Update : from the comments
I am a County Court Criminal Judge who over the years has worked with Mr. Solis. Solid. Strong. Sincere. Sensible. Social. That's Mr. Solis. The reaper took a trooper. Sad.
We received word earlier this week that Helmuth Solis was hospitalized and now sadly we report that he passed away. Helmuth was a former ASA who was widely respected and liked and was currently in private practice in a partnership. We did not know him well but will post some of the comments and remembrances in the comments section on the front of the blog as we receive them.
He was way too young to lose his life. We are informed this was a tragic accident of some sort and it reminds yet once again of the fragility of life and the importance of understanding the gift of life and repaying it by living in grace and being kind.

Absolutely shaken by this. Had the privilege of knowing Helmuth for 18 years. Just a great human being. My heart aches for his young children. Rest in peace, brother.
Poor guy. He was such a good man and a great person across the aisle to work with. I hope his family is doing as well as possible given the circumstances. This is such a tragedy.
Helmuth was great to be around and a good lawyer. Every time we spoke, he had a positive disposition. I can't recall him in a bad mood or complaining. Terrible news and my prayers go to him and his family: "Indeed, to God we belong and to Him we return."
So very sad. Unfortunately tomorrow is not promised to anyone.
Way too young.
I feel so sad when I read these untimely and sad deaths of wonderful colleagues.
As a Judge, I lost Caleb Freedman and Robert Segall. Both young brilliant kind prosecutors with so much life left … but gone too soon.
Let’s all live our best lives with peace, kindness and love.

I remember Caleb Freeman. Tragic loss.
I met Helmuth years ago when he was a young ASA. Instantly, I liked him. We became friends and recently we did some cases together. I also became good friends with his partners, George Pallas and Justin Beckham. I met his wife and his kids. Wow, what a nice and happy family. I cannot imagine the pain they are suffering right now.
Many did not know but his nickname was Hampster. When he was young, he looked like a cute little hamster. Many called him hammy.
This is why we have to have fun and be with the ones we love and care about. You never know when something like this could happen to anyone at any age.
Hammy, I will really miss you.
Your pal forever,
Mike Catalano
Very sorry to hear this. He was a great guy to work and a decent, kind, family man. May he rest in peace and may his family find some comfort.
I was very shocked to hear this news. He was so young and had a whole life ahead of him. Great attorney and overall, a nice person. He was quick to answer a question and had a huge smile on his face whenever I saw him. May his family find some peace in such difficult times.
Man that suck. A sweerheart. Rip.
This blog is starting to read like the obituaries in the Miami Herald.
A kind man who was always available, honest, and pleasant to work with. He fought hard for his clients. I enjoyed handling cases with Helmuth on the other side.
“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”
Our time at the Justice Building is truly so temporary. Life is finite. Our practice for the most part is much nonsense. Just wasting time and trying to avoid the requests of the other side. Manipulating a jury into believing your story. Making up a fake defense. Tripping up a cop on the stand with inconsistent prior statements to make them look bad. Reasonable doubt. Acquittal. Guilty annals free. But a client for life.
I’ve known hamster for about 15 yrs. My soul hurts after today’s news. I saw him grow his career and practice to what it is now. Solid man , father ,husband , and a badass attorney. My sincere condolences to his family ( Yasmine , Maya , Marc). This is a man that cared for all and a hero to his kids. I’ve been fortunate enough to know him for the past 15 yrs as a friend / family but most importantly someone you can count on no matter what. You will be missed. The world lost someone today that is 1 of 1. RIP.
Hamster. “Dog “ “fire “.
Know that anything your family needs we are available.

For sure. I miss the behind the scenes shenanigans and judicial gossip. It's becoming a gloomy downer to peek at the JBB.
Helmuth was our neighbor, but more importantly our good friend. We’re heartbroken for Yasmin Maya and Marc. Life changes in a blink. We’re stunned. The World has lost a good man. Makes no sense.
Those of us who have lost loved ones, or have had medical scares-- you look at life through different lenses, You truly realize how fragile life truly is. You begin to understand the things that truly matter in life. Enjoy life. Embrace each day with gratitude. Celebrate life.
You should get out of this business if that's how you view the work. I'm confident that's not how Helmuth practiced.
This is heartbreaking to hear about but "what exactly happened?
Hey RUMPOLE.
Thank you for the tip weeks ago to buy NVDA at $96.
Brilliant.
You have made me so much money over the years just watching the VIX.

I have my guy from Jp Morgan looking at it
Very sad news. He could not have been more than 45 years old. I first met him while he was a student at the University of Miami School of Law. I also ran into him numerous times when he worked as an ASA in Miami and when he was in private practice. One of the things that struck me about him was that regardless of where I saw him, he always, always (Not a typo) had a big smile on his face. He was a personable and friendly man. I as well as many others will miss him. May he be at peace without any pain or limitations.
Yeah I saw the article. Yawn. It was a hit piece. They have hundreds of millions which may turn into billions in stock locked up in coreweave and other startups in AI. Don’t love their investment in Don Trump Jrs startup Grab-a—gun but they have A and B round financing in many other very promising startups. If you look at the locked up stock options value, the NAV is well undervalued by x3 or more. So I’ll take 3x on my investments any day.
What caused his untimely death?
I remember Caleb offering defendants a "withhold adjudification" and court costs.
