Attention All County Court Soldiers! The Colonel is in the House.
At ease soldiers, take a knee.
The major shake up in County Court has been the replacement of Judge Bloom with Judge Hague. Things are not going smoothly in Judge Hague's Courtroom, mostly because of Judge Hague's intransigence, which the comment below perfectly states:

Dear Judge Slom et al. Why did I have a case infront of Judge Hague at 9:30 am but did not leave his court room until almost 11:30 am? Please tell me why he must go through the calendar in alphabetical order, refuse to take attorney's out of turn and then wait to be done with every other calendar before going back to a certain time! I lost valuable time, I wept on the inside as precious seconds, minutes, then hours passed away from my not so young life and then were gone forever! Which in turn made me late for every single Judge I had to see that morning. Really annoying. Give the bar some respect.

In the category of piling on Judge Hague, his j.a. is utterly unhelpful.
If you don't like how Andy runs his courtroom, let the JNC know about it:

What's a solider?
1) Sam Slom manages to pander to the Defense bar and still do an unsatisfactory job....its time to be done with him and his miami vice suit wearing, diet pepsi gallon size drinking, nuclear tanning, wish I was still a prosecutor even though I was nothing remarkable, attitude.
2) stop worrying about parking and the escalators, from my recent survey of the bar, it looks like walking a few dozen miles a day would not be a horrible thing for most of you- including you rummpers
3) I know, I know, not all of us are PDs who work two hours a day and have 8 left to work out.....and still don't....because we are spending our time on depos....on DWLS cases....and trying to get a trial out of it
4) for the record, I am a very disgruntled RGB regular who watched it go from the pickle barrel gilded age where blogs did not exist and were definitely not where an administrative judge made a point, to a bad rerun of poor lawyering bolstered by unchecked ego, and too much time spent on making sure everyone feels like he is doing an exceptional job.
there needs to be a bit more reality in RGB
i have no sympathy for thottom feeders who roam Kounty Kourt. I just charged 50k for a plea in federal court and got paid.
Excellent suggestion to write our thoughts to the JNC!
Words of wisdom,
whether you start counting marbles from the left, right or middle will not matter. Who cares which case is called first!
im gonna write the JNC about Vicky the major B----h Brennan. That woman is a monster. Probably nothing as mean and nasty since Peter Adrian Camacho. Except Brennan has a bit more brains which makes her dangerous. I would give anything to see that witch off the bench.
Re Andy, good guy but commmmmmmmmon man why wont you take attorneys out of turn. Do you think you're the only one who gets to make a living. Do you think you are so important that you can tie up every lawyer in your courtroom all morning. Haven't seen anything like his calendar in years. But ill take Andy's turtle calendars any day over Brennan. that woman is pure evil.
Hague is another example of a judge who was never in private practice. Went from straight from the SAO to the bench. Does it surprise you that he would do this?
I agree about Victoria Brennan. She seems to enjoy beating up wife beaters. They may have it coming but, not from the judge.
If you even come close to pushing your position with her so, makes sure your client is screwed and you look like a jerk.
I too hope she stays in domestic where she doesn't interact with many lawyers.
Rumpole:
Perhaps some of your guests would be interested in donating some helpful biographical lines on our local elected officials? If so, they can stop by the purely non-commercial wiki: http://southflorida.wikispot.org
Uncle Milty - major constitutional level foul in bond court....who will tell the story?
In 2003 I saw Hague botch an Arthur hearing, give a guy a extremely low bond and the guy later fled, having paid the bond in cash and no one to look for him. Hague sucked then, could have sucked as the statewide prosecutor and sucks now. Give it up, go back to Hialeah before i send you to Alaska!
Whats the deal with these DUI guys? Is Blecher taking section 6 and retiring or will he be eligible for the upcoming fantasy DUI draft? Best said he was retiring last year and then someone took him in a late round and he had a bang up year.
Commmmme on man.....give a brotha a break.
I wouldn't take Blecher under any circumstances. His knees are shot and his 40 time is way below average. Those young guys in the PDs office are too slick - Blecher can't keep up.
By jove, i think i 've got it ( twitter).
Feet of clay- re blecher duis.
Judge Brennan is such a nice addition to the he-girls man-hating club at 175. Difference is she is mean, nasty, and only about half as smart as she thinks she is. She should be handling civil in County Court. She would still see as many girls, but wouldn't get as much satisfaction because she wouldn't be able to jail the men.
Response to person who commented on Judge Galzer-
To say she is one of the best judges we have is so removed from reality it boggles the mind. I could throw a dead cat into ABP or La Loggia, and if I were lucky enough to hit a judge and not a janitor, I can guarantee that person would be better suited to sit in judgement of others than Glazer.
Wait, I take that back. I would rather have the janitor orthe dead cat.
I was assigned to her courtroom in Juvi a few years back. She never missed an opportunity to dress down an ASA or PD for the smallest of perceived mistakes. Then when she was done with the lawyers, she felt no reluctance to reprimand any parent who had a problem child and was at their wits end, not knowing what to do.
She had no business reprimanding any attorney, as she was no great trial attorney herself, by all accounts. And that she would sit up there and lecture a parent who was doing everything they could to reel in an out of control kid, is just beyond the pale.
If a bus were about to hit her in the street I wouldn't tell her to look out. She repeatedly showed herself to just be a miserable rotten person.
Just had to pass this along.. Gave me nostalgia for law school.

I am a little confused by the flury of comments concerning Judge Hague's calendar because his procedure is to call all of the attorneys first on a first com first serve basis on the current calandar (he will even switch out of that calendar for good cause) and then move on to the PD cases and Pro Se's. That procedure is probably what slows his overall calendar down but you can't have it both ways because he does try to accomodate the private bar. Saying that he refuses to call attorneys out of turn or that he calls the calendar strictly by the alphabet is simply not true.
2:36, you must be confused, it doesn't have to be true to write it on the blog. Whether Hague takes lawyers out of turn doesn't matter. It's just about writing shit and getting people to jump on board. You'll get it at some point.
I, and I am sure many others, would like to hear the story about Uncle Milty and the major constitutional level foul in bond court. Let's hear it!
If Uncle Milty did tell his client Casey to skip bail and leave the country when he was in private practice, it’s kind of ironic he’s now doing bond hearings.
Judge Hague speaks at 2:36. Still trying to garner support for a Cicuit Court seat. The sad part is, if gets out, he is just the kind of asshole Rick Scott would like. Heaven help us.
to "the trialmaster said..."Why don't you use that 50k to learn to spell! Bottom Feeders in county court! Many very good attorneys are in county court, and there is plenty of money to be made. What are you in 6th grade and want to bully the kids in the playground for their lunch money. Give me a break, go get a life.
