SERIOUS MATTER

We just took down a post that violates a basic rule: a post about a judge's personal life. We also removed several follow-up posts. This blog is not about smearing a Judge for personal matters. If anyone's personal matters affect their public work, then that is fair game. Please, if you enjoy this blog, do not post rumors about a Judge or attorney's personal life.

Hey, Rumpole,

There are programs that certain blogs offer that can allow you to approve all posts before they get posted to your site. I'm not a blogger, so I can't direct you to any specific program, but I have posted ot blogs that have these. To prevent further incidents like this in future, maybe you should look into one of these programs. It would go a long way towards stamping out potentially harmful rumors.

I wish Rumpole had just deleted silently. Now I gotta ask a hundred people if they caught it before it was deleted.

Very noble, but you leave up a post that accuses a JA of giving his judge oral sex????

Censorship is always a tough call - but Rumpole has chosen to delete a post that had to do with a personal matter involving a judge.

An interesting parallel took place on the THE WEST WING tonight when, during the fictional election for President, one candidate discovered that his opponent might have a illegitimate child, and they had to decide whether to use the information and make it public.

The campaign manager felt that the public had a right to know about the judgment of a potential president as that could reflect on his decision making in the future.

BACK TO REALITY:

This particular Judge that was mentioned in the deleted blog, (whom I will not name again) is up for re- election as a Judge. He is married and he, if the rumor were true, may be having an extramarital affair.

This judge may sit in the Family Division and may have to make difficult decisons on very difficult matters affecting family and children. He may sit in the Criminal Division and have domestic issues appear before him in relation to a criminal matter.

Does the public have a right to know if one of their elected officials, one who sits in judgment of his/her fellow human being, if they are having an extramarital relationship?

I will throw that out to you bloggers; what say you? and Rump, I assume that my blog will not be censored...

Yes. As the public, I must know everything about a Judge. Everything. He sits injudgment of me, so I want to know every sordid deatil about his life. We will worry about his political stance and last name later. All I want to know is how often he gets laid outside the marraige, and then I can base my decision. Also, knowing how long he lasts will also influence my decision.

Of course, If I dont like the guy, I would NEVER use this information to publicly embarass him. That would be the epitome of american cliche politics, and i will have none of it. I care about the issues, not just slamming someone I dont agree with.

By the way, its ok if my candidate is a horndog, but if your is a horndog, im calling Joan Fleisherman.
