UPDATE BELOW on the professionalism of our new Pentagon and Sec Of Defense
By now you all have seen the White House memo weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after attorneys who oppose the DOJ and White House in court. If not, click here.
The threat is real. Lawyers and Courts represent perhaps the last line of defense against a president bent on destroying the Constitution. The President knows this which is why he is attacking law firms and pulling contracts from them and revoking security clearances of lawyers. The latest to buckle under the threat was the NY super firm of Paul Weiss which bowed down to the president on their knees and kissed his ring to secure hundreds of million of dollars in fees. The NY Times reported about the Vichy-French-like surrender here.
The name Vidkun Quisling comes to mind.
So what are you going to do?
"Where were you when the Nazis came for your neighbors?" a generation of German children asked their parents.
Now it is our time.
"Where were you when the president threatened lawyers and judges as he dismantled the Constitution, ordered the arrest of those who opposed him, and sent them to prisons in El Salvador?"
If you do not think the El Salvador threat for lawyers and judges is not real, we bet you didn't think the president didn't have a chance to win, and if he won he wouldn't defund most of the government, shut down the department of education, defy federal judges, make universities bow to his will, and deport those who oppose him.
UPDATE:
As you know, we are all now much safer since the ridiculous Biden Sec of Defense Four-star General Lloyd Austin was replaced by a Fox TV host who beats women. Who would you rather have as a Secretary of Defense- a former general who devoted his life to the defense of this country, or a failed TV host with an alcohol and anger problem?
The TV host duh!
Which is why the NY Times is breaking the story Monday afternoon that our current Sec Of Defense texted on a Signal Group chat with journalists including the editor of the Atlantic that the US Military was planning strikes on Yemen before they occurred last week.
Yup, Let that sink in. The current "professionals" put the lives of US pilots at risk by texting an upcoming military strike in a group chat.
Sec Of Defense: "Yo. Dude like OMG guess what we fixin to do? Launch F18s off a carrier to strike those simps in Yemen. Like Dude in like four hours. They won't know what him them LMFAO!"
Random Journalist: "OMG No f'ing way dude! Like so f'ing cool. LMFAO when those bombs hit those dudes. Like can u tell me the coordinates and stuff?"
MAGA! - via Signal group chats baby.

Shame shame shame
These guys are morons
I wanna know where the Bush's are during all of this? Clinton's are awful quiet. Even Obama is tiptoeing around. No one has any cojones.
Federalist Society is at it again.
"Where were you when the Nazis came for your neighbors?" I was not alive in 1949 when The Florida Bar was created. But I have been fighting TFB Brownshirts since 2010.
The humanity of it all. Taking away a Government contract from a private law firm with elite educated lawyers. How will they remain employed without it? This is way worse than firing people for refusing an ineffective COVID jab. These attorney's should just take Biden's advice and learn to code. I still am very concerned as taking away this contract is a most definitely a precursor to putting lawyers in camps. Just like Hitler did, and of course everybody who disagrees with me is Hitler.
Democrats are cooked, everyone knows it except them.
What’s the latest at the SAO? It’s been rather quiet on the blog.
These MAGA people are ALL such a farce especially that Hedgehog moron. They flip it around and blame the reporter??? They have NO shame. This country has become the laughing stock of the world. I feel I'm living in a Pink Panther Movie with a cabinet filled with Inspector Clouseau clones.

RE, "precursor to putting lawyers in camps"? No, you have it backward. Lawyers enabled Hitler to put people in camps. Hitler was a failed artist. Without the help of lawyers and the judicial system, Hitler may have remained a failed artist who faded into obscurity.
Trump is different than Hitler. Trump had success as a builder and a real estate developer, and as a television personality, and a promoter. Trump the politician is a disrupter, disrupting a corrupt system. I am not MAGA, and I am not a Republican, but thank Trump the disrupter. The swamp starts at the courthouse. The Florida Bar is the deep state.
The Democratic party, in particular, has been ruined by lawyers. Lawyers have turned politics into lawfare, and have turned the courts into political tribunals. There is no rule of law. That is a fiction. Lawyers have ruined the United States. Lawyers like Joe Biden and Ron DeSantis, and all the spineless lawyers who support or cower to them. It does not matter if lawyers believe this or not. The people know it. That's why the people don't give a fart if Trump has 41 convictions, or 541 convictions. When J6 went down, I was disgusted. No more. Trump has shown great restraint in my opinion. If Trump was Hitler, the lawyers who targeted him would be hanging on meat hooks. Literally hanging on meat hooks, because that us what Hitler did.
Is there any thing Trump has done that you agree with ? I grew up with the Bidens. When his first wife and daughter were killed in a car crash ( his wife ran a stop sign ) Biden would often say the other driver “ drank his lunch “ and killed his wife and daughter. This was devastating for the man who did not drink nor was he at fault. Biden was a scumbag and lived his entire life as one.
@1036am:
First, whataboutism are for the feeble-minded. And that's what your argument appears to be.
Next, and I can't believe that I am engaging with the whataboutism, Covid jabs are part of a 100+ year old proven tradition of compulsory vaccination designed to limit the impact and spread of disease. Even in individual cases where the strategy has proven less than perfect, the strategy at a macro level remains the gold standard in public health.
Whereas, this executive order is about one thing and one thing only - punishing dissent.
If you can't see the difference, there's nothing left for us to talk about.

