WE DON'T LIKE IKE

UPDATE: JOSEPHINE. WELCOME TO THE PARTY

IKE'S PATH?

WWII not withstanding.....

Just remember what the government scientists say: "There is no global warming. Al Gore is a kook. There is no global warming. Al Gore is a kook."

If you repeat it long enough when you have nothing else to do (like when you're sitting in a dark house with no power because one of the dozen of killer hurricanes that have nothing to do with global warming have finally struck you down) then you may in fact one day believe it- despite all the evidence to the contrary.

It's actually a form of meditation and it works. George Bush and Dick Cheney spent hours repeating "there are weapons of mass destruction...there are weapons of mass destruction" despite all the evidence to the contrary.

See You in Court when it's  not closed for a hurricane warning.

PS. Don't for one second let your guard down about Hurricane Hanna. Despite the fact they think it's going north, they really have no idea. This storm just sits there spinning and defying predictions.  Meanwhile keep an eye on Ike, and if you have any time left, work on your cases.

PSS. We're entering the second news cycle after the Palin storms, and a little birdie told me that over night polling is starting to show negative effects on the McCain campaign on issues of vetting Palin, and his decision to select her.

Also Dolphins are 3 point dogs with the J...E...T...S coming to town. Lay the points and go with gang green this week. Our NFL coverage starts Thursday with our predictions on the league and then Sunday we will have a full slate of picks for you.

Finally, with a tip o the hat to Miguel De La O, we came across this quote from Collin Powell:

"He didn't have a lot of experience in running a presidential campaign, did he?"
-- Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, interviewed on Good Morning America,  when asked if Sen. Barack Obama had enough experience to be president.

WORD OF THE DAY

GRAVID

grav·id (grvd)
adj.
Carrying developing young or eggs: a gravid uterus; a gravid female.
[Latin gravidus, from gravis, heavy;

USE: The moron in charge of vetting Sarah Palin for the McCain campaign never thought to ask whether her 17 year old daughter might be gravid.

Couple of blog thoughts:

1) With the storm of Palin and her daughter "the the candidate have a Palin problem?" now enter the political lexicon for whether the candidate has children that are pregnant out of wedlock?

2) Something about Ike tells me it may be shumie time for Miami.

3) There is another storm behind Ike, in case anyone is wondering.

Palin will drop out in a week.

I love the spinners trying to save her from her inexperience

She is cute though

Funny stuff last night, the spinners were so out of control one of them yelled at Carville, saying he was "offensive to women." (Talking point 35)

He said "maaam, let me remind, you I TRIED TO GET A WOMAN ELECTED PRESIDENT."

I share your concerns about global warning. However, as someone who has lived in Florida as long as you have should know, we're in a heavy cycle right not (weather patterns bring us a couple of decades of major hurricane activity followed by a couple decades of light hurricane activity).

If they say Palin's daughter's pregnancy is a "private family matter" and shouldn't be covered, then why the hell should there be national abstinence programs or laws on abortions?

You think that "what's his name" is going to fool me and get your pathetic comment published? Sorry "jack"-ass, you lose. How are those subpoenas coming? Why don't you go file Bar complaints against Palin for letting her Daughter get pregnant and the entire Bar of Louisiana for some imagined slight?

I guess with no clients you have nothing better to do than read this blog. Enjoy. You can read. You just can't post a comment. You can read can't you?

See it occurs to me that these right wing christian republicans are so busy complaining about video games and hollywood movies that they don't have time for their own family. And then what happens? Well in Sarah Palin's case she was rolling around in the igloo before she was married, and the eloped and had her first son EIGHT months later; and rather than getting counseling and prayer to help with the problem BOOM like mother like daughter.

Hillary didn't get pregnant before marrying Bill, and neither has Chelsea gotten pregnant before marriage. Neither of the Democratic presidential candidates have a problem with unwanted children- but the right wing christian conservative who spends so much time complaining about the effects of movies and video games on family values- she's got the problem.

That's called being a hypocrite.

Global warming? Let me get this straight. Y'all are lawyers, right? You're trained to accumulate and persuasively (that being the key word) argue evidence to support your position, right?

So the Earth is some billions of years old and we, the enlightened human race, are going to decide with what . . . 100 years of evidence maybe . . . that there is this thing called Global Warming and not consider any other explanation?

Un, huh.

Rumpole, as a Native Alaskan I am deeply offended by your comment about Sarah Palin "rolling around in the igloo." You need to show better sensitivity. Maybe I should consider hiring Jack Thompson to sue you????

I come here to read about "sex", lies and video tapes in the REG, not to view porno on the side bar. For our gay friends wearing the robe you should at least be considerate and sensitive to the needs of those who bat for the other team.

Rumpole when you say:

"jack"-ass, you lose"

You will need to be more specific as you have just described 90% of browards judiciary and a few dade judges.

"Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence party (AIP) before becoming an elected Republican official, according to party members, and recorded a video message for the AIP convention this year. The AIP's chief goal is securing Alaska a vote on seceding from the US, a goal that party leaders believe the state was denied before it became part of the US almost 50 years ago."

"In response to the AIP flap, the McCain camp denied that Palin was a party member and released voter registration documents that showed her affiliating with Republicans. "If the Alaska Independence Party at some point taught Governor Palin their secret handshake, there is no record of it," McCain aide Michael Goldfarb wrote on the campaign's website. "Otherwise, the only relevant criterion for membership in a party is registration -- and Palin has never been a member of the AIP."

So let me see if I get this right. She is part of an anti-US secessionist party and is VP nomimee on a ticket that talks about America first? About how the Republican party is more red, white and blue than any liberal Democrat? Yet she came from a background of wanting to secede from the US when her party all the time is trying to denounce Obama as a Muslim terrorist?

I've seen it all now.

Rump, look who's coming to dinner has a myspace page and the Herald has excerpts before it was made private:

"[Levi] Johnston says he is ''in a relationship,'' but on the question about how he feels about children he said: ``I don't want kids.''

He also says his true love is ice hockey.

Here's part of his entry before it was made private:

'I'm a f--kin' redneck who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes. But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s--t and just f--kin' chillin' I guess. Ya f--k with me I'll kick ass."

Status: ``In a relationship.''

Children: ``I don't want kids.''

I guess if McCain was going for the rednecks that would never vote for a Black crowd "Bingo"!

Rumpole - are you gynecologist to Hillary and Chelsea? How do you know they did not get pregnant before marriage? Perhaps they did but chose to exercise their reproductive rights.

9:30 no I am not a doctor. However, I am Bill Clinton, so I should know.

So do you think this occured in the Palin/McCain household:

"Yes, I do, and I won't say it for little Baby Ears over there, but it rhymes with 'Shmashmortion.' I'm just saying-- Hold on, John, cover your ears. ..."

rumpole/bill clinton: you're a retard if you really think you should know - only the woman knows for sure...you could be right if Hillary never cheated on you (it would probably be with a woman, though) and sexual intercourse between you two was limited to the use of cigars as a reliable contraceptive method.
