The FACDL awards banquet is Saturday night. Of course we were neither invited, nor will we attend. We do not join organizations that would have us.
There is a very deserving list of honorees and we post them in the spirit of pro bono publico:
Judge Wolfson won the Kogie- our favourite award. Well deserved. Justice Kogan was a gem- a true one of a kind man and jurist. And Judge Wolfson is truly deserving of an award named after a man of intelligence, honor, integrity, and devotion to justice.
Daisy Serrano should be so proud to win the Marcia Cooke award. A great award named after a great woman - and Daisy is so deserving of this recognition.
And Michele Borchew has been everywhere the last couple of years kicking the ass of the Dade SAO ASAs. Her award is well deserved.
And it is nice to see Regional Counsel lawyers win the Rodney Thaxton Against All Odds Award. Rodney was someone we practiced with. He was committed to Indigent Defense and the RC3 lawyers did a great job in a case with truly awful facts.
Rothman has been doing it as good as anyone and many times better for a long long time.
Did we miss anyone? Once again no one wins The Rumpole award for misanthropic behavior while winning cases. Maybe someday.
Well done everyone.
Well done indeed.

Michele is a rockstar! Best lawyer in 2024-2025
RUMP, what are your stock tips for Monday morning? (Thanks for the advice on Nvidia!)
No one was awarded a “Postman” or a “Coe”?
Honestly - I truly believe Former Judge Teddy Mastos should win a lifetime achievement award for his decades of kindness, devotion to justice, his trial skills, years of public service, mentorship and just his warm welcoming smile that makes everyone feel comfortable and at home at our Justice Building.
He is walking history. He would be a great and worthy honoree.
Please consider this my nomination of him. Legend.
Yes Ted should get a lifetime achievement award. Monday when the market opens. I don’t see any urgency to buy. Lilly is a buy below 900. It’s going to change the health of the world with mounjaro in pill form. But that’s two years a way. Until then it locks up a lot of your capital if you want tone a meaningful owner. Nvidia below 140 is a steal. I wish I had publicly mentioned OLED when it was below 110. It smashed its quarter and when the trade shit show ends it’s a stock well over 200 a share. Apple is going to a phone with screen that folds and that’s OLED along with pretty much every device that has a screen. Here’s an under the radar play on chips made in the USA SKYT sky waters technology. Why it hasn’t run to over 20 is beyond me. Also playing a bit with sofi.
I was in Palantir at below 50 and traded in and out to the 90s but a few weeks ago I sold out when I wanted to reduce my exposure to the market and I just knew it was a mistake. And it was. It’s 120s now and it’s running hard. I’d buy it back below 100 at any time.
She’s really knocking it out of the ballpark. She’s a star.
I follow your market analysis. It is so well played.
All these years. Apple and Nvidia are such winners.
Thank you RUMPOLE. Who are the next Nvidia stocks? Will it be space? Robotics? Biomedical?
Help us. PS. Crypto buy at this point?
I too agree an award given to Ted Matos. Always warm and pleasant, always fighting for his clients, always willing to help.
Lifetime achievement goes to MVZ!
Thanks on tips. Agree on Ted. As for MVZ: prison cell too good for him.
Borchew is lawyer of the year! Kickin’ ass girl! She kicked the SAO’s dirty ass.
Need crypto advice ask former ASA Tracy.
Congratulations Michele Borchew it has been an outstanding year for you. You are a rising star in the legal community. Your hard work and determination has paid off. You have prevailed in seeking Justice.
I love Ted Mastos.
Michele has a fan club! You go!
Judge Mastos is first class. A true gentleman and a great lawyer. One of the finest voir dire examinations that I have ever seen a defense lawyer do. A natural in the courtroom. I, as a former Judge, have so much respect for Judge Mastos.
Please give him this award next year - and please just give him a hug for being a mentor to so many of us.
Well deserved Michele Borchew. Young lady you are a top litigator in this community. May you have many more victories in the name of justice.

You sometimes write, Rump, that you have "robed readers". I have a question for any judge who cares to respond, or anyone who knows: What on earth causes judges to arrive late to their calendar? It is the rule, rather than the exception. Taxpayers are funding correction staff, clerks, calendar clerks, ASAs and PDs to sit and wait. Civilians sit and wait. Its an ungodly waste of time and money. I cannot imagine the judges routinely have pressing business at 9AM. How is this anything other than an abuse of power? On campaigns for their jobs, they should be confronted with how frequently they start their job on time.

Much deserved Michele! Congratulations!!!
You are loco
Time for the LOP awards
Michele way to go girl!
Billing more than 24 hours in a day is ok?
And does what? Throws a mixer?
Talk about a feckless and useless organization.
Nice guy yes but major lack of skill
That doesn’t happen in our courtroom. In fact, we’re usually waiting on attorneys. I can’t think of any judges who start late at REG.
Not only is our judge never late but he works night and day. Never stops. I can’t for the life of me figure out why he would want to be a judge. It’s constant work. And then there’s also warrant duty which is 24/7. He doesn’t sleep for a week.
