THE PESKY FIRST AMENDMENT

Update: Does the SAO run a slush fund? See below.

Those pesky amendments keep biting the government in the butt.

Right to bear arms? Load us up with automatic rifles so we can shoot some deer into swiss cheese while swilling beer and eating pork rinds from the Piggly Wiggly.
Establishment Clause? Prayer in school baby for this Christian Nation.
Right to not wear a mask during a pandemic? Amendment three or nine...it's gotta be in there some where.

But when it comes to the right to assemble? Send in the Fed Storm Troopers (our post on the US invading Portland is coming soon!)

And that right to free speech bullcrap? Only if you say MAGA.

So check out DOM's piece in the Hill about a federal judge being a mite out of sorts because a federal probation officer revoked the release of Michael Cohen because Cohen was   (let's play the blog multiple choice game!)

A) Dealing drugs

B) Arming the Iranians

C) Buying oil from Venezuela

D) Writing a book about the President.

David's post is here

The opening salvo:

Federal district judge Alvin Hellerstein was rightly outraged that a probation officer acting on behalf of the Bureau of Prisons had Michael Cohen arrested because he was writing a book about President Donald Trump and because Cohen would not agree to give up his First Amendment rights as part of his supervised release. The judge found that “the purpose of transferring Mr. Cohen from furlough and home confinement to jail is retaliatory, and it’s retaliatory because of his desire to exercise his First Amendment rights to publish a book and to discuss anything about the book or anything else he wants on social media and with others."

Also this week: The Dade County State Attorneys Office and head investigator Martin Dardis (who passed away in 2006) played an oft overlooked role in Watergate. Now comes word the SAO has their own Nixonian Slush Fund.  (Click for the WLRN Article).
We will have all the slushy details.

Of course. Judge Halverstein was appointed by Bill Clinton and is towing the progressive lie. How can you possibly support Michael Cohen who stands for everything a lawyer ought not stand for. What would have been proper punishment for his failure to follow a very clear lockdown order? And, as for the peaceful protesters in Portland who have bombs and ammo and want to bun down the courthouse, maybe we should let them do it. You amaze me. You are, without question a brainless Yellow Dog Democrat. Bet you if old drooling Joe gets elected, you will be in cash because the economy will be in the tank for sure.

1256 tells us everything we need to know when he starts with "Of course. Judge Halverstein was appointed by Bill Clinton and is towing the progressive lie."

Oh, the conspiracy theories people love to push. LOL

As the Chief Justice (a republican appointee!) said, “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges. What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them." https://apnews.com/c4b34f9639e141069c08cf1e3deb6b84

Do we have a couple of bad apples in the judiciary? Sure.

Do even good judges get things wrong sometimes? Hell yes.

Is there a partisan conspiracy in the judiciary? No.

Stop watching Fox News or MSNBC or whatever other watered down news-entertainement you watch.

Rump, this is the Federal Courthouse in Portland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8oxgn4xrso
Do not look away. You're going to tell us with a straight face that Federal authorities are not permitted to protect federal property if the local authorities refuse to do so? You're going to tell us that law enforcement officers permanently blinded by lasers are just imagining their symptoms? That people shooting fireworks and throwing rocks and bottles at cops are just peacefully protesting in an "intense fashion"? If this was Miami we as profession would be screaming at the authorities to do something.

Ah rump uses the term "storm troopers" to demonize the feds, many of whom call portland home and have protected it for years. Of course he didnt come up with that term himself, he heard it on MSNBC, and has no problem parroting whatever talking point the libs roll out. What a shame rump never learned to think for himself!

3.28PM — that video is horrifying. You’re 100% correct.

6:37 sorry to disappoint you. I have been out of the country since mid-march. You don't think I have any trust in our yahoo governor to steer Florida through this crisis do you? Where I am I only get the BBC 1,2,3 . But I did read an article in LeMonde which said the feds attacked someone who played march of the troopers over a loudspeaker which I thought was funny (playing the music) and shocking (The resulting attack).
