FOOTBALL POOL 2012

UPDATE: Take the Giants tonight and lay the 4.

The football pool is heating up, with many of your favourite regulars, and a few newbies, all out to show they can pick one winning team a week.
Robin Faber and BTDT impressively sent picks for the entire season. We shall see if their confidence is borne out in their picks.
Faber starts off with da Bears, BTDT the Lions, Jon Colby the Patriots, DOM the Saints, while Orlando Gonzalez picks the Bears.
Rumpole is leaning heavily towards the Texans at home over the Dolphins, although the Vikes at home over the Jaguars seems a good pick as well.

The following other players are signed up and ready to go: 52nd street Irwin (who's not out, but has limited access to a computer), Fake Alex Michaels, Juan Gonzalez, Orlando Rodriguez, Adam Tebrugge, Stephen Immasche, Peter Sautter, Clay Kaiser, Brian Freedman, Michael Grieco, Itikhar Memon (the most annoying name in the pool every year), Michael Feiler, Dustin Tischler, Marshall Dore Louis, Rick Freedman, Dan Lurvey, Fake Joel Brown, Angry Girl, Kenny Weisman, and The soon to be honorable Miguel De La Over.

That's 25 players so far,  if you're counting at home. Remember the 2012 season kicks off Wednesday
Personally, we like the Texans at home over the struggling Dolphins. But that could change.

Remember: the season opens Wednesday: Cowpokes at Giants.

Have fun.

Lines we're watching to see how they move: Broncos -1 1/2 over Steelers;  Green Bay -5 over 49'ers;  Giants -4 over Dallas.

Best gambling tip: As we have shown time and time again, the time to make money in the NFL is in the first three weeks of the season where you have identified the trends the betting public is not aware of. Find a team ready to break out and double down on it and laugh all the way to the bank. Watch the Bengals closely against the Ravens in week one. Even if they don't win, they could easily go 10-6 this year, while the Steelers, if the injury bug keeps up, could easily go 6-10.

Congratulations to Judge Rebull who got the equivalent to a shout-out from the Third DCA today, and SHAME SHAME to Miltie Hirsch who was taken to the woodshed. Mr. Chief Justice Milton Hirsch, aren't you tired of getting reversed? Aren't you embarrassed that defense attorneys, prosecutors, the public and even other judges all think you are heel? Please go away and leave the robe behind.

The Honorable Milton Hirsch was mentioned by name in an opinion today where he wasn't even the judge being appealed. Ha ha Hirsch!

Michael Feiler FTW!

Miltie should be PISSED at the PD'S office for taking that appeal! Another fine example from John Eddy Morrison and Daniel Tibbit!

Poor Justice Hirsch!

Ive never like Milt because he takes himself very seriously and feels that he is better then the rest. However, you all are fucking insane to say he is not a good judge. He is.

Heard that Milt will present a lecture on September 12 about the exclusionary rule. I bet the Third will find a way to reverse his lecture, if anyone shows up for it. 1 free CLE credit isn't much of a selling point.

Hmmmmm... poor Judge Hirsch, I don't think sooo... He tries to illegally alter a colleague's ruling AGAIN (as he has done at least twice before within the last year), then he denies knowing that he is not permitted to do so under the law....This should make PDs ASAs and judges all sick to their stomach and seriously nervous....

Queen Latifa fucking rocked it...that is as good a national anthem as i have heard.

Oh J. Hirsch how many people will it take to counsel you??

In difficult times like these, I am often drawn to the last words of my friend Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of post war West Germany:
"Da jitt et nix zo kriesche!" (Cologne dialect for "There's nothin' to weep about!")

Rumpole- my new boyfriend is a big football fan and a big Cowboy fan. I am trying to keep up with the game. I keep hearing the announcers talk about "the nickel" Can you help me out? Love is at stake.

Rumpole said...

Sure- happy to help. I will assume you know some basics. The Nickel is a defense. It is a defense employed when the defense believes the offense is going to pass the ball. In the most common and basic form of a defense there are 4 defensive linemen, three linebackers, and four defensive backs. (4-3-4) The Nickel is simply taking out one of the linebackers and replacing him with a fifth (nickel) defensive back.

In the current form of defenses in which some teams play a 3-4-4, some coaches may remove one of the defensive lineman and put in the nickel back, making the defense a 2-4-5, in which one of the four linebackers then blitzes. But that is more fancy than you need to know. The Nickel is simply replacing one other player with a fifth defensive back.
Hope this helps.

Please explain your comment. John & Dannel are VERY GOOD Attorneys. Why say a snotty thing because they took up a case , argued and won. Sounds like good lawyering.

John Eddy Morrison and Daniel Tibbet were on the losing side of the Hirsch/Rebull bond issue. Rebull found PC and took the Defendant in on VOP warrant. Hirsch ROR'd him a few days later on an emergency PD motion. State brought it back up before Rebull, Rebull took him back in. PDs then appealed Rebull's decision to take the Defendant back in on a habeas petition, the State cross petition, granted the State's, basically saying Hirsch overstepped his authority. Defendant is, as far as one can tell, being held. Not a comment on their decision to appeal, but just to clarify, they did lose this one.

Dateline Charlotte ... Live from the floor of the DNC ...

Senatorial Candidate Elizabeth Warren just spoke. She is running for the seat held by Teddy Kennedy. Not a very dynamic speaker at all. Got rousing applause, but they could have found a more inspiring speaker.

Next up, rock star Bill Clinton.

Finally, people are starting to see that Milton Hirsch really is a heel! He was an unethical attorney and now he is an embarrassment as a judge.

Anonymous said...

Cause they fucked over their own client and screwed the judge who helped him . Duh!

Bill Clinton FTW!

DS, it is apparent that you do not know how to spell. Do you know how to read? The PDs filed a writ and it was denied. Bright young Nicholas Merlin filed a cross petition and it was granted. Not a win. Not good lawyering.

President Bill Clinton:

"What works in the real world is cooperation."

"Obama is committed to constructive cooperation"

"Partnership over partisanship".

"Democracy does not have to be a blood sport."

"Republicans want to double down on trickle down"

A little long, a little too substantive for most folks, but he certainly rocked the house and sold Obama and his vision to the American people very well.

It was a great experience to be here in person and feel the energy of the crowd and the way their spirit was so energized by the former President.

Tomorrow we hear from the man himself, President Obama and we also get to hear VP Joe Biden speak. Because of severe weather in the area, unfortunately for about 40,000 folks, they will not be able to see it live, as they have decided to move the venue from the football stadium back inside to their current location.

See you all tomorrow.

Cap Out ...

Judge Milton Hirsch makes Miami-Dade Circuit Court a more interesting place (win, lose or draw). And for those nasty hacks who viciously attack him try to contain your jealousy and self-hatred.
