Dodger`s announcer Red Barber had a bleeding ulcer and could not serve as the lead Dodgers broadcaster.
The Dodgers still had Barber’s partner, Connie Desmond, but they needed another announcer, so Dodgers GM Branch Rickey went out to find a suitable addition to the Dodgers broadcast team and settled on Ernie Harwell. However, Ernie Harwell had a contract with the Atlanta Crackers and Crackers President Earl Mann was not going to let his announcer go without compensation, so the Dodgers sent catcher Cliff Dapper to Atlanta and Ernie Harwell became in 1948 the only broadcaster ever traded for a player.

SAO needs a regime change.
Absolutely useless article Rump. Why not discuss something worth discussing. Let’s see oh yeah the absolutely corrupt SAO.
I hear Melba is considering running again.
Where did this come from? Trump slams Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society while Bondi axes the ABA?

Been going on for a long time. Trump FedSoc fallout began in 2021. ABA issues maybe 2018.
I agree, its so boring. Total yawn fest. Come on Rump, we want something juicy or at least worth discussing.
She should garner at least ten percent of the vote. Can’t we get a great state attorney in miami ?
Excuse me? We already have the greatest prosecutor is America. Kudos to Kathy.
Heck yeah! We love Kathy! The greatest team in America!
I'm not actually a baseball fan, but stories like Rumpole's about trading a player for an announcer remind me of the old, old days when my dad would listen to the Red Sox games on the radio. Brings back New England summers, smells, sounds, quiet. . . . Thanks, Rumpole
I buy Chock Full O' Nuts coffee because is it excellent but also because they employed Jackie Robinson as an executive after he retired; a real job, too, not just a name.
