A LITTLE WEEKEND FUN

Football season is over. Summer is far away. All those trials you continued in November and December are coming back up and it's time to fish or cut bait.

Lets have some fun

When did the Justice Building open?

Name the first Asian-American Judge in Miami.

Name the first female judge in Miami.

Name the judge who tried Ted Bundy in Miami.

Name three county court judges who became federal court judges.

Has any judge gone from the Miami State court to the 11th circuit?

Name the Judge who was reversed by the 3rd DCA for putting a defendant into PTI. The court held PTI was a State Attorney Program and only the SAO could place someone in the program.

Who was the "great corruptor" and who presided over his trial?

Name the last three chief judges of the 11th judicial circuit starting with the current one.

What Judge prosecuted Jim Morrison?

Name the last State Attorney arrested and what were they arrested for? The arrest did not necessarily occur when they were in office.

  1. San Pedro was the great corrupter and was tried by Rothenberg

  2. The Great Corrupter. Alberto San Pedro. Judge Harold Solomon. Defense was Irwin Block, one of the best trial lawyers ever to step foot in the MJB. Block had two co counsel. Can you name them. One has passed away and one is an El Jefe. Don’t recall who prosecuted the case.

  7. Jerry or Max Kogan were co-counsel to Irwin. Definitely one of the best ever trial attorneys and a real gentleman. Do not forget he was Co-Counsel with Phil Hubbart in the Pitts-Lee case. Two real heros in difficult times in the pan handle of Florida

  8. I disagree that Rothenberr tried the San Pedro case- try again.

  9. Jerry or Max Kogan were not Co counsel to Block. Jennifer Bailey was never Chief Judge. Try Joel Brown and Joe Farina.

  10. And while we are at it, Dominic Koo was the first Asian American Judge in Miami, while Mattie Belle Davis was the first female Judge.

Captain- come on for the ASAs in the San Pedro Case. One was male and one was female.
    The female was.....Susan Dechovitz…..

Harold Solomon was the judge. RIP a sweet, nice man.

  11. The REG Building cornerstone is dated 1959, but I don't think the building was placed in service until 1962.

  14. Captain Justice: Obviously you never have been to 73 West Flagler. Bailey was indeed Chief Judge. Check your records. Bailey came well after joel and joe. Just before Soto. I will accept your apologize. Koo would cook on his wong in chambers and did not tolerate smokers.

  15. What judge sent a homeless man back to California because a judge out there sent him to Miami?

What judge held a prosecutor in contempt for going to see a play the day his murder trial was set? Hint: La Cage aux Folles Another hint: Judge was a really nice guy.

What judge told a guy in courtroom 1-4 that he was supposed to be in 1-3, where David Young was presiding? Hit, the guy was wearing a see thru outfit and was a body builder. I'll never forget it.

What former prosecutor said "where's the beef?" in closing. At
the time that was the slogan for Wendy's. The ASA was in a GT Auto case and the defendant said he gave the court the title but, the APD new it was a fraud so never mentioned it in trial. The ASA was about the 4th to handled the case and didn't know the title was in the court file. 3rd DCA reversed and said, the beef is in the court file.

What judge accidently shot up her desk in chambers?

What judge said that if you took all the Cubans out of jail, they would be empty? Hint... she's still a judge and about to retire.

What former judge took the gun in evidence and asked the Defendant how he would have felt if someone pointed at him? Yup, he pointed the gun at the Defendant.

What present circuit court judge got arrested for DUI when in private practice and told the cop, "you're going to find out who I am." Hint, he actually punched a defense lawyer in a hallway too.

What former judge in Juvie went crazy if you chewed gum in her courtroom?

What former county judge used his own money to feed the rest of the courtroom when the jury went out late to deliberate? The county paid for food for only the jury.