Regardless of how you feel about the cuts to government agencies, etc., all Americans are owed better by Trump and his chosen people. It is not OK to jeopardize our national security and put our service members' lives at risk. Some of these folks don't belong in important positions but now that they've landed in them, they have an obligation to us all to at least take reasonable efforts to keep us safe and to not violate the laws of our Country. In truth they owe us much more than that. The judicial branch is supposed to be the check on this Executive power but now the Executive is calling for impeachment (or worse) of any judge who rules against him. God help us if a "real" disaster or war breaks out over the next 3.8 years. This administration and everyone in power needs to do better and uphold the oaths they took. Our constitution can hold if it is followed.
Not even the diet cokes he swills. Pure poison as Robert Kennedy would tell him if he had a set of balls.
The Republicans are the party of hypocrisy. Had this been the Democrats they would have wanted everyone involved to be hung. We are now seen as country with a President and his members who have no fucking clue as to what they are doing. This is what happens when you vote for a failed and incompetent businessman to run the country who believes he is on some type of reality show and hiring only those who kiss his ass. “The exposure of sensitive information to foreign intelligence agencies by communicating in an insecure manner is incompetence, it is malpractice, it’s inexcusable.” said by Marco Rubio, 2015, speaking on Fox News about Hillary Clinton and the use of a private email server.
Our secretary of defense intentionally used a civilian messaging app to share sensitive war plans without even apparently noticing a journalist was in the chat.
There is not an officer alive whose career would survive a security breach like that. It would normally result in instant consequences (relief from command, for example) followed by a comprehensive investigation and, potentially, criminal charges. Just when we thought the Trump administration couldn't possibly embarrass itself any further drunken Pete says hold my beer. This level of incompetence is actually criminal and should not surprise anyone. Rank amateurs in great positions of power embarrassing our country on a daily basis. Conman in Chief is voted in, meaning ineptitude starts at the top.
He appoints clown car cabinet, and one such appointee, a former third rate weekend cable TV host, proves you actually need qualified people in these positions. But like a good soldier, he’s happy to lie his way out of it, because there are only two kinds of people - those who can’t do anything about it, and those who are ignorant enough to believe him. And don't even get me started on the fucking tariffs!
Rumpole - ethically speaking - would YOU represent Defendant Luigi Mangione?

CABA has issued a somber, urgent statement condemning the termination of the CHNV Humanitarian Parole Program. The same program that protected hundreds of thousands of people fleeing political persecution, violence, and human rights violations.
And to that, we say: really? Now you’re concerned?
This statement would carry a lot more weight if it weren’t coming from an organization whose members — by their own overwhelming margin — voted for the very administration that promised to dismantle humanitarian protections like CHNV. The majority of CABA members voted for Trump. You know, the guy who built his political brand on hardline immigration crackdowns, ending asylum pathways, and proudly boasting about deportations? Yes, that guy.
Now CABA is “deeply concerned” that legal status is being revoked? That vulnerable people might be sent back to countries where they face repression, imprisonment, or worse? That dismantling humanitarian protections has… consequences? Who could have possibly seen this coming?
It’s the classic tale of the leopard eating your face after years of cheering on the leopard. Only now, the shock seems to be that it’s the Cuban face on the menu. Suddenly, we’re hearing about due process, human rights, and fear for the safety of refugees.
If only someone had warned them. Oh wait — literally everyone did.
So while this statement tries to strike the tone of a righteous defense of liberty and justice, it mostly reads like buyer’s remorse wrapped in legalese. The truth is, if CABA wants to advocate for human rights, it might start by reconciling its political support with the real-world impact of the policies it enabled.
Because this isn’t just a policy dispute. It’s the predictable result of political choices. And those choices have names, ballots, and consequences.
I’m more concerned about the corruption at the SAO and MDPD. Let’s discuss that.
