ENOUGH

We surrender today. 41 posts. Arguments raging back and forth. Cites to the Judicial Code Of Conduct. Mostly good stuff, but we feel a bit overwhelmed. Gratified to have readers, but overwhelmed nonetheless.

However, this witty post made our day and deserves front page status:

When I read that D'Arce said he was targeted on Suspicion of Being Rumpole (SOBR), I nearly dropped my danish I was laughing so hard. But Rory was nearby, so I thought better of it.

Rumpole replies, observe the anatomy of a clever post: 1) It creates a new acronym SOBR, which is relevant and is hereby adopted (although we loathe the subject); 2) it references a continuing joke from our earliest days when no one was reading us. Great post, take a bow.

To the reader thoughtful enough to post the Miami “no credit” Herald article written by a woman who has been banned from the blog- since we banned her, we will not reprint her trite tripe. We are not referring to our favorite Herald scribe Oh Susannah, but that writer of tepid talk of the town.

D’Arce is done. He has been examined more thoroughly than Dick Cheney’s shotgun. Hopefully, tomorrow brings new topics.

See You In Court.

Sung to the tune of Cole Porter’s De-lovely.

The election is near, and the skies are clear
And if you want to be a judge dear
It's delightful, it's delicious, it's D’Arces.

I understand the reason why
You're running for judge,
well so am I
It's delightful, it's delicious, it's D’Arces

So please be sweet, my chickadee
And when I bill ya mucho bucks, say to me
"It's delightful, it's delicious, it's delectable, it's delirious,
It's dilemma, it's de limit, it's deluxe, it's D’Arces.

Courthouse computer of judge's aide seized... From the Miami Herald:

The Miami-Dade state attorney's office on Wednesday seized a courthouse computer used by Juan F. D'Arce Jr., judicial assistant to County Judge Ivan Hernandez.
D'Arce, 34, who has a side consulting business called Pericles International Enterprises, is under investigation for allegedly doing private political consulting on court time, and using heavy-handed tactics to solicit clients. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Tuesday evening, state attorney investigator Robert Fielder served a subpoena on Linda Kelly Kearson, general counsel of the 11th judicial circuit, at Kearson's office in the Flagler Street courthouse.
----
[D'Arce's attorney] sent a two-page letter Wednesday to Miami-Dade Assistant State Attorney Richard Scruggs, who is overseeing the D'Arce probe. ''Your office, which is headed by one of the last remaining pillars of the Democratic Party in Miami-Dade County, is being used as an offensive weapon against a relatively defenseless Republican political operative,'' Ferro wrote.
Scruggs could not be reached for comment.

If I were Ferro, I probably wouldn't have identified my client as a "political operative."

Here is the most interesting part of the case you posted.

Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
Angel Luis García, Carmen García et al., Plaintiffs and respondents
v.
World Wide Entertainment Co., Darrin McGillis, Defendants and petitioners
No. CE-92-126
San Juan, Puerto Rico, December 24, 1992

"The plaintiffs alleged that both contracts were void because they were contrary to law, morals and public policy. As second cause of action, plaintiffs alleged that defendants (McGillis and boyfriend) had physically abused and sexually harassed the minor, for which they sought damages."
