HAPPY BIRTHDAY SY/ FINS WIN. WE CALLED IT.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SY

Celebrate Sy Gaer's 75th Birthday !!!!!

Tobacco Road
626 South Miami Avenue

TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Food sponsored by FACDL-Miami.

Sunday's results: 1-2 on picks (Gave you the Colts)
1-0-2 on the Over/Under- 2 pushes.
Still haven't had a losing day on Over/Under.

AND.....did you read the p.s yesterday? Who called it? Who went in print and went out on the line and predicted the biggest upset in the NFL this year? Who told you to forget the line and pick the Fins to win outright over the undefeated Bears?
If you see that person at Tobacco Road tonight, why buy him a drink.

I posted the request for tips because the folks at Tobacco Road mentioned it about 12 times during our conversation - Guess they're a bit paranoid or something

Sy is a big tipper isn't he?
Maybe their worried Pracitto is coming.

Anonymous said...

did you really call it or did you say what every miami fan said: "we may just beat the bears."

You tell me: Here is exactly what the post read- which you can see on the site at the front of the blog for Sunday:

PS. Don't ask why. The Fins might just have something left in the tank coming off a bye week. Chicago is just not as great as everyone thinks. If something surprising happens, you read it here first. We're not talking about covering. We're talking about an upset

I SAY I CALLED THE UPSET- NOT COVERING THE SPREAD- AN OUTRIGHT WIN- AND IF YOU READ MY PICKS ALL THIS YEAR, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I PICKED THE DOLPHINS TO WIN ALL YEAR.

I think Rumpole knows nothing about the law- but- I kid you not- I am up $4500 following his picks. I have won several "If bets" which is picking one team or over under and if they win rolling it over to the next bet. Then I decided to play Rumpole's hunch yesterday and put more than a few bucks on the Dolphins money line. No odds, just a huge payout if they win. So as I said, I have taken about $200.00 and with Rumpole's help, my
on- line account is at 4765.
Thanks Rumpole!!!!!!!!!

WHAT IS A BOTTOM FEEDER? I've seen numerous people criticized as being one. Is it someone who takes court appointed cases, or defends the poor for low fees? How many wealthy defendants are there who aren't going to ask you to tamper with juries, witnesses, try to bribe judges or in federal court even look the other way while witnesses are killed? Or are bottom feeders those of us who never learned how to, are not good at, or don't want to tell someone I can guarantee no jail in a dui for $5000 or for 15000 I'll get the minman waived when they are almost always waived. I'll stay out of jail and remain a bottom feeder, no big federal drug cases for me and I'm not going to take someone's home of 30 years because their juvenile kid did an armed robbery. I guess I'll have to continue to wear $500 suits and drive a 20000 car and have you guys in the 75000 car and 1500 suits make fun of me in au bon pain. Now excuse me while I go cry over a pint of Ben & Jerry's.

The affair at Sye's Rivergate was wonderful. We all had a great time and Sy was overwhelmed.

5:31 - looks like you were blogging during SY's party - what happened - you missed your bus?

Let me ask you something - since youve posted before and obviously have very strong feelings about thie now 75 year old man - would you be willing to say what you posted here anonymously in the lobby of the REGJB?

Didn't think so.

5:31...............you're an ass. Why begrudge this man his friends' respect? Do you feel better now that you've posted your unnecessary comment?

Why say anything that might ruin his birthday? Are you really so cynical that it offends you that people want to celebrate a guy who's spent most of his life at the RGB? Or are you jealous that no one is honoring you?

Get over yourself. If nothing else, the congratulations and party were harmless acts. Is your life so miserable that you can't let it go?

Congratulations To Sy Gaer!
He has handled more trials then anyone;sometimes having two trila in one day before different judges/morning and afternoon. He has done excellent work for his clients/even if has no idea what a file is.Juries love Sy Gaer!I sat as a juror in a case Sy took to trial many years ago,but it was a mistrial by the state,no not the fault of the state attorney(remember back to Jim Rockefeller)but the city officer who refused to accept the state and court admonishment:but until Judge Gelber ruled,Sy at least was sitting well in the juries eyes.
He was willing t take cases for far less than most of us,even back then;he wasn't greedy. He made what he needed apparently.
We may not have appreciated his schtick for bonds, his pleas on behalf of his clients innocence and his protestations:but maybe that is because he had that something special many defendants adored:that certain something that defendants "sitting in the box"loved. He was and remains a showman.
By the way,Sy is an old timer and he has ethics. His word has been his bond for many, many years. Can we say that about many of our colleagues today?

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

I want to congratulate Seymour Gaer on his many years of dedicated work on behalf of his clients when representing them at the MJB/REGJB. Sy has been an attorney since 1962.

The party tonight was a great way to show how much we care and how much we think about the true dedication Sy has to his clients.

Despite his style, and many times his substance, it was always about the client. And isn't that what it should be!

Congrats Sy and here's to another 25 years ......

CAPTAIN OUT ...............

the only pd who showed up tonight was warren s..

Anonymous said...

warren is the captain

It is pretty crappy the the brass at the PD's office wasn't there - KFR was there

Anonymous said...

2:39
that's a low blow.

Anonymous said...

KFR is so darn sexy.

Rumpole said...

I removed the mean post about Sy. Coward.

Anonymous said...

the sole reason that kfr was at the party is that sy raises her conviction rate considerably. the pd brass was not there there is because they know what a clown sy gaer is.......and i agree that kfr is looking very fine these days.

Anonymous said...

1:18....................what's your problem? Why do you have to hammer Sy? You have some driving need to begrudge a 75 year old guy his friends' appreciation? You're the real clown.

The PD brass think Gear is a clown?
Those guys couldn't carry Sye's little black book. But you wanna talk about clowns? Lets talk about that ass clown there yonder......
