AN ATTACK ON PROFESSIONAL WOMEN

We have been called many things. Accused of bias, stupidity, and perhaps worst of all- boring writing. And that's just from our mother.

Others in the legal community have said worse.

And then there was this in the DBR, who did a story on the Captain's Name Game post, which hit our legal community like the bomb it was:

But in response, Cervera called the blog post “an attack on professional women who engage in the act of assuming their husbands’ surnames.”

“It is disappointing that issues like this one are raised to distract residents from being able to learn more about me and the reasons why I am running for judge,” Cervera said in an email. “It saddens me that with all the progress women have made, we still remain susceptible to attacks about what last name we decide to use.”

An attack? You betcha. On professional women? Surely you jest. You can do better than that Ms. Tylman-Tua-Sanchez-Wong whateverwillwork.com.

You have been married how long? Several years at least? And you were too busy to fill out the paperwork to change your name, what with the cleaning and the shopping, and such as a busy housewife?

You have been caught Madam. Exposed for what you are- a win-at-all-costs-character who will do what it takes to play the name game in Miami Judicial elections. Period.

The John Kennedy School of Government awards Profile in Courage Awards to public servants who have made decisions putting the welfare of the public above their own personal needs. Elected officials who voted their conscience, and then lost the next election as a consequence of their vote.

You Madam, will never know the accomplishment of standing for something bigger than yourself. Perhaps, it is this sort of thinking that led you to change your name in advance of an election, rather than seek to tout your experiences.

So once again, we offer you the pages of this blog. Unedited. Speak your piece. Rise in your defense. Tell all of us why you deserve to be elected. How your experiences and abilities make you uniquely qualified to sit in judgment of others. And if you wish, address your name change- and how at this particular moment in your life- you needed to take your husband's name like the good wife you are.

Should you doubt our sincerity, email us and we will send you the private emails of respected judges and attorneys who will vouch for our sincerity and, if it makes you feel better, in to their hands we will place the blog and the ability to publish a post, so you feel secure.

The floor is yours.

Do you have the courage to accept?

Oh, one last thing. Check out the post of the Captain on August 9, 2010, in which he reports on the name change of one Peter Adrian, who, like you, desperate to win a judicial race, reached into his long lost past and found the sur name "Camacho". Adrian went on to win one term, before being roundly and deservedly beaten, earning the reputation of one of the worst judges to disgrace the bench of Miami-Dade County.

An attack on women? How dare you.

An attack on liars and lack of character is more like it.

  1. Tylman now Cervera, will not contact you or answer any of your questions, for the same reason Tylman now Cervera, did not appear at the judicial forum. She is another fraud who has been exposed by your blog, and she is petrified of answering questions about her past as a failed lawyer, with a fabricated net worth, who has had 11 different business address in her 11 years of practicing law. It will catch up to Tylman and sooner than she thinks.

  2. The reason Tylman now Cervera is running for judge is because she is a fraud and failure as a lawyer who can not make a living as a lawyer operating her 'Teressa Maria Tyllman P.A." out of a P.O. Box in a UPS Store.

  4. If a totally unqualified El APONTE could win an election based only on her name( she said she was partially black as well) every bottom feeder who cannot make a living as an attorney can try to obtain a huge income increase. From 55K a year to 185k plus benefits is great bait for all incompetents to run. The voting public has no idea about qualifications. They vote on ethic names. Ask Davia.

  5. 1044 that is why judges should not be directly elected, but instead should be appointed.

  6. I'm outraged. This is just so low that it goes beyond the pale. We need election reform and we need it now.

Ps- I'm voting for the kid....she's got spunk.

  7. Although I am only speaking for myself, I think I can safely say on behalf of almost all of the judicial candidates, thank you to The Captain and this Blog for shedding more light on this “Name Game” problem. It took your Blog post for the Daily Business Review to finally write a story on the issue. Hopefully someone will file suit against these candidates who need to be called out for what they are doing.

Don’t forget to vote on Election Day.

  11. If Judge Tunis had not been so haughty and overbearing in court, she still would be a judge. Isn't it time to lay off Judge Aponte? Have you herad anything negative about her or is it just her audacity in drawing opposition which she earned the old fashioned way.

