BENCH AND BAR MIXER

If you're like us, then the prospect of socializing with a judge ranks right up there with having  an in depth discussion of the congressional committee notes on the fees charged hot dog vendors in state parks.  But for some of you,  the ability to quaff a pint after work with a member of the robed set is not an unpleasant event.

Therefore, we reluctantly pass on the announcement of an FACDL Bench and Bar mixer tonight, at the semantic-satiated named Restaurant and Bar "Delores, but you can call me Lolita" at 1000 South Miami Avenue. starting at 5:00 pm., or three hours after most judges have called it a day.

See You In Court, but not anywhere near this unsavory get together.

These blow-a-judge happy hours are a great opportunity for all those sycophants trying to impress the senior partners in their firms and yet having nary a prospect of ever getting close to trying a case before any of the Judges into whose rectums they will be inserting their noses.

Thanks Rumpy,

I donated money to the mixer and you can't even show up.

Perhaps you should attend the mixer to pick up some Fantasy Football tips.

And some judges are smarty pants trash talkers and that's another reason not to go to this cabal.

A long gone and glad to gone Judge says:

All of you complain how remote and detached judges are, and then when they show up to an event and make themselves available you denigrate the event and the judges' participation. Make up your figgin' minds.

I will tell you that some young lawyers do a little sucking up, but for the most part the judges end up talking to each other or to friends from before their bench days.

Maybe if the lawyers talked about something else other than their own cases or some other lawyer in their firm's cases and talked about real life, they might find out judges are human too.

I went to a few of those events and found that if you take the conversation away from you, the judge, and honestly try to get to know the young lawyers who show up, it can be enjoyable. Also, don't stay too long and don't eat up all the food.

how many times did you hear "how are your kids doing?"

Talking about Judges, I would like to congratulate Judge Tunis for standing her ground today showing great courage and going against a recomendation of life from the State, on a violation of Probation hearing.

MC Waste Services - only from those who knew my kids or about them. Those people got the same response, but I see no significance in that. I preferred that to, "how is your wife and why isn't she here?" By the way, the latter said with a smile on their face.
