Rump- a re-print from my fantastic review yesterday so your readers know what to do today. And after the show, can I suggest a bite at Sushi Samba? A great combo!
No Country for Old Men is as good a film as the Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan, have ever made, and they made "Fargo." It involves elements of the thriller and the chase but is essentially a character study, an examination of how its people meet and deal with a man so bad, cruel and unfeeling that there is simply no comprehending him. A bounty hunter trying to recover drug money named "Chigurh" is so evil, he is almost funny sometimes. "He has his principles," says the bounty hunter hired by the business man who owns the money and wants to find Chigruh (the bounty hunter for the bounty hunter is Woody Harrelson), who has knowledge of him.
The movie twists and turns at its own pace and is a rewarding film for film's sake, forgoing the sappy hollywood ending that we could otherwise see ten miles off. None of that here, and we are better off for it. Go see this movie.
I was ripped off. I wrote a wonderful short story called "No Ice Tea for Old Shumies'" which is the tragic tale of a waiter who serves Ice Tea to Shumie. Shumie doesn't know the restaurant charges by the glass, and 18 dollars later he emerges in a rage and spends the next months stalking the waiter. As one character points out to the frightened waiter- "If it was your 18 dollars, would you rest?"
You know, as much as I could hope that today's holiday would be pleasant in some fashion, I was disappointingly given news that will prevent it. Your favorite massacre-chaser of Miami, Jack Thompson is now threatenibg to sue NIU after their recent tragedy because they don't want to play ball with his crusade of "ban everything I don't like" and won't let him interfere with the investigation:

Its bad enough they have to deal with Fred Phelps and his ilk at presently, but adding him to the equation is clearly not fair to anyone at the university. Sadly, until he gets disbarred he will be considered a representative of Miami.
Let's see, the NIU shooter was in the Army for a year. He was also seen playing a video game 3-4 years ago. Which does Happy Jack believe is more likely to have caused him to snap? The video game, of course.

Folks, much more disturbing is that when you go to the game politics link, and look at the picture, and then go here

There is a scary resemblance
The script was turned into a film short called "More Ice Tea Mr. Shumie?" and won honorable mention at the New Brunswick Film Festival in 2004. The Cohen brothers stole their idea from that film.
You all should go over to that gamepolitics site - they don't hold back in their opinions of JT.
But to show how serious they take him, here's my favorite of the almost 200 comments:
"Where was Jack Thompson in the early 80s when all those kids were dying of Pac-Man fever?"
Did someone actually write yesterday that they could not stomach being a prosecutor? That remark, in one brief sentence, says loads about the character of that person.
If my wife were dying of cancer, I wouldn't spend my time trying to tie an Army vet's break with reality on video games.

I must have missed the memo. What does it say about the person?