  12. !:12 Yes, Teresa Tylman aka Teressa Cervera is a failure and fraud. I have a feeling it's not going to work out well for Tessa Tylman (that was her facebook name until recently according to a number of her Facebook friends). What an embarrassment for the partners at Becker Law where her husband, Adam Cervera, works. Whoever is advising Tylman is an idiot. An attack on professional women, give me a break Tessa. Pathetic, weak and feeble defense. So dumb of her to change her voter's registration and DL a couple of days after being exposed on this blog. Thanks Rump and Captain. I have a feeling we have not heard the last of this travesty.

  13. Captain the union interviews were earlier today. Again, Teressa Tylman - Teressa Cervera was a no show. Just like she was a no show for the judicial forum sponsored by a several voluntary bar organizations last week. She really wants to get her lack of qualifications and her life story of a failed legal career out there.

  14. 522 Tunis demeanor in court had zero to do with her loss. Less than one tenth of one percent of the voters had any idea who Tunis even was. She lost to a name.

  15. I would have voted for Putin before I would have voted for Dava Tunis. Dava makes Venzer look like Mother Teresa although, I never heard Tunis say, "nobody tells me what to do in MY courtroom." Venzer has been saying that often in the last few months.

Venzer, you will have opposition in two years.

  16. Judge Ellen Venzer is a sweetheart. She is kind to everyone who appears before her. She has more money saved than any other Judge. She does her job to help the Justice system. She doesn’t need to do it. She was a great trial lawyer before becoming a world class judge.

  19. 1137, the Romanian devil we know as "mother Theresa" was literally a satanic lover of pain and poverty. Her goal was maximize human suffering. Isn't that the goal of most religions anyway?

  20. Interesting that Tessa received a 5 star rating 10 days ago by someone named Adam (her husband's name). I suspect she has never had a 10-year client and she has not handled dozens of complex litigation matters. A friend sent me this link and rating, which was obviously made up after the name change and decision to run against Judge Jean.

  21. I wonder if we can request the letter or Name Change Request Form through a public records request...To change your name for the Florida Bar, an attorney must send a letter or a completed Name Change Request Form to the Florida Supreme Court Clerk's Office requesting your name be changed on the roll of attorneys. The request may be emailed to FSC@flcourts.org or mailed to Florida Supreme Court, Clerk's Office, 500 South Duval Street, Tallahassee FL 32399.

  22. FIU Law Professor Fingerhut, one of Teressa Maria Tylman's professors, chimed in today on former FIU Law student now calling herself Teressa Maria Cervera in the FIU Law magazine Captain. "WHAT IT IS ISA PUBLIC FRAUD" the distinguished professor said. Here is the quote Captain, "That is why Florida’s Code of Judicial Conduct makes clear that a candidate shall not knowingly misrepresent their identity. And having neither lived, nor practiced law, by this ‘new’ name before, that is precisely what Ms. Tylman is doing. Indeed, to call hers a mere ‘misrepresentation’ is kind. What it is is a public fraud."

  23. Teressa Tylman does not want to face Judge Lody Jean in any judicial forum. She is a no show each time. How can she be taken seriously when she does that? It's not like she is busy at her office at the UPS store. Her husband, Adam Cervera, has to know what is going on and is probably financing this through his law firm. It's sad to see an experienced judge have to go through this circus. The legal community should let the public know what is going on so that they can make an informed vote. Ms. Tylman has no integrity and by the looks of it, neither does her husband. He is busy writing some bull Avvo review for her so her 1 star review from a real client can go up to 3. He leaves his name as Adam and calls her Cervera. Glad the DBR wrote something about this. Love the blog. Keep up the good work!

  24. I won’t print a comment that accuses a candidate of being drunk in public. Stop trying

  25. 8:28PM Teressa Tylman now calling herself Teressa Cervera claims she is too busy managing her $55,000 a year law practice with two clients to attend judicial forums. But she should be elected because Tressa has 'always dreamed of being a judge'. See here for example. Tessa has a 'full calendar' (full of BS and you know what else) https://www.politicalcortadito.com/2022/05/12/miami-dade-judicial-candidates-forum/

  26. Teressa Tylman has one contribution from an attorney. That attorney is her husband Adam Cervera, who is at Becker Law. Adam Cervera contributed the sum of $48 dollars to his wife's campaign. Quite an endorsement !

    ReplyDelete
  27. But here's the thing (and you know it your hearts):

There's every likelihood (call it a probable 12-to-7 (and that's being conservative)) that a candidate listed as Teressa Tylman Cervera will handily defeat a candidate named Lody Jean, no matter what "the legal community" "let's the public know."
