MYSTERY SOLVED

Ever wonder what that person wearing a robe sitting a few feet above everyone else is doing during court or during a trial?  They stare intently at a CRT screen, frown a bit, and are fully engrossed in their endeavors. Surely they are putting the finishing touches on a groundbreaking law review article on the Fourth Amendment and Inevitable Discovery ("How To Deny Every Motion To Dismiss With Confidence And Get That Appointment To The Appellate Court") ; or maybe they are examining the dissent to an Alaskan Supreme Court case on an obscure point of law a lawyer just raised- legal scholars they.

True Story; During a rather admittedly boring and long pre-trial detention motion, the magistrate called us up side bar and we got there quicker than they were expecting and glimpsed their computer screen. After the government earnestly argued their objection and we responded and were royally dismissed with a wave, we stopped, turned and said "Black ten on red jack" and then kept walking.

Well, we know what Oklahoma Judge (now former judge) Traci Soderstram was doing during a murder trial- texting her bailiff and making snarky and sexually suggestive comments about various participants in the trial.   Here is one news report.

Traci is our first nominee for Judge of the year, 2024 edition. We are sure there will be others.

Lesson: during a boring trial or pre-trial detention hearing, play solitaire like the rest of the judges and don't text while on camera. DUH.

  2. What is astounding is that the Oklahoma judge was sending texts disparaging the prosecutor and fawning over the defense attorney.

Had she been mocking the defense attorney/defendant instead in her hundreds of texts, there wouldn't have been any fuss at all.

  3. Prosecutor in Georgia says she keeps cash in her house that she withdrew from her first political campaign and that is what she used to pay her lover back for trips around the world. Sounds normal.

  4. Don't most criminal defense attorneys keep cash stashed somewhere? I bet Rumb does.

  5. Interesting there is no comment from Rump on the Fani Willis fiasco. What a scene when she testified!

  6. Explain to me the issues with cash. It’s legal tender. If you report it and pay taxes on it then it’s legal to possesses in any amount. This community is populated by people whose government took their possessions and their bank accounts which is why many older people in Miami do not trust banks. And go back a generation there was a time when the phrase “run on a bank” did not mean a 20something jogging to her bank after a Pilates class while sipping a green smoothie.

As to Fani Willis let’s examine the issue by looking at it from the extreme. Would you have advocated for the dismissal of the case against Ted Bundy if it turns out the prosecutor was having an affair ? Does a criminal defendant go free when any personal indiscretion of a prosecutor is revealed? Or think of it this way 12:34 - because maybe this would gore your Ox. Would you be ok with the criminal charges against Hillary Clinton being dismissed after she was indicted for conspiring with Joe Biden and Barack Obama for getting a dead Venezuelan dictator to fix the last presidential election if it turned out the prosecutor was a trans woman who had an affair with a gay man who worked in her office ?

Let me put it another way 12:34. You’re a moron. Get a life as Neil Rodgers used to say before hanging up on a caller.

  7. Any parallel to the Rivi's extracurricular conduct in the Grisela Blanco prosecution? This is a real question. I candidly don't know enough about either case to have an opinion, but it just struck me and I'd like to get your thoughts on Rivi and Grisela.

  8. She did not pay her boyfriend back - that’s bullshit. She’s a government worker not a criminal lawyer. She does not have cash laying around. This is not plausible and sounded insane. This clearly goes not motive and bias and should be admitted as a side show during the trial as should the entire drama. but she should be allowed to stay on and prosecute.

Fani is back in church. Nice separation of church and state.

  10. You ever see the video of the former president being asked about his favourite part of the bible? It's a hilarious discourse of a liar lying. Google it. Especially when asked about whether he likes the old testament or new testament better. What a moron. This is a guy who couldn't find a church if he was in the Vatican. Real people of faith- like Jimmy Carter - don't use it for political purposes.

I looked- none of the disciples bragged about grabbing a woman by their PU___.
    Maybe you can enlighten me.
None of them raped a woman either.

  11. Could you imagine Kathy Rundle hiring a lawyer for the trial of the century and then getting a motion to disqualify her entire office because the assholes for the defense allege that KFR went to depos with that boyfriend and had fun on the trips with the expense account?

    Go figure.

  12. Damn Rumpole, you really upset those Swifties. FYI-- Its best not to poke the bear.

  13. 823am-- Rivi was set to be the prosecution’s star witness, was alleged to be having phone sex with secretaries from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. The State Attorney’s Office lost all credibility. Even though it was due to the secretary and not the prosecutor.

  14. Hey, RUMP. You misread my comment!!!! I just wondered why you did not mention this whole fiasco.

I was NOT advocating that Fani Willis be disqualified. I think the whole thing IS BULLSHIT [but without a doubt a gift to TRUMP].

How incredibly reckless for her to begin this affair and jeopardize THIS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT CASE. She DID REALLY disappoint me and dropped the ball. We NEEDED this case to go BEFORE the election.

You can't argue with that . Also I REALLY resent you calling me a MORON.
