We have exclusive audio and video footage of what is being called "The Great Escalator Fire of 2022"
UPDATE #1:
The fire is out. The old Gray Lady is still standing. The source of the smoke may have been an escalator.
The escalators were the best money could buy in 1962.
The escalators are 1960's technology in a 2020 building. You do the math.
Here's how it looked on a Zoom hearing this morning:
There is smoke filling the hallways of the REGJB on Thursday morning. Fire alarms are ringing. Escalators are not working (naturally).
This is a breaking story which we will update.

One of the multitude of under 30 Latina judges was wailing in Spanish aye dios mio over and over again - not because of the smoke but because she spilled her cafficito in the stairwell.
People were screaming that it was going to be 9/11 all over again, until I reminded them we were on the second floor and it would take 30 seconds to get out.
My friend was on the escalator that stopped and started smoking. For a moment we thought it was Alex Michaels smoking in the building again, but then realized the escalator had failed. My friend said it jerked to a stop and his iPhone fell from his hand and clattered to the floor and someone picked it up and saw his Tinder account to his extreme embarrassment: "separated good looking guy, 45, seeking fun times with women under 30. In shape and here for a good time not a long time."
It was sheer pandemonium.
