to trial. Our sentencing system is a disgrace. And many many innocent people caught up in the system take pleas because we train plumbers better than we train trial lawyers.
I could go on and on...and I will on a post.
As to my friend fast for Cleveland. Thanks for reading. I am glad you enjoy the Blog. Embrace Cleveland!!! Bully for you. Except you have to deal with the Brownies. But besides that, great story with a real national interest. Mortgage scams on the elderly are despicable acts. Thanks for contributing.
From your Clevelander friend...we'll see about the Brownies tonight!
Pass me a beer.
6:05 PM- Here's the problem- I doubt between the three of them they have the ability to sign up for AOL, much less post a comment to a blog. So the problem with your reasoning is that you discount their total stupidity.
whoever has AOL is living in the 90's. i doubt shuminer, blecher or praciito are still AOL users, mook.
pracitto is too busy defending every wife beater in dv court to be on the blog
I just read about the passing of Milton Ferrell, Jr. So very sad to hear.
I will miss his laugh - even if I always told him how much it bothered me to hear it.
He was a true gentleman. He gave proof to the concept that a prosecutor can do extremely well in the business community
Sad day, which many of us - unfortunately - knew was coming.
Yes, this "SOBE" hack was in attendance at the Victoria Secret soiree. The food was unparalleled. The entertainment was first rate (gotta love Usher). The eye candy was... You already know. The after-party was a sight to behold. Lastly, yes, the Porsche is leased.
