MAKING FACES

Miami Criminal Defense attorney Bruce Lehr closed out a nasty case this week. Lehr was involved in the case where four defendants were charged in the beating death of a homeless man. The plea was to manslaughter and ten years followed by probation.

The Herald article by you know who is

Speaking of North of the Border, the Broward Blog has the details on Judge Geoffrey Cohen dashing from the bench and assisting the courtroom deputies in subduing an unruly tough.

Meanwhile in Naples, Circuit Judge Fred Hardt was caught making faces at the jury as a defense attorney gave an opening statement. The Judge eventually granted a mistrial, but somehow four minutes of tape recording the pertinent portion has been erased. The reporter responsible for the recording, a Ms. Rosemary Woods, has not commented on the "gap".

The Naples News article is below.
FACES

Rumpole suggests that the Judges in Naples get one of those fancy computer systems that our Judges have here. Then, instead of making faces, the Judges in Naples could do what our Judges do here- send emails to each other mocking the attorneys in their courtrooms.

Here's another reason for those of us who stalk the halls of the REGJB to stay out of Federal Court: Mold. The Herald reports today that the mold problem in the Old Courthouse is worse than has been reported before.

MOLD

By the time most of you read this on Wednesday Senator Clinton will have been declared the winner of the Pennsylvania primary.
What does that mean? A contested convention. Something to do during the summer besides watching re-runs.

See You In Court, where having a judge make faces during our opening statements has long been one of the things we enjoy most about trying cases.

That case was local, not "North of the Boarder." It was in Schlesinger before moving to backup.

You are correct. Thanks. I have changed the post.

Congrats to Rumpole, who was interviewed on a national sports blog in February. Identified as a local Miami Blogger who successfully picks NFL football games, Rump was asked about what the Dolphins would do in the draft:

Rumpole: " I am pretty sure they will draft Jake Long"

NSB: "Most mock drafts have the Fins grabbing Chris Long."

Rumpole:"No for two reasons. 1) The new head coach was the O line coach in Dallas, so he wants the big hog for the O line. 2) I have seen their draft board. If it's not Jake Long, then they have Dorsey and Gholston higher rated than Chris Long. Even LB Keith Rivers and Darren McFadden are higher on their board than Chris Long."

NSB: "And how sure are you of this?"

Rumpole: "Lets just say I know how Parcells likes his steak and where he likes to eat."

There you have it- Over two months ago our Rump on a national blog correctly predicting the dolphins pick. Take a bow Rumpole.

I wonder how many readers know that Rosemary Woods was the secretary to Richard Nixon and Nixon will always be famous for missing tapes or parts of tapes?
